I saw the thread and thought, "Gotta be Merf" Great info. Look forward to your report when you ride. We 'll check it out New Years week.

complete with three Audio-Animatronics seagulls chattering “mine, mine.”

...oh... no.... i already want to rip my hair out! :dazzle:

The rest of it sounds like it will be amazing though.

Nice article....thanks for posting.

Well i guess this settles the debate as to what the seagulls will be doing...lol!

I do hope this new attraction does not rely too heavily on "projection ( aka video) technology as i think the Parks have far too many attractions along those lines. I am really looking forward to seeing the recreations of the reef and the other elements.

I noticed there is no mention of AA's INSIDE the attraction. I was hoping for at least a couple of full scale character AA's in the ride.....sounds like it's all going to be projections.

Still sounds promising.....and i agree with the last statement in the article, as in this Nemo overlay will bring new life and Guests to the Seas Pavillion. As much as i'm not a huge fan of the film, i can easily see Disney will have another popular attraction here.

projections are only a little bit of the ride, but are truly amazing --- I was surprised at how they pulled it off, I didn't think it could work

as for AA's - when has disney ever disappointed? :lookaroun
the anglerfish is a unique technology :zipit:

The way the article made it sound is that the Anglerfish ARE projections but are different from Dory's projection and the Imagineers were having difficulty adjusting the two different projections to make it look like the anglerfish are chasing Dory while you pass by in the omnimover.

I doubt there will be any AA's in the ride.

Listen to Juan, "the angler fish will be a unique technology". He is correct. It's a VERY interesting use for another newer technology already found somewhere else in Epcot.

So there ARE animatronics in the ride. Not many, but they are there.

One correction; the Sea Cabs closed early 2002, not six years ago. There again I`ve never known a fact laden press release to get all the facts right in one go.

Big Blue World

"...Innovation also is embedded in the finale. It includes a song titled “Big Blue World” in which the characters bid adieu to Guests. The entire cast of animated characters is projected to appear as though they are inside the pavilion’s giant saltwater tank, swimming with the real fish. “We’ve never done projected animation into an aquarium,” Jerre explained."

I remember hearing distinctly musical theatre-y audio for "Big Blue World" on the Inside the Magic Podcast earlier this summer, identified (unless I'm crazy - which is completely possible) as a part of the score for Nemo the Musical.
Would it be too presumptuous to just assume that the song will be used in both Nemo attractions?

The song is/was part of the Nemo musical. It was featured in Anne Hamburgers' presentation for the 50th, as several singers stood in a semi-circle and gave it a go.

It was since mentioned that the song would be used for both attractions. This apparently confirms it, so you're not presumptuous ;)

I doubt they are real audio-animatronics though...there probably going to be chucky cheese quality plastic figures with limited movement (like just the mouth opens/closes and the figure is static)

I don't see why you're doubting me.
I have been inside.
I have seen the entire ride.
I have seen the projections.
I have seen the anglerfish.

I'm not too excited, but it sounds alright. The ending however, sounds a little odd. Characters singing songs before you exit sounds a little on the cheesy.

Well, then again, virtually every "old" EPCOT classic that many on here wish could come back had a song at the end. They were all taken out for whatever reason, but I do think it added something to those rides. I still have fond memories of those songs such as "Tomorrow's Child", "Universe of Energy", and "Living with the Land". Plus, from the press sample of this song for the new AK musical, I think it will be a very nice song and way to end the ride. We'll see.

^^Probably about 3-4 minutes based on best guesses. Around what a typical Fantasy Land-style darkride/C ticket runs.
