That brings up an interesting question. Given Disney's progressive nature, I wonder if they would allow men to get a princess makeover?

Doubt it. Or if they did, it'd be nothing like what we'd expect.

Disney is only progressive when it's beneficial to their brand to be. For example, Disneyland used to prohibit same sex dancing inside the park (a policy that caused at least one lawsuit and was dropped in '85)

http://articles.latimes.com/1985-08-14/local/me-2745_1_dance-floor

This same company now has now hesitancy to monetize their support of LGBTQ rights with loads of merchandise, the blessing of the unnofficial "gay days" at the park, etc.

Which I guarantee you they wouldn't be doing if it wasn't good for their brand.

I don't think a bunch of men getting princess makeovers would be beneficial to their in park image. Could make many uncomfortable and be a bit creepy. But I imagine it'd depend a lot on the individual male, the circumstances surrounding it, and however the CM's interpret whatever policies Disney has in place.

imagine being so old and crusty that women putting on make-up for a day infuriated you to the point of complaining about it online and talking about how much better the good ol' days were
Again, we're not putting down the guests. We're calling Disney out on their poor, rip-off, money-grubbing service.

Catching up and hopefully hans returns. Even if we disagree I certainly value everyone's point of view. Even you @TP2000 even if I just took a pointed shot at you in another thread. Hopefully challenging each other's views allows us to grow and not simply retreat to people with whom we agree.

To the topic, Disney has been moving towards capitalizing on the cosplay/Disney bounding thing for a while. You have been able to buy full on outfits for a bit now at very inflated prices. This is for the extreme fan which is a small percentage of the overall market. Personally I would never dress in such a way unless I lost a bet. Others seem to enjoy it and I don't blame Disney for making money off of it. If that puts more money in Disney's pocket which allows them to build more of what I want, then go for it.

I've aways wanted to go to Disneyland dressed in business casual and wearing a cast member name tag. Then I could start telling cast members what to do. I'd probably need an ID card lanyard. I'd probably end up in Mickey jail.

Not if you make your park section run more efficiently!!

But they aren't building what you or I want. They're building what appeals to the Disney makeover group.

Disney World offers adult 'Character Couture' makeovers for grown-up princesses

Dear Disney,

I love you, but why oh why do you keep pandering to the masses with this embarrassing junk? I mean I know why, but could you please show some restraint? I imagine it's just a matter of time before this comes to Anaheim.

Please stop. Please.

Kind regards,

Hans

This summed it up perfectly:

Rich T said, "We're berating Disney's ridiculous, ill-conceived, poorly-executed, greedy service offering. It's not the women's fault. :)This is the kind of cynical, clueless promise of "magic" that showcases Disney at its absolute worst".
I have just come to the conclusion that I really am not the Disney Demo. I NEVER do M&Gs, I'm not a "Disney Fan" I'm a theme park fan, and Disney theme parks have taken a "toddlerized" twist in the past 10 years that is really just kinda weird. Who knew there was a fine line between "young at heart" and kinda creepy.

We did the M&G for our kids...as an adult, I have zero desire to take pics with any character...but I have zero issues with anyone doing it though I have seen some pics where single male men do it with the female characters as a somewhat creepy hobby. For many, it's part of the Disney "fantasy" experience.
