So are you're saying that Disneyland is being operated the same today as when Walt opened the park? Not sure what your second sentence means.

My comment was a response to this comment:

I have no desire to vacation at a place that charges a premium and encourages adults to walk around in fairytale character cosplay. Disney P&R's recent business decisions have drastically altered my opinion of the parks, and this new service isn't helping to redeem them at all.

Which doesn't make any sense, since Disney has been encouraging adults to "walk around in fairytale cosplay" since the beginning.

Here's Disney in the '50s encouraging some adults (with a financial incentive) to walk around dressed as a rodent:

*shudder* Those costumes are bad.

Or, here's the finale in Fantasmic, with quite a few dressed up in fairytale cosplay:

But, since those don't bother you, I imagine your problem only lies with the fans that choose to have a makeover that's reminiscent of a classic Disney character.

Those fairytale makeovers are certainly not my cup of tea, but they seem reasonably priced- and a somewhat more adult version of what the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique does. I just hope that those photos aren't indicative of their best work. But I imagine that part of that is because of a poor choice of models.

People enjoy dressing up as characters. Cosplay is huge right now. Disneyland is like the ultimate embodiment of fantasy made real- bridging the gap between fantasy seen in TV or our imaginations and reality. If someone's enjoyment of the park is increased by wearing a yellow dress and doing their hair a certain way, then more power to them.

They look rediculous.

Maybe they can spell ridiculous better than you.

Likewise, I am constantly amazed by folks who get upset at the most inconsequential things that will never affect them in any way.

Bingo!

Byeeeeee.

Another friendly reminder to stop worrying about other people and mind your own business.

This is me agreeing with you. Mark the date.

This summed it up perfectly:

Rich T said, "We're berating Disney's ridiculous, ill-conceived, poorly-executed, greedy service offering. It's not the women's fault. :)This is the kind of cynical, clueless promise of "magic" that showcases Disney at its absolute worst".

considering that one of the aspects that makes twdc unique is that it capitalizes on a subjective commodity, probing is part and parcel...
especially since 'the change', there's been a fascinating array of inventive ways to gauge desire to meet demand as much as possible.

suppose some may rub people the wrong way - for example, i've always thought the idea of disney-branded tattoo artists was really interesting, others vehemently opposed.
but, if such a service creates value for these ladies, it thus creates market for twdc, which would be neglectful to deny; and surely there have been, are, and will be more egregious cash grabs.

i see this more as means to augment one's personal magic with 'real' magic, as opposed to acting like magic exists where it just doesn't -
and there certainly are occasional exhibitions of 'over-demand' that make me question my fellow man's appetite, just don't think this qualifies.

I love when people get so angry because they think someone is being a "bully", or has a different opinion that they just can't seem to handle, that they instantly become the very bully they think the other person was being to begin with. It's fascinating.

It's ironic. They could save others from bullying, but not themselves.

Or when they’ve lost the ability to distinguish the bully from the one standing up to the bully, and/or pretend that’s the same thing.
