NBA Playoffs

Game 3 is obviously do-or-die. Boston has held serve, but L.A. probably needs to win all three of these games, something that I don't think has ever been done in the 2-3-2 format.

2-0

C's will take game 4 to go up 3-1... lose game 5... come back home and take game 6... and the crowd at the Garden will chant;

SIIIIIIDEKICK

SIIIIIIDEKICK

SIIIIIIDEKICK

SIIIIIIDEKICK

SIIIIIIDEKICK

Did you know during game 1 the crowd kept chanting "No means NO"

What I like is that Boston forced LA to win it in Boston. That's huge in itself.
True. In order for L.A. to win, they have to take at least one in Boston; now it could possibly be two. I don't see that happening. This is why you've got to get a split on the first two games.

Wow, did not realize how many Celtics fans were on the boards. Good to see the green getting some love.
After the last series against Detroit, I think that the Celtics will pull off one win on the road at least and take the series at home. Initially I thought that the Lakers would blow us out of the water, but the Celtics bench is too dominant over the Lakers bench.

i've always liked our chances simply because we matchup so much better against LA than we did Detroit...

no one can guard Pierce... NOBODY... and KG SHOULD be dominating Pau... we're bigger/stronger...

I agree with you too... Lakers win tomorrow night, C's win thursday, Lakers win Sunday... Series comes home Tuesday... NUMBER 17 (and I just realized... that will be JUNE 17TH)

coincidence?!??!!

i don't think sooooooo

Ha you guys talk about NBA playoffs on this board?!?!?! THAT IS AWESOME!!!

personally I am a Wizards fan, but since they can't get out of the first round every year I have to root for other teams

I was pulling for the Lakers coming into the series because Boston has just won too much in every sport recently, but the Celtics(bench especially) have really surprised me. Woulda been an amazing comeback had the Lakers won last night

Don't worry, the Lakers will win tonight.

The refs are in the NBA's pockets and this is one of the highest rated NBA Finals in recent history so...you can be assured that the NBA will "make sure" it goes at least 6 games.

I hope they prove me wrong...but it's just the vibe I've been having since Game 1.

Celts will win 1, 2, 4, 6

^Theory or no theory...WE WON!!!!! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

I couldn't watch, but my cell phone actually behaved and I kept checking in on the score via internet. I hated not being able to watch.

Congrats! It was a great game...although I think the only people playing were Kobe and Allen

Celtics win thursday, lose Sunday... win game 6... it's that simple...

btw... i love how with the national media... the C's won game 2 strictly because of terrible officiating (which is true) and then the Lakers won last night because they wanted it more... because they were aggressive, and because the Celtics didn't have it...

little bias in the national media??!?!?!

When it comes to basketball broadcasting...I hate nobody more than Stephen A. Smith.

you see his postgame interview 1 on 1 with Kobe? he was allllllll over him...

i hate that guy so much...
Let's make that three of us.

I'm about done with the NBA. I grew up with the game in the 70's and was a huge fan in the 80's, but interest in the game and the league has been waning for years with me. I swore off the NBA last year, but got interested again this season with the Lakers success and my son loves them. However, I've not watched 5 minutes total of the finals so far...I just can't get into it. And now, with this Tim Donaghy stuff hitting the fan, I think the NBA could be in some deep doo-doo. And this will drive me even further from the game. Stern is taking the stance you would expect, but there's a lot of details in Donaghy's story that I don't think he could make up. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and what damage control the NBA must do. All this after a great season and higher TV ratings.

i've got a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge issue with kobe by the way...

i've given this guy all the credit in the world up to this point... but after last night... i'm sick of the guy... he is a completely selfish jerk...

he honestly just wants to make the Refs look wicked bad... that's almost all he's trying to do... it's unreal...

look... we get it... NBA Refs call fouls sometimes that aren't fouls and guys get angry... but Kobe... you got EVERY call last night... literally... and then...

Ray takes a three, the guy is 5-5 from three... his shot line drives 8 feet left of the hoop out of bounds airball and they call a foul...

AND HE SPRINTS AROUND THE COURT LIKE "OOOOOHHHH MY GOD YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!"

dude... there's a 0% chance of you having NOT hit Ray's arm... it's impossible... and guess what, 548734743857348 people watching at home get the replay... AND NO WAY... you hit his arm!!!! who woulda thunk it...

then... he makes an absurdly nice play where he spins PASSED James Posey, pulls up, double clutches in the air, and drains a jumper in the lane... it was a sick move... and yet... he absolutely CRIES OUT "AND 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and then yells at the refs afterwards...

of course... we get the super duper slow mo cam and.... LITERALLY NO ONE EVEN MADE CONTACT WITH HIM... Kobe... YOU DIDN'T EVEN TOUCH ANOTHER HUMAN BEINGS BODY... be it your teammate, them by your own fault, them by their own fault... no... YOU LITERALLY DIDN'T EVEN COME WITHIN A FOOT OF TOUCHING ANOTHER HUMAN BEING... and yet you cry out "AND 1!!!!!!!!!' and yell at the refs...

then at the end of the game he hits Pierce three times before its finally called a foul... does his sprinting down the court routine again trying to get everyone against the refs... and on the replay... the two biggest Kobe homers (jackson and van gundy) simply say "Kobe, you fouled him, that's a foul... look, right there, we're watching you, you hit him three different times, just play the game" you could tell they were getting sick of it...

and on the replay... the replay barely even catches this but I have DVR so i rewound it 3-4 times... right when replay cuts in he is going around a screen set by KG... AND HE SWINGS AT KG... he literally takes a swing at KG as he comes around the screen...

he is a punk... a completely arrogant, ignorant, selfish, PUNK...

leading up to the series and so far in the series i've been praising Kobe for how "MJ-like" he is... that he'll never be as good as MJ but he has a skillset nobody else but MJ had...

well... Kobe disgraces the game of basketball and should never EVER be in the same breathe as MJ again... EVER...

If I'm David Stern I decide... Kobe obviously plays out this series... but I suspend him next year for 3-5 games.... it's a joke... he disgraces basketball...

:brick:chill out.

You ever hear of Elvin Hayes? Elvin NEVER, EVER committed a foul in an NBA game, according to him. Kobe is playing the refs like every other player in the league does. He's not doing anything that any other player in the league has done. Admit it, it's all a joke--the entire league.
