Mystic Manor at HKDL Video

That would be so cool if Little Mermaid used LPS, advanced audio-animatronics and groundbreaking special effects like featured on Mystic Manor...
like instead of a screen where ariel turns into a human they actually had a animatronic and a full room for it? And a room with a giant ursula fight scene. I just can't help but feel it could have been way better.

There's concept art when the ride was going to be like Peter Pan, and one of the pieces has a giant Ursala.

MM looks like an amazing ride. It's no Little Mermaid ride (watch out for dripping sarcasm) but still amazing nonetheless.

Thank you!!! Now while many of the scenes are chronologically out of place I feel if they fixed all those aspects I would have loved this ride. the whole submerging feeling is much more present when you know, you actually submerge into something and not just have bubbles fly over your head

Yeah, the submerging is better, but I suppose I prefer the no-line that will ultimately result from the omnimover than the enormous line ala peter pan. One of the Imagineering books had concept hard using the trackless technology. Now, that would have been awesome.

I may be in the minority, but I like the little mermaid ride, and my daughter loves it. But, we need C tickets and E tickets. We'll have to see how the mine train comes out, and I'm optimistic, but it looks very short. Mystic Manor is the epitome of the Disney we know and love, and it is very telling that WDW no longer builds rides like that. WDW is supposed to be the flagship Disney property, not the red-headed stop child that TDO treats it like. Actually, they just treat it like an ATM machine.

Probably just me, but I feel Mystic Manor wouldn't really fit well in Adventureland nor the AK. I feel that in order for this to come to the world and be perfectly executed, a Mystic Point would have to be constructed in some park (AK would be my choice). Having said that, this attraction is simply amazing and wished the attractions in NFL were executed like this in terms of show quality and substance. Any idea how much of an attendance bump this attraction/land will give toward the HKDLR?

And that my friends, is how to effectively use screens in an attraction.

After seeing this video, I have another idea what the EPCOT mystery project is. Notice the 3-dimensional lightning effect. When I saw this, it immediately reminded me of the original concept art for Living Seas, where King Neptune had lightning bolts shooting out of his hands. Maybe they feel that they've perfected this effect to the point that the original concept for Living Seas can now be realized! Maybe the EC mystery project is a full realization of the original Living Seas concept! Just a thought...

Even though the effects were very impressive, I have to ask, why not create another version of the Haunted Mansion? It was good, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd choose Haunted Mansion.

I like the ride don't get me wrong I just feel that they really could have done better with it but I do understand there is a need for small and cute rides its just I felt that the Little mermaid franchise deserved better considering how it started the entire disney renaissance and thanks to the film we have many of the classic films from that era today. Add I completely agree its time we head back to innovation and realize that as the leading park in terms of guests every year its time we show we deserve it with state of the art attractions. Seriously when was the last real e ticket built at the magic Kingdom? Splash? Thats ridiculous.

I see this fitting Adventureland better then Animal Kingdom, unless if you really emphasized mythological creatures in Henry Mystic's collection for an imported version.

The trick with Adventureland though is space and how to get guests to the expansion pad they had set aside for Fire Mountain as well as making it blend. Would probably have to re-route Jungle Cruise like what happened with Disneyland's when they put Indiana Jones in. If you could get Mystic Manor and a small Aladdin area into that expansion pad so that they could relocate the carpets there, that'd fix some of Adventureland's issues.
It's too similar to Haunted Mansion. I was more excited about it before seeing the video. Maybe something else with the same ride system for Adventureland.

No thanks.

I'll take a direct lift to either AK or Adventureland.

17 likes for that post, Numero Dos? Seriously, I think people like you more the less you write!

I won't even be thread police and explain this belongs in the international resorts board.

And, no, I didn't watch it and don't intend to as I hope to ride it this year. But this has no place at DAK or Adventureland. It is where it belongs. Be happy with value engineered clones and remodeled malls.

The effects are mind-blowingly amazing. What a pity TDO is too damn cheap to fund something that incredible for the U.S. parks. Crumbs, that's all we get. Crumbs and broken yetis!

Having said that, the storyline of that ride isn't all that compelling to me. But I think it would be awesome if a Sorcerer's Apprentice dark ride were created with that level of effects. Imagine a great AA of Mickey putting on the Sorcerer's hat and all heck breaking loose. THAT would be an incredible ride!
