Mystery Project at Epcot

The question is, how would Kennedy handle the theme park side since all her professional experience is on the movie production side.
Sorry to plug another thread, but please check the latest posts in the monorail thread. My star witness with the star evidence we've been waiting for has testified!

Look at that Gemini plan... Notice what it says for WoL.... Might it be possible that this is one element from that plan that wasn't Cancelled and that's what we're going to get? It's possible, considering all the time that's lapsed!!!!!

The elements that lived on from the plan:
  1. Soarin' except with a Cali theme
  2. The Seas did get a makeover, just with Nemo instead.
  3. Wonders of Life closed.
  4. Mission: SPACE opened, but I that was happening before these plans were made.

I think a very close version of Gemini was pretty much green lit before Eisner left. Just like the MK plan at that time (which included major updates of all the classics plus Fire Mountain and Bald Mountain) stated pretty much on track and then for some reason derailed some time after Eisner left. My guess is that, with the projects' most powerful supporter no longer at the helm, they kind of fell of the radar scope.

Aside from having no relation to EPCOT Center, Mystic Manor is the current "Mystery Project" listed on Rees' website. This is a new project.
Just a thought. They announced Avatar too soon maybe because the news they wanted to get out was that they made a deal with James Cameron. Any way, that project was scheduled for 2015. Rees' new mystery project is scheduled for 2015. Between the two, we have DAK and EC covered. What if Rees' project, along with a detailed unveiling of Avatar, as well as a new announcement for DHS, and possibly also MK (opening of SWMT in 2014 might be the MK element but maybe something else too is planned for MK in 2015) are part of a big announcement coming later this year or 2014 of something new opening at each of the parks in 2015. This is what happened in 2003 (or was it 2004?) when they announced Soaring for EC, EE for DAK, Stitch for MK, and Lights, Motors, Action for DHS for 2005.

Anyone know when this was announced exactly so we can draw parallels?

Don't know the detailed timeline, but an "early" announcement to shoot a volley over Uni's bow would make sense.

Then again, I don't care for Avatar, so...yeah, I don't want to see it built. Politics, fine. Otherwise, I think there is so much back to basics they could focus on to improve the current Parks aside from Avatar.

All that being said (it sounds overly negative, I don't mean it to be), I'd still go see Avatarland if it's ever built!

can you link his website?
Someone else can here. I only know about him and his website because I listened to an hour-long podcast interviewing him. He mentions the mystery project at the very end. He said that Mystic Manor was listed on his website as a mystery project before just recently when it was disclosed that it was Mystic Manor. Now, there's a new mystery project listed, he said, that will open in 2015 at EC.

I have not seen his website either. So, someone please link us! Thanks!

Try to let go of whatever it is you are feeling about Avatar so that we are focused on nailing this. We need the timeline of the announcements for the 2005 additions!

2015 - New Attraction - Rumor - (3/22/13) In a new interview on the Season Pass Podcast with Disney Parks Dir. Jerry Rees, he mentions a new mystery project is in the works for Epcot that will open in 2015. I’ve yet to hear anything solid on what this could be just yet, but I’ll make a couple of guesses.
I’ll be surprised if they are working on any new ride or major attraction in World Showcase, so lets leave that half of the park out for now. There are two obvious points that should be address in Future World at the moment however... either a new attraction to replace Captain EO once and for all (which is always a benefit, as they can clone it out to the other Disney parks who also have the same need), or to finally put something new into the old Wonders of Life pavilion. It’s got to drive Disney management crazy to have a big pavilion like that just sitting there empty, along with the fact that it was once home to a couple of popular attractions: Cranium Command and the Body Wars simulator ride. Since Body Wars was based on the Star Tours hardware, I’d love to see it get upgraded and put to use again as well... assuming any of the cabins are still in there and weren’t scrapped for parts long ago. As a third guess... I’d throw a much needed upgrade or transformation at the Universe of Ellen...err... Universe of Energy into the mix as a possible concept too. Anyone else know more?
