From what I understand you will not have to use them. They will give you a RFID room key that will do the same as the band. I do not know if you will have to take the bands from the front desk if you tell them no thanks!

Thanks, Ill just nicely decline them and ask to use our room key or pass card. I could call and ask I guess, but more fun to always ask here lol.

What if someone (like me) does not have a smartphone? How inconvenienced will I be to make changes once I am on Disney property without access to my computer?

There are kiosks spread around the parks, as well as park Guest Relations and hotel lobbies that can be used to view and change FP+ options.

You just lose the ability to do it at-will while you're in a queue, eating lunch, waiting for a parade, etc.

I'm not an expert and don't have first-hand information, but the impression I get from reading here is that you will need the bands to check in at the fp+ entrance to use the fp+.

Why not take the bands, keep them in a sac, or whatever you use to carry stuff (in a no-read bag, if that is your concern), and take them out only when you need to check into your fp+?

I also have no first hand experience, but I read on another website of someone who used their RFID card to get the Mickey head to turn green. So you can participate in MM+ by using the cards. I will try to find the link....

Ok here is the link. It says it wasn't "supposed" to work for APs but apparently it is supposed to work for regular guests. In this case it worked for an AP. but of course, this is technically still just a test so things could change or not work as they are supposed to! Again, I have no first hand personal knowledge but thought this was very helpful reading to prepare for my trip in a couple weeks.

From my FB feed, posted by experienced Disney (and world) travelers:

"So far our tickets have been screwed up costing us half our fun money, my magic band wont work & they can't figure it out, and now it's pouring down rain. I am trying really hard to stay excited!!!! At least I am in disney world right?!?! ( I just can't get in the parks or my room....)"

Nice work screwing up your own product, Disney. First-timers are going to love this....

I suspect us doom-n-gloomers are about to be vindicated on a massive scale about MyMagicMinus and Mouse House Arrest bands

Yeah I am curious to see how MyMagic + and Fastpass+ will work with large groups.

When fully implemented, I am curious to see how MM+ and FP+ will work for anybody. I am booked for fall of 2014 and expect there will be no traditional FP anymore and no option for additional "same day" FP+. I also expect that the long promised "interactive queues" will not exist for the predicted longer standby lines. I am going in a "slower time" so I hope that by using a good touring plan it won't be an issue.

You mean like September where the standby queue at Soarin was moving 20 people per HOUR, That slower time, I can't imagine what it will be like over holidays... MyMagicMinus at its best

I'm a little bummed, doesn't look like we'll get a chance to participate in the trial. While we are staying at ASM, which I believe is now in on the trial, I'm guessing your stay must be a certain amount of time, which makes sense. We are only staying 4 days, 3 nights, one park day and the other MNSSHP. But, maybe missing out isn't a bad thing either.

Why would u be missing out if your resort is in the trial? I booked all my FP and bands for November already and we too r staying at All Stars. Did you go on the Disney website and do online check in? And have all your family profiles completed and package or tickets linked? The length of your stay doesn't matter either...
