If it was going to be a parking lot, the permit would have had to say so.

Could it just be some kind of overflow facility for the CBR Hub? Like for working on gondola cars. Or even just part of an access road / emergency access between the two stations?

I've said it before, will say it again. If Disney must construct new hotels at WDW, why not construct them at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

It would not only give the Waterparks more attention, but would also add full-service restaurants and shops to the waterparks. Afterall, they're both still one of the most busiest water-parks in the world, yet Disney rarely acknowledges them.
If I had the ability to stay at a Disney Resort themed similarly to Typhoon AND be able to walk right over...that would be my perfect Resort!

I don't see them putting a 15 story tower right in back of the World Showcase.

The name of the game seems to be hotels that are tall enough that they can put a rooftop lounge/restaurant with good views of a nearby night time show. If they put a hotel here, I don't see any scenario where they don't make it tall enough for good views of Illumination. Maybe they are revisiting plans for the Asian themed hotel they originally wanted near Magic Kingdom?

part of this is room count to land ratio too. I think it's unlikely for future resorts to be the large sprawling 2 or 3 story types.

Waterparks are simply not that popular...nor an economic driver.

Did you notice in the attendance figures released last week that the waterparks were down? Or that they can barley be bothered to run transport to them?

They are great diversions...but I’m not sure disney would even build them if they had it to do over again.

These will not happen bc we, the public, do not want them. We as a whole are fatter, lazier, and less mobile. We want to walk out of our room, take the elevator down, and have access to food courts, restaurants, shops, pools, and transportation. We don’t want to walk through manicured gardens over a bridge through an island to our destination.😏

It’s sad. I mean I love sprawling Resorts. But a big complaint you often read is how ‘far’ from everything many vacationers are.

Disney is answering that concern with tower structures. And I hate it.

I agree totally...all points valid.

But another angle is the more sprawling, the larger pure overhead costs it means...like pools and gardens and lawns and more housekeeping drop points/storage areas.

If you’ll stay in a Hyatt or Marriott with scrolling Disney font on the sign out front...they’ll oblige.

Another extremely valid point.

And if Riviera guests want the sprawling Resort feel....they can explore Caribbean and enjoy their food and shopping options.
