Mystery Project at Epcot

I respect that. A lot of people get y and entitled but then don't put their money where their mouths are.
I already no longer go to HS. AK is pretty much there too. I'd hate to add more to that list, but have no problem doing so.

BTW, I wasn't directing any snarkiness at YOU; just the situation.

That's what you have to do. Some folks seem surprised that fan site message board complaints don't drive change but that's not where the power lies. Your dollar is your vote.

A Newer Hope!

According to the above article, Tom Staggs is the top candidate right now to take on the top job as CEO when Iger resigns in 2015.

He is the one who decided that FLE needed a Snow White Mine Coaster and that Hyperion Warf needed to be replaced by a much more massive project called Disney Springs.

Imagine what he would green light for WDW if he's elected CEO!

The article also says Kathleen Kennedy is also in the running. Both would be great!

I like very much!

Yes. One of the ride proposals was to also use the theatre space with a larger link between the two.

Personally I'd be happy with a decent ride that uses all the original ride space (grrrrr)

I've heard that space is needed for storage of old school tungsten filament light bulbs. Remember how there were piles of crap everyhwere and CMs pushing giant carts full of stuff constantly before WoL, World Showplace, and the excessive room in Imagination were put to such good and creative use. Don't even get me started on all the meetings between business executives that took place around folding card tables out by Odyssey. Thank god they can meet in WoL now and not in the elements. I mean, EPCOT has truly been turned into a beacon of brilliance for the guest. Its light has never shone so bright.

Unfortunately, I think Disney has at least found a temporary purpose. Festivals and food. While AK is a half-day park for guest who are only interested in rushing to the next ride and DHS is sorely lacking family attractions, Epcot's attendance is below it's original capacity, but is still the 2nd most visited park. Disney seems to be content to let Epcot plod along (unless the sponsor what a redesign) and live off the few attractions and great food while festivals provide temporary attendance boosts.

As someone who worked at Epcot in 91', I know how great Epcot used to be. I rode WOM and Horizons dozens of times and miss them still. What they've done to Imagination is unforgivable. We all know the many problems of Epcot. However, right now I think they are going to focus on DHS(Radiator Spring Racers) and AK(Pandora). I hope they are realizing what Carsland has done in CA and are still in the mood for spending some cash (I'm talking 500k) to improve this truly one of a kind park once all the other parks get their needed attention. MK is similar to DL, DHS is similar to Universal Studios, AK is similar to Busch Gardens. Not better, but similar. Epcot is similar to what? It someone can think of something permanent (not a World's Fair) that is close, please reply.
I know Epcot can be great again! I agree that a roller coaster running in front of the Land is not the answer. I am not going to pretend that I can think up something better than the imagineers, so I won't even try, but I really hope they are trying to find ways to fixed this unique park and once the money is available, we get to see their plans come to life.

I've said this many times before: EPCOT is the only totally unique Disney theme park in the United States.

^ thank you :)

I know Energy is on the refurb radar, but I believe Life isn't unless it's sponsored. I also know the powers that be are well aware of feelings about Imagination, both in and out of the company. EO can't last forever, there are proposals (amongst many) to use the theatre space for other things. If these, or anything else, come to fruition only time will tell at the moment. Imagination 4 has been on/off for a good 4-5 years now.
EO will be gone by the end of this year. ;)

This could be good news. With Disney's emphasis on ride capacity at all costs, I can't imagine they'd kill the people-eating theater (with or without a new film) unless they felt the combined attraction would have much higher guest rating and capacity than the 2 attractions combined.

Since they already close the pavilion early during non peak times and the few riders Imagination draws in are pale in number to some other future world pavilions, I think any revamp would increase the amount of people that visited the attraction.

I can see TDO taking the safe route and keeping the theater with a new movie and the new ride using the same space currently allotted. Time will tell.

Only if there is a God...otherwise, we are stuck with it. It was lousy when it first came out (yea, I know it was directed by, at the time, the worlds best director) but it still sucked. There is a vacuum in space because it sucked so bad. It was taken out of there years ago because of that and the only difference now is that the star is dead. That didn't improve it in any manner, it just made it nostalgic to watch! That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

Sorry, but it will be gone. Get your last few rides in this year!

Hey, wait! EO (the movie) will be gone or Imagination (the ride) will be gone? Cause i can't ride a movie... :)

EO can't be replaced soon enough (I'd actually prefer magic Journeys - might even kind of nice for a limited engagement. Nostalgia again) and Journey into Imagination can't be upgraded soon enough.

Imagine the same ride system and effects as we are seeing in the new mystic manor attracton at HKDL
but instead of a monkey and an old-time collector we have figment and the dreamfinder. Sounds like an update to the original that has lots of potential to be something super-cool. NOT a rumor, just a pitch from an armchair imagineer.

Seems like a perfect idea. It reunites two original, well-liked characters in a vein similar to the original Imagination attraction with state-of-the-art technology and great guest immersion. Sounds like a true winner! But sadly, it'll probably never come to fruition because of cost :(
