Everyone (edit: MOST everyone) here has said the women looked great as themselves. We're berating Disney's ridiculous, ill-conceived, poorly-executed, greedy service offering. It's not the women's fault. :) This is the kind of cynical, clueless promise of "magic" that showcases Disney at its absolute worst.

Exactly. These ladies looked much better as themselves.

Except for the second from the left who got the Jasmine makeover, but that's only because she needed a new hairdo anyway to play up her pretty face and good cheekbones instead of hide it with a long, flat circa 2008 sorority girl hairdo that never works on a Mom.

Did I just cyber-bully someone again? I can never tell.

still not quite understanding the dissension here

grown women paying for princess makeovers is exactly what twdc wants;
as would be a world of diz cosplayers, especially if they're paying for the privilege.

considering how difficult it can be for some to stop giving twdc money...
how much more difficult is it for someone who's actually paying to look like its characters?

and that didn't happen overnight - they've been worked for years.
does it make any sense to not convert established emotional capital into real capital at each and every available opportunity?

not only a tale as old as time, this is twdc bread and butter stuff

This summed it up perfectly:

Disney World offers adult 'Character Couture' makeovers for grown-up princesses

Dear Disney,

I love you, but why oh why do you keep pandering to the masses with this embarrassing junk? I mean I know why, but could you please show some restraint? I imagine it's just a matter of time before this comes to Anaheim.

Please stop. Please.

Kind regards,

Hans

I think those of us that are voicing negative opinions about this are really just jealous of how amazing the ladies look post princess makeover. We all wish we could drop a Franklin+ to look decades younger (think toddler years). We're also jealous that Disney thought of this brilliant idea to offer consumers top value for their dollar. We wish we had just an ounce of the creative genius that those that came up with this obviously were blessed with.

I have no desire to vacation at a place that charges a premium and encourages adults to walk around in fairytale character cosplay. Disney P&R's recent business decisions have drastically altered my opinion of the parks, and this new service isn't helping to redeem them at all.

This has been a part of the park since opening day. Or is it different if they're not hired by Disney?

So are you're saying that Disneyland is being operated the same today as when Walt opened the park? Not sure what your second sentence means.

Any time I see ugly people at Disneyland or people dressed ugly I think about how we need the Oriental Land Company to come in and ban on exposed cleavage, tattoos, dyed hair, and fat people.

I miss the days when people got dressed up to go to Disneyland. Now a days I think the Six Flags skank factor is getting a little high at Disneyland.

Society changes, many business men used to dress up in suits to go to the office. Now office attire is more relaxed. I've been to many offices where the only time someone wore a suit was during the interview and then never again.
