Need Cake NOT Hurricanes PTR

(a Pre Trip Report fueled by cake dreams and prayers that we won't have to deal with any land-falling hurricanes during our drive along I-10)

About a week after we got home from our WDW in December, I starting getting ideas of going back for DD4's 5th birthday. It was only supposed to be a little thing...and I mean little. i.e. driving up in the morning for a day at MK, a bday meal, a night at a resort, and a drive back to my parents' house in south Florida the following morning. Besides...we had a big ski trip planned as well as several other small things...so anything moderately major to WDW was out of the question.

Fast forward to mid February...kids are at grandma's and I'm in New Orleans with DH living it up while he's in business meetings all day. I sat there at the hotel bar, frozen mudslide to my right – bloody mary to my left...and my computer in the middle. :p We were around the 180 day mark for the dates I was looking at for our little blip of a trip, when I started to scheme- mainly b/c I had some grand ideas that couldn't be realized in such a little trip. DH had no clue, but I booked dining that day. I'd end up canceling it all and rebooking things after the trip got tweaked, but for now- this was my happy magical little secret.

By March, our ski trip didn't sound like it was going to happen. Various friends warned me that the local schools are very strict when reinforcing the state's attendance laws- so we were suddenly very limited with our travel dates, airfare was going nuts because of Libya (still is nuts), and none of the top ski schools wanted to work with a child who had recently turned 3 – so DH and I decided that skiing would have to wait. This was also the time that I informed DH about some room only discounts at WDW that would be expiring soon. He wasn't in love with the idea, but agreed that a smaller trip might be fun for DD4's birthday. I pretty much sprinted off with my phone at this time to book room reservations. I had to change the dates of our trip, which also meant I had to rebook all that dining (which I rebooked a third time after I revamped our park visiting schedule), but I was soooooo happy to be booking a trip. :sohappy:

So, now that I've given you an abridged version of our life story from December until present day, I might as well introduce us all...

This is DD4 (Kendall)...i.e. the one turning 5 on this trip. Kendall is our drama child- in the good, bad and scary ways. Most times it's just melting down over silly little things or coming up with crazy stories- like why we need to get her a silver Porsche 911 Turbo...but, she was recently diagnosed with a severe allergies to peanuts and tree nuts and that's our current major drama.

This is DD2 (Sammie)...she is our easy going super sweet child...except during our last trip to WDW when she decided to act like she was 2. At least she is now fully potty trained, so I won't have to lug around diapers all day.

***While my avatar is a pic with the girls, these bluebonnet pics are the best most recent pics of both girls.

This is me (Sandy) and DH (I think he wants to stay DH). We both work in the financial industry...and aside from vacation planning, I have a cake hobby (more on that later), and want to get back into singing after the kids get a bit older.

***Really sad that the best pic of us involves us wearing helmets in the middle of the jungle!!! - even worse, the crowns I added to it at 2am one night when I was dealing with some insomnia!

So, now to the details of our trip. Just for the record, some of our dining has changed since I posted some threads on the dining forum- tweaked the schedule to make the most of our time.

Day 1- Aug 12th – leave the Houston area and drive to eastern side of Mobile Bay in Mobile, AL.
-trying to plan activities along the way...maybe a nature walk at the Texas Welcome Center to look for gators and a stop at the Tiger Truck Stop just outside of Baton Rouge to see the tiger.

Day 2- Aug 13th – drive from Mobile, AL to Orlando, FL.
-Once again- we'll have a few fun stops on the way. A person on Tripadvisor recommended a human maze in the Pensacola, FL area and we'll probably show the kids some things in Gainesville, FL since I lived there for several years. We're spending the night in a cheap, yet surprisingly highly rated, motel on Irlo Bronson that's just a couple of miles from the WDW Maingate.

Day 3- Aug 14th - wake up super early, check out of the motel, and check into the Contemporary!!! :sohappy: It's not my dream of staying in the tower (i.e. we're in the Garden Wing), but it's tops in convenience when you have a 30lb stroller and a little over 60lbs of kids to push around. To me, no other resort says Disney more than the CR, so this is such a happiness factor for me.

I hadn't mentioned it yet, but the WDW aspect of this trip is a surprise for our girls. The plan is to have DH drive while I man the video camera- hoping I get that great “OMG we're at Disney” reaction. :D So basically- I'm hoping for tons of happy screams and squeals. And if it's a decent reaction and video- I'll be sure to get it on YouTube so I can include it in the actual trip report.

I'm sure our room won't be ready at that hour, but we'll get as much settled as we can and head over to the MK so we can make the most of day 1.
Originally, I'd planned on lunch at Crystal Palace and dinner at California Grill during Wishes, but that just eats too much of the day. I canceled Crystal Palace, but then DD4 told me she wanted to see the fireworks in front of the castle and see the parade with all the lights. She was KILLIN' ME!!! This was going to be our only time in the MK, and I was also starting to think DD4 may be on to something. Then DD2 had a night where she wouldn't let go of one of her Pooh bears...so, needless to say, I decided to redo our ENTIRE schedule. I canceled the Cali Grill ADR and booked Crystal Palace. I was able to get a 5:55pm slot, which should give us ample time for naps and enough time to find a place for MSEP and Wishes. DD2 is going to be soooo happy.

MK is open until 2am for EMH- not sure how long will last, but we'll try to make the most of it...especially since DD4 is finally 40” tall!!! (yes, we have short kids).

Day 4- Aug 15th- get up early and make it to DHS before opening

-We are going to play this day by ear....DHS is open until 11pm, but nap time and dinner are also concerns.

We have a 9:35pm ADR at 'Ohana, which will hopefully make up for us missing 'Ohana last trip (stupid monorail issues). This was originally going to be our Epcot day with dinner at Le Cellier, but with all the reports of dinner quality not being worth the $ and the other schedule changes I needed to make- doing DHS this day seemed to make the most sense.
Even though DHS is open late, I think if we can get enough in before say 5 or 6pm, we'll probably head back for a late rest before our late dinner ressie. DD4 begged for Belle in her yellow dress for her bday and we missed Beauty & the Beast last visit, so this is part 1 of me fulfilling that wish.

Day 5- Aug 16th- BIRTHDAY DAY!!!!!!!!

We start out with a 7:05am ADR at Chef Mickey's. It just seemed like the PERFECT way to start off DD4's 5th birthday. And hopefully, there will also be Skyping with grandma and grandpa as well as a cake (see farther down for cake details). I've also picked DD4's bday outfit and have it hiding in the closet. She's just asked that if we get her special shoes- we leave them in a gift bag in front of her bday outfit (no- she's not demanding or anything). The princess tiara mouse ears we got to go with it are the only really Disney part to it, but it's mainly her fave color (which she likes to call “dark pink” and involves a pouffy pettiskirt and cupcake with a candle top with pouffs and bows- So, she'll be happy).

I also bought DD2 her first pair of ears- Minnie ones (princess dresses trip 1- ears trip 2). I'm also debating about letting DD4 pick out her own pair of new special shoes as an “unbirthday” gift.

After breakfast, we head over to Epcot – and hoping to do MUCH more than we did last time.

We have a 12:45pm lunch ADR at Le Cellier...since this seems like the better deal for the $. I still don't love having a lunch, but DH has asked that I keep this...since this was supposed to be his meal.

After lunch and maybe one more attraction/ride it's back to the hotel for nap/rest time.

We return to Epcot for a 6:40pm ADR at Akershus. Here's where I really make good on that Belle in her yellow dress wish.

After dinner, we'll try and find a place somewhere in the WS for Illuminations...after that, it's evening EMH, so we'll try and get in a few rides before we're ready to drop!

Day 6 – Aug 17th- Rest Day (mainly) – today is intended to be a more lazy day

We have a 10:15a ADR at Kona...basically so that everyone has a day to sleep in

I currently have a 1pm appointment for both me and “at that point DD5” at BBB in DTD. Basically mommy/daughter princessification. I know Kendall really wants to do this again and I think it would be a blast (so, basically I don't agree with the WDWMagic member who posted on my old thread that any adult who does BBB should be slapped...not right!). I still may cancel it b/c I think I really just want a super lazy day at the pool and that just doesn't work well with glittery princess hair. We'll see.

After nap time and maybe wandering the resorts a bit, it's time to get cleaned up for dinner at Cali Grill. Right now we have a 7:30pm ADR. It's not the ideal time in my mind, but maybe Wishes will be starting up as we're paying, so we can just go outside, watch it, and head back to the room to get some sleep. This is my belated bday meal. DD4 and I are exactly 1 week apart with our bdays (a couple of CRAZY Leos!!!).

Day 7 - Aug 18th- Check out with a silver lining.

We have a 7:50am ADR at 'Ohana. I booked something like this last trip, hoping for one last hoorah with Mickey, but it was just too much of a time issue with DME and all of the packing, but this time we're driving and while we are hoping for a morning start back on the road, an early meal with Mickey and DH's fave – STITCH -seems like it might work this time.

I'll be sad to check out and leave WDW, but the real silver lining is our overnight stop on the way back. Since a trip to Vegas for us this year is super iffy and DH has been itching to go somewhere (since had a bad experience at the blackjack table at Harrah's in New Orleans and we're kind of tired of Lake Charles, LA), so for Father's Day- we gave him the gift of gambling. So, the plan is to spend the night in Biloxi, MS. The choice was between the Beau Rivage and the Hard Rock. While the Hard Rock looks nice and modern and I've heard the beds and showers are divine, the Beau is supposedly better for gaming + it reminds me soooo much of the Bellagio in Vegas. So- the Beau it is.

Day 8- Aug 19th- the day when the sadness really sets in.
I told DH I'd drive this final leg and let him sleep (i.e. so he can play blackjack until the sun comes up if he so chooses). If I can make it back early enough- maybe we can even get the dog.

And while we'll be all sad that the trip is over. Kendall will be starting Kindergarten on Monday- so we'll have plenty to occupy our time to help us focus on the next big thing!

*IT'S A LOT OF DINING- yeah- I know, we have a ton of ADRs, but considering we did 10 TS meals last trip - which was 6nts/7days- what we've booked this time is on par with that. I think TS meals also help the kids calm down a bit after getting all excited while out in the parks.

So, let me just address my hurricane fear. I've lived in a number of places, but having lived in NJ, FL and TX (only about 40 mi from Galveston)...I have a bit of a fear of these kinds of storms. It doesn't help that some of my dad's degrees are in meteorology- i.e. weather obsession. I'm not overly concerned with a storm crossing FL while we're at WDW. I mean- it wouldn't be pleasant, but it's not like having a Cat5 'cane bearing down on the gulf coast...and considering the pummeling the gulf portion of I-10 has taken in a variety of storms...it's a valid concern. So, we're just praying we make it to WDW and back without any issues.

And finally- cake. As you may have seen on some of my posts...cakes are one of my big hobbies. My cake gallery is still pretty small, but some of my cakes have been Disney themed in case you want to take a look... http://www.flickr.com/photos/houcusechickie/sets/72157624710575326/ I'm making DD4 a cake for her class before we leave on this trip. This year's cake...the Barbie Dreamvette...with Barbie and Toy Story Aliens. I don't plan on taking the remnants of this cake with us to WDW and Kendall MUST have a nice cake on her actual birthday, so I'm going to have to swallow all of my phone anxiety and call the Contemporary to start working with them to get a quote on my WDW cake idea. All cakes start with a sketch...and here are mine. The second one is a rough sketch I made while doodling during a client call. The first one is the final sketch (done while my computer took forever to boot up at work)...although still not sure if I want the roses on the base lined up with the framed edible character images (like they are on the final sketch) or if I want them in between the images (like they are on the rough sketch). OPINIONS ANYONE???

I'm nervous to call about the cake, but even more nervous to give them my sketches. Having seen enough non-wedding cakes produced at WDW, I know they can do a white chocolate Belle and edible images, but I'm bracing myself for the price tag. I'm fully expecting around $250. It's really not a bad price when you consider all that goes into an ornate cake, but it's a lot of $ for a cake for 4 people. Still- I'll probably go for it!

What's really nuts, I've sketched this cake twice, but I have yet to sketch the Dreamvette!!! It might be good if I start sketching the cake I'm actually making!!!

So, that's pretty much it. I'll probably update this if I have any major progress with the cake or significant changes to dining or plans in general...or if I left out some silly minute detail that makes me nuts that I forgot to include it!

Thanks for reading!

Woohoo! I love how "mini" trips become full-on trips! I think it's so fun that you're surprising the girls... I can't wait to read all about it.

Weighing in on the cake... I like the offset roses! Great inspiration drawings, by the way. :sohappy:

Looks like a real plan. That is a LOT of driving, way too much for us. I hope we all have a real quiet hurricane season.

For many years what was left of hurricanes made their way up here, but as tropical storms, they left us hearty ocean folk pretty unimpressed compared to the winter storms with their 40 plus foot seas.

However, last September hurricane Igor scored a direct hit on Eastern Newfoundland as a cat 1. It was a wake up call to all of us. I am hoping we see nothing like in on the last two weeks of August

WooHoo! :sohappy: So exciting! I think your cakes are uh-maz-ing!

Best of luck with all of your trip plans - driving, surprising, etc.

Love those bluebonnet pictures. My parents used to take us out in the bluebonnet fields every year to take our pictures. Such lovely memories!

I really hope we can keep the surprise. I'm helping a friend plan a trip for her three girls, so that's helped me considerably with my excuses and lies.

Yesterday I was all about aligned roses- today I'm on the same page as you. I'm giving myself until Monday to decide. Funny about the sketches- I've never photographed them before, but a friend suggested I do it (at least for my cakes) so there's proof of how close the cake came to my vision.

Thanks! :D I decided to put up a gallery on Flickr b/c Facebook is blocked at work and my coworkers wanted to see some of the finished products. You'll have to let me know which threads I can find your cakes on here. I just LOVE to look at cakes!!!

It is a lot of driving, but we're hoping it won't be as bad with the way we've broken it up. Both legs of the trip to WDW are each about 500mi and about 8hrs and 20 min of driving if we were to go without stopping. We will be making stops to make this more fun (and for the obvious reasons)...either way, it's better than trying to drive straight through.

Funny that you bring up Newfoundland...my parents are cruising up in that area right now and at some point my dad mentioned Igor. Of course, it's uncommon to have an Atlantic hurricane this time of year, but it's also uncommon for a hurricane to hit that area period.

Our county is usually one of the first in the Houston area to go under mandatory evacuation if there is an approaching storm. We evacuated for Ike back in 2008 and I'm glad we did. We tried to evacuate for Rita back in 2005 when it was a Cat 5 and projected to hit in our area...but it was such a nightmare getting out of town- so we took our chances, returned home and were lucky. Having seen what Rita did to the east of us, as well as other Gulf storms like Ivan and Katrina- driving along I-10 in August is really weighing on my mind.

Like you said- I hope we all have a quiet hurricane season! :)

Thanks!!! Of course, now my kids won't ever want a sheet cake

Every year we talk about doing bluebonnet pics...this year, I just loaded everyone up in the Jeep and headed towards Austin...looking for a nice field (tough b/c of the drought). The kids really enjoyed it...nothing like a couple of little girls with acres of flowers.

What ship are they on, are they visiting St. John's? The weather has been horrible. We have had about three weeks of rain drizzle and fog with highs of 45-55 degrees.

Yesterday was the last day of school in our board, and this is the admin day that clues up our school year. Most years, hundreds of teachers flock to a local night club for happy hour. Most years we are in shorts, this year it will be a parka.

I'm pretty sure it's a Holland America cruise. I know they stopped in PEI, but couldn't make their stop in Sydney due to rough seas. I want to say that Halifax was the next port. What's nuts- I would LOVE that weather! My mom on the other hand...well, she's fully adjusted to the warmth of S. FL and is probably freezing! Of course, 70 degrees sometimes feels chilly to her. Oh well, hope they're enjoying the vacay.

Happy End of the School Year!!! I guess you could still wear shorts... it would just be a tad chilly.

Thank you,

The end of year party is something I haven't missed in 17 years teaching. Tonight will be the worst weather though. I bet the spot will still be busy.

Summer....10 weeks of bliss, with some golf, some time in the camper, and finish it off with Disney. Life is good.

Sounds like a great end of the year celebration. My mom is a teacher, but I don't think any of the school systems she's been in do anything like this. It's too bad b/c I've found these kinds of events to be soooo therapeutic. Enjoy your summer off!!! I'll be sitting at my desk :hammer:

I sometimes make my Disney themed cakes my avatar on here, but everything else just goes on Flickr and Facebook. Love the pics of your cakes. Really like the Tinkerbell cakes and the one with the Mickey piping work. :D The leaf edging on the one cake is something I soooooo wish I could do. I really need to take a piping class- I'm awful at it! I have to make some nut free safe cupcakes for DD4 for a bday party tomorrow- and while I'm all excited about trying the triple strawberry flavor for them-I'm DREADING frosting them! Thinking about making gumpaste crown toppers just to hide my lack of piping skills. :king:

I **knew** you headed towards Austin for the bluebonnet pics! I drove up to visit a fellow Cabbage Patch buddy who lives in Round Rock last spring and was moved to tears more than once by the amazing fields seemingly carpeted in vibrant flowers. Loved it so much. I want to take my dollies and my pooch for pics next year!

The plans all sound totally fab. I'm pretty familiar with Pensacola (all my mom's family has lived there forever and I've lived there a few times). The thing I would recommend aside from the beaches that will knock your socks off would be the Naval Aviation Museum on the Navy base. I grew up with that as my 'base' of what a museum should be. When I went to the Smithsonian's Air & Space museum I was extreeeeemely disappointed. That's how awesome the Naval Aviation Museum is. Admission is free but the IMax and a few simulator rides have a fee. There's tons of little cockpits the kids can sit in and play with the switches. It's so fun! My kids have always loved it.

The cake! Girl, that's a killer sketch! How big a cake are you wanting? 6", 8", or 10"? You'll likely be refered to Cake Man Brian. I emailed with him last year. I think with all your specifics it'll be hard for him to dumb-down your cake like he did mine. I've seen so many amazing creations from him. I think you'll be in good hands. I'm interested to see how the taste is for you. Be sure to keep me posted. On the roses, my vote is for offset just because it fills the gaps. Definitely keep a rose detail. It's so perfect for the theme. Be sure to specify that molded chocolate Belle. Don't let him slap you with a white chocolate flat printed image. :animwink: You totally just did wonders for my ideas for what to order from the Yacht Club bakery for our anniversary dinner at the Yachtsman. Thanks for the inspiration!!!!

So excited for y'all!!! You're gonna have soooooo much fun!

Um, and can I just give ya a little shout-out of big ol' CONGRATS! on getting DD#2 potty-trained! I know that's a heckuva happy milestone for a mom who's been doing so many years of diaper-duty with 2 back-to-back little ones. When I had 2 in diapers I felt like my life was 1 dirty diaper after another. Once I got them both potty-trained I felt like a whole new woman....of course then I was on to my next goal of getting them both where they could get their own bowl of cereal so I didn't have to get up so early. Those were the days..... :D

Last year's bluebonnets were awesome! DH has family in Austin and his dad is in Georgetown, so we drive out that way a bit. It really is incredible to see the fields of blue. The lack of rain this year really put a hurt on the TX wildflowers. We drove to Chappell Hill to find this field...when normally I wouldn't have to drive much past Waller. That would be adorable to do dolly and doggy pics. I must admit that I'd like to get a couple of Cabbage Patch dolls like yours (want ones that resemble my girlies). :D Maybe some day.

The museum sounds GREAT!!! And something like that should wear the girls out enough that they might take a MAJOR nap... Meaning peaceful non-stop driving :D

Technically, we don't need more than a 6", but I can't see the cake being executed properly with something smaller than an 8". I really don't want to do a 10"- aside from it being too much cake, I prefer a 10" when I'm doing tiers. I have detailed notes for the cake, so I really would hope they don't try and dumb down the design. Elminating details to cut costs is one thing, but ignoring them ... well, I wouldn't be too happy. I'm pretty sure I'm going to ask for the offset roses and I will be certain to specify the 3D molded Belle. She pretty much makes the cake...especially since I don't want her fully painted- just dusted/edged in gold luster dust. I really think I'd lose it if they showed up with a cake with a flat printed image of Belle on top. Can't wait to see the cake you've come up with for your anniversary!!! I just LOVE cake design!!! :D

The potty training was HUGE and kind of funny where some of the motivation originated. I told the girls we wouldn't be going back to WDW nor would we be getting a 2nd dog until Sammie was potty trained. So, there she was - about two months after turning 2 - begging to use the potty. She was out of diapers in less than a week and out of pull ups in less than a month. I guess that makes up for her big sis taking FOREVER to potty train. Of course dog #2 is going to wait until after the trip (or longer).Sadly, it's going to be years before they don't need one of us to get up with them. At around 6:25am every Saturday and Sunday, I regret using the whole "the sun is up, so you need to be up" spiel for getting them out of bed for preschool. I guess it will at least help get them up early while on vacay! :sohappy:

*Various Updates*

1. Room Request- I finally stopped beign Miss Indecisive and put in my room request. While I know a room closer to the tower means a quicker walk to the monorail, MK, Chef Mickey's, etc. - if I'm paying for a garden view...I figure I might as well get the view that stood out to me most when we were there back in Dec. So I requested a water view on the first floor. The girl on the phone was great!!! Said she'd also note that we'd be checking in really early and for them to try and meet our request first vs. first available room in the category. I know there's no guarantee that the room we wind up with is exactly what we wanted, but it's nice to know they're going to try.

2. Cake Ordering- The offset roses on the base win, but it was strongly recommended to me that I wait until we're 2 weeks out to order the cake. Apparently, you run a high risk of your cake order slipping through the cracks if you order before this window.

3. California Grill- OK- only a slightly better time, but we now have a 7:35pm ADR (vs a 7:30). Like I said- very slight!

Making this Update Just b/c my Head is SPINNING from the Changes!

Sure, there have been minor changes...like changing Cali Grill from 7:35 to 7:50 and Crystal Palace from 5:55 tp 6pm...as well as some cake thoughts - like my idea to request a red velvet cake w/passion fruit mousse and buttercream icing for the crumb coating so the cake can be red/yellow/white both inside and out (we'll see if Chef Brian can do this or if it's only the GF)...BUT I made one BIG BIG BIG change today that is seriously making my head spin.

So, I was doing the math on all of our dining and it turns out the Deluxe Dining Plan would save us a CONSIDERABLE amount of $. So, I called today to see if I could switch my room only reservation into a pkg yet maintain my 35% room discount and my ticket prices (i.e. bought before they went up). It took some doing, but not only were they able to do it- they managed to save me another $48.34.:sohappy: The only sad parts 1) I initially had a room request for a 1st floor water front room- but she told me the only rooms fitting that description are suites. It was also odd that she said she could book me into a specific room today. In the end, we just left room preferences on the reservation b/c she wasn't finding anything open fitting my description. Odd. 2) the part of the system to add celebrations to the reservation (i.e. our birthdays) was also not working, so I have to call back to get that done. I'll probably also ask again about the room request when I call.

So, now that I have the deluxe plan, I have a few more credits...so we booked a breakfast at CRT on our arrival morning (enough time to grab some FastPasses and ride a few rides before check in) + I added Hollywood Brown Derby for an early lunch on day 2 since our dinner at 'Ohana that night isn't until 8:15p (oh yeah- that was one of ther other updates- getting a better time for 'Ohana the other week :D). Now I am 1 TS meal over my credits. Ideally, I want to find a breakfast spot for 'Ohana on the 17th- i.e. shift my ADR for the 18th to the 17th and cxl Kona. 30 days until we check in- so I feel pretty confident we'll get that worked out. Of course I could always cancel LeCellier. I want to try it and it is a lunch ADR, but it's on a day when we have a breakfast, a big cake, and a big dinner...all of which take priority over Canada. I guess I can let DH decide.

Of course I was so frazzled in all of it that I forgot to tell the CM who booked CRT and HBD for me about all of our food allergies....so another phone call I'll need to make b/c of my insanity! :hammer: Of course, now I also have to switch the $ around a little bit differently since this wasn't how I was planning on doing it...i.e. now I have to wait for credits to hit certain accounts to square up everything. FUN! :zipit:

I guess at least all of the girls' cutesy new outfits and shoes have been purchased and new Disney movies for the road trip portion are also on the way (Lady & the Tramp, Monsters Inc, Nemo, Aristocats + the 2 disc park CD and one of the classic CDs that has MSEP/Baroque Hoedown).

Now to still decide on clothes for me and whether or not to renew the AAA membership.

OK- I feel a little more sane after writing this! Only 30 days to go until we check in and 28 for the road trip to begin!!!:sohappy:

EDIT- so, DH didn't really like the idea of HBD (he wants to make sure the girls get a stop inside Pizza Planet!) and would prefer to return to 1900PF for breakfast (he LOVED it) over going to Kona. So, I was able to get an ADR at 1900PF around the time of the Kona ADR I cxld and cxld HBD. So, we were 1 credit under vs 1 credit over like we were before. OY! Breakfast on our DHS day seemed the way to go. I know Cape May is more popular in that neck of the woods, but we're going to try Hollywood & Vine prepark opening. From all that I've read, the character interaction here is awesome just b/c it's not as well attended. My kids are familiar with all of the characters (even if they weren't, they like pretty much any costumed character), so problem solved!
