Yes, thank you.

Actually live in Union now and make a trek out to East Hanover or Newark on occassion for this delicasy.
Then I suppose this is a familiar sight to you:

And that is when you order a small fry.

I think everyone that goes to 5 Guys for the first time makes the same mistake. They order a regular bacon cheese burger and a large fry. You end up with half a pound of ground beef, 1/2 a dozen strips of bacon, 2 slices of cheese and a good pound or more of fries. Of course it is all so good so you feel compelled to finish it all and you end up curled up in the fetal position about an hour later mumbling "It was sooooo worth it".

Ha! I totally agree with this. We learned the hard way about Five Guys fries.

As far as my other fry preferences:

McDonald's fries have been a favorite for years (thanks to the salt :lookaroun), I LOVE Nathan's crinkle fries (with no ketchup), I like Chick-Fil-A's waffle fries (once again, no ketchup), and I appreciate good steak fries (frites?) if I can find them. If the spuds are seasoned enough I don't add anything else too them. But one condiment I do enjoy from time to time is curry ketchup. :slurp:

Yes, Heavy Duty Indeed. For people out of the Tri-state area, this is what a Newark Dog looks like.

That's an Italian Hot Dog. 2 Dogs, deep fried, inside a pizza bread, with fried potatoes, peppers and onions. Putting ketchup on this IS acceptable, but purists won't let it come in contact with the dog, just the potatoes. ;)

And another Jersey Dog below. Perhaps the most famous of all:

That is Rutt's Hutt. Another deep fried dog. These are rippers, fried so much they rip open, hence the name. Crispy goodness. You can even order a creamator that is burnt most of the way through. THey are served with "the relish" This concoction is only slightly sweet, slightly sour, but super awesome. They also have Guldens, but no ketchup!

Looks a lot like a R.I. dog with a full new england bun. Good stuff. Try Onleyville in Providence, R.I. for that style too. Those are the places where the countermen pile the hot dogs up their arms as they make them.

Mayo on a dog. That's another new one on me! This thread has been most enlightening.

I actually saw a Chicago style dog offered at a minor league ball park over the weekend, but by that point I was too stuffed full of chili cheese fries and peanuts to even think about getting one. :(

Yes, Mayo is a little strange on a hot dog. Can't say I've had that one. The RI ones that I said were close to that have yellow mustard, a meat sauce (chili), raw finely diced onions and celery salt. I'm not a fan of yellow mustard. To a NYer, it's foreign, but it does go well on these dogs. Mayo, that's another planet.
