MSEP will stay past Nightastic

I saw this thread and already replied to another but thought I'd add my comments..I love MSEP actually my whole family does...I'm okay with Spectro my mom/dad on the other hand could care less...
However we're suppose to be going to DL next summer but were wondering about MSEP..I actually called DL resort and spoke to a very nice/knowledgeable castmember. Anyways he told me rumor has it that MSEP may be around for at least 4yrs at WDW. Disney isn't going to send a parade to WDW for 3mos and then send it back it's costly. Also they're trying to get WOC going at DL as well. He said from what he's heard Spectro has got some major refurb issues.
Again remember all of this is rumors, but I hope this rumor is true because we're going to WDW in 2012 and I wish Disney would come out and confirm dates for people so they can plan trips. The last time I got to see MSEP was on my HM 2000 and my husband was in awe.....

Ii can't believe I haven't posted my opinion on this already on this thread as I have on others regarding this topic.

The Main Street Electrical Parade IS the reason for life on our planet.

Spectromagic is ploddingly magestic. Beautiful, pretty, but plodding.

Even Carl Sagan and Steven Hawking were stumped until they saw MSEP. I couldn't agree with you more! I watched it three times on my visit last week, and I NEVER watch any of the parades more than once. That's how amazing it is :)

I like Spectro more than MSEP. It was nice to see MSEP again but I really love the music to Spectro. I would be disappointed to see Spectro's return delayed. Don't get me me wrong, I enjoyed seeing and listening to MSEP and it is an excellent parade, I just like Spectro more.

I really used to like MSEP more then Spectro, but now that the music has been changed I'm changing my mind. Without the special brand of music that IS the MSEP, it's lost a lot of luster to me.

I am so hoping that your words will ring true in December. I have seen Spectro...on my honeymoon...it was a wonderful memory...have a perfect pic of Cinderella waving right at us. BUT...I am sooo excited if MSEP would still be there in Nov/Dec. Loved the parade as a child, have the music as a ringtone, my DD4 loves the music and loved watching the recent video of it. It would be just one memory in the making to see it once again this time with her...probably one of those that will bring tears to my eyes. It is a true classic.

Quick question...which nights would it be showing? The same nights that Spectro is saying for showing? Have everything booked as far as dining reservations for the week and only have the florida resident weekday passes so wouldn't be able to see it on the weekend. Will change my evening schedule to see it, that's for sure.

The following is from the Feb. 23 Al Lutz column on www.miceage.com.

It was from a series of discussions springing from that decree from John Lasseter that the plan to mothball the Electrical Parade until after the World of Color crowds die down and the Buena Vista Street construction is finished in 2012 recently came about. The newly lengthened DCA parade route in 2012 will require some modifications to not only the existing floats themselves, but possibly to the dance routines and staffing of any current parade.

So earlier this winter the WDW executives in Orlando made a pitch to borrow the Electrical Parade for a bargain price during that period and use it to try and duplicate the success Disneyland had last summer with the Nightastic! promotion. The Anaheim executives are insisting that Orlando only gets the parade for just under two years, and the current agreement has the parade being shipped back to Disneyland just after Easter vacation of 2012.

Apparently Walt Disney World is rather infamous amongst Anaheim Cast Members for not maintaining their attractions, equipment and facilities to Disneyland standards, and the Anaheim entertainment team is rather nervous about sending their newly refurbished floats out to Florida. But at least the plan frees up some storage space for them as the DCA float warehouse get reworked during the Cars Land construction.

A bientot.

Weighing on on the matter:

I just got back from the World on Thursday night and had the pleasure of seeing the MSEP for the first time since 1987. I'd be lying if I didn't say that hearing the familiar strains fill Main Street and seeing Casey Jr. make his first appearance in YEARS didn't cause me to cry...a lot.

The prospect of MSEP staying for at least another year, when I have a trip booked for Nov. '10 and possibly Oct '11 makes me more than happy.

You know what: Color me THRILLED. For us die-hard fans, this is a dream come true.

Is it true?

Not always, but Disneyland does get better entertainment more often than we do. They still have the Diamond Horseshoe, plus better concerts and holiday decorations. Their Christmas festivities and parade are included in regular park hours, unlike the hard-ticket events at the MK.

Ironically, WDW got the better Move It/Shake It/Celebrate It parade, and DL's is terrible.

In my experience, DL's attractions have just as many issues as Florida's. Only Tokyo's rides always work the right way.

Awesome news! We were there for the "official" MSEP opening on June 6th (not the 5th sadly for the preview lol...wife couldnt get the night off heh)... posted two video torrents to mousebits . com if anyone cares to see the parade in HD.

I am happy that the MSEP is going to stick around...of course so many of us sorta figured that a good while back thanks to the many of you on here who leaked that info a while back... glad to see that it is inching closer to reality!

Spectro will be back... maybe not for ashort while...maybe (who knows?) not even for a few years if they are silently Imagineering a new parade.... but in the end someday it will return to visit the streets of the MK again!

How do you view those? I created an account there but it prompted me to save or find a program to open it and then said Windows did not recognize the program.

You need to use a Torrent downloading program, like utorrent or bittorrent. That opens the .torrent file and downloads what you're looking for. There's a whole help board on Mousebits that will guide you through the process

That is certainly interesting. I guess I may have the chance to see the parade after all.

And it seems like the fire on the storage just confirms DLs fears.

Only Tokyo's rides always work the right way.

That's not true. I was evac'ed off of Journey To The Center Of The Earth a few years ago. And on my last visit to Tokyo, Splash Mountain was closed for the first few hours of the day (with an army of CM's apologizing out front) and I kept hitting the Fantasyland dark rides (including Pooh) when they were broken temporarily.

In short, it happens. Everywhere.

Tokyo does maintain their attractions beautifully, in advance of the routine breakdowns all attractions have. The Tokyo animatronics are very fluid and the effects are very consistent.

Disneyland does an okay job on animatronics, not quite as good as Tokyo. But then you go to the WDW versions of the animatronic rides and the animatronics are doing the Herky-Jerky or barely moving and it's quite noticeable.

Yeah, that's what I really meant. Obviously, any attraction can break down.

According to Al Lutz new article today 7/6, MSEP is slated to be shipped back to California by Christmas, so if correct make your trip to see it here before fall is over.
