While everyone seems fairly unsure about this whole shendig, I've heard the exact opposite reactions from the Guests. I work in the MK and I ask almost all of the Guests involved with the test what they think. All of them have given fantastic reviews. So either they like the benefits of being a "cool-tester with planned fast passes" or it really is a system that will work well inside the parks.

However, they can still get regular fastpasses too at this time...will it still be fantastic when that's gone???

Exactly! If I was chosen to test FP+ along with using the regular FP system - I could get over on my vacation. But that is why I am not reading these so called phenoenal reviews of FP+. When they do the real tests eliminating FP and have guests reply only on 3 FP+ per pay in one park - then talk to me.

They do have quite a nice deal, don't they. It is quite funny seeing them all walking around with their special t-shirts. They think they are so posh!

I doubt they will ever get to the point of charging outright for it. The fact that they are currently able to say that FastPass is included in the cost of all park tickets is a huge selling point to them because they can essentially say "We're not Universal, we don't charge you for this service."

My theory is that everybody will have 3 FP+, bare minimum. On-site, off-site, day guest, AP. Everyone will get 3. I think where the system will have perks and benefits for a premium will be tossed in later but in an indirect way. Rather than the guest's having to pay a flat rate to access the system, I believe that down the road guests who are staying on-site at deluxe and DVC resorts will automatically be granted additional FP+ just for staying at the resort (re: paying more money). Disney could then use this as a selling point for upgrading to a more expensive resort.

Oh you're staying at Pop Century? Well unfortunately, you only get 3 FP+ options a day. Upgrade to Caribbean Beach and you can get 5. Upgrade to Grand Floridian and get 7 AND the ability to book FP+ at multiple parks in the same day.

In this way, Disney could still market the FP+ system itself as "free" to all guests. Which, in a way, is true. You're never handing over money in any one transaction for the right to use FP+, however, the money you're handing over in other transactions across property could very likely determine the overall FP+ experience you have.

This was another theory we have kicked around my house. And I could see it happening if they don't blatantly use it as an add-on option to a base ticket.

If they're still testing all the way into October then why do they have the band accessories and etc. on display and for sale already? Kinda backward. Not surprising though.

Join me, together we can rule the galaxy.
One can only hope. My fear is that as always, the ignorant masses who visit WDW will accept it. That's how we've arrived at the low standard we're at today.

But this system seems to be designed to rip off the people who are too ignorant about WDW to know that they shouldn't waste their precious few FPs on a parade spot or Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. This, in theory, will even things out across the board, so for TDO, no harm done. But those people will feel ripped off. They will go home, and chances are they won't recommend a trip to Disney to their friends or family. I hope that this gives Disney a bad rep, and forces them to take a hard look at themselves.

Believe it or not, there are some people that genuinely want to walk up to a decent parade spot, have a great view without having to camp out a location for an hour so they are not facing the sun, etc. I am not one that expect to use FP+ for a parade/fireworks viewing spot as I see it as a total waste but a lot of parents with young children might really use it and may even find a great value with it. To call people that make a conscience choice ignorant is arrogant and shows a lack of understanding that not everyone has the same values you do.

Is there a source for these "October test" rumors? Because if they're still testing in October, I don't think it's going to roll out in 2013.

The people blowing their FP's on priority viewing are really just gaining the convenience of not having to stake out a spot 90+ minutes before that first parade. Other than that all they're doing is providing the rest of us with FPs for top tier attractions that they gave up to get their fireworks and parade FPs.

Everything seems to suggest people won't be giving up a Space Mountain FP for a Wishes FP. Think of it like the old DDP. You get an appetizer--say, Mansion, Jungle Cruise or Small World. You get a main course--pick a Mountain or Dumbo. And you get a dessert--say Wishes or front of the line at BOG for lunch. But you can't get a Mountain for each course.

A "conscience" choice, no no no! That's the opposite of what I referring to, and I would never insult those who want that option. There might very well be WDW veterans who love that option. I am referring to those who don't know a thing about the parks, and might feel a bit gipped when they have to wait in 70+ standby lines all day after, unbeknownst to them, booking a FP for something that any guest can just walk up to.

Believe me, I was by no means using "ignorant" in the sense that I think them stupid or suggesting that people who actually want FPs for those experiences are stupid, sorry for the misunderstanding. I just think it has the potential to rub inexperienced guests the wrong way when they book FP experiences before actually seeing them, and then discovering that they really weren't necessary.

I honestly don't see how everyone is even going to understand or take part in fast pass+ once it fully rolls out. Not everyone is tech savvy, or even trip savvy.... a reason people have travel agents. As fine as I am, I know several people that will not know how to mess with it. This just seems like something a lot of people will overlook and not use. Regular fast passes were fine because the just made sense and were there at the park when ready. If they want to make it more green, have an RFID scan option instead of a paper ticket. All this pre-planning of fast passes seems like a good way to ruin a vacation with over thinking and worrying over "what to do" even more with planning more and less room for the spontaneous. Dining is one thing, but planning beyond that is excessive.

Next up: fast pass+ style picture opportunities. Plan your photo ops up to 60 days in advance :p

What is going to happen with groups with the magic band? I am taking 175 high school students in January. We stay at all stars with the kids and collect their room keys each day. What do you think Disney will do with groups?

Send them to Six Flags Over Georgia.

I, for one, am ecstatic that groups will no longer be able to get 175 fastpasses at the same time.

This is why I think that when fp+ is rolled out and it's time to market this to new guests, Disney will push the "Let us make the choice for you." option. If it is Disney's goal to keep people at Disney while on their vacation by having them tied to fp reservations, then they are going to want to make sure their guests are using it. I agree that many people when told they need to make fp+ choices will either be too confused or just not care enough to figure it all out. However, I would imagine that anyone would be happy to get front of the line passes by just clicking the option that has Disney choose them for you.

So that leads me to the next thing I am now worrying about with fp+ - at what point will guests be allowed to choose the option of having Disney choose their fp reservations. I wouldn't be surprised that those wanting Disney to choose their three fp's could let Disney know before the 60 day mark. That doesn't mean they would know what three they would have before 60 days out, but if Disney knows they are pulling fp's for, lets say 500 families arriving on July 7th, it makes sense to me that they would take those out of the system, before that day. I can't imagine Disney would have its cm's up at 6:00 a.m. 60 days out, battling witht the rest of us for available fps.

The irony in this is the argument was always made that so many guests didn't understand Fastpass...

What I don't get yet is...

So what if you don't get/understand/use FP+... what's the consequence of this? For three more things you need to wait in line instead?

The argument has already been made for ages that so many people didn't understand FP so they didn't use it.. ok.. so what has changed now? They still won't use it!

I would think Quick Picks would be assigned by the computer when a person clicked the Pick For Me button not by CMs. One could then change or edit the FP+s at 60 days out. It does raise an interesting question of when Quick Picks are assigned, if they do assign them before the 60 day window that reduces the numbers in the pool at sixty days for those who choose to pick for themselves but probably not to any real degree.
