MSEP will stay past Nightastic

Actually there aren't any crowd control problems at DCA -- the setup they have for WoC crowds has been running smoothly so far. Also, the construction walls that are up right now don't affect the parade route (Pixar Play Parade is still able to perform daily).

The only issue that could prevent the MSEP from returning is the location of the queue for the WoC Fastpass (blue section) - it runs along the parade route near the Pacific Wharf. Although I guess if they wanted to they could easily relocate the queue farther back to let the parade run through.

Alrighty, I'm wrong. :ROFLOL:

I'm quite sad. I can't imagine a more boring parade than MSEP. I get the concept, but the music is...well...not music and it's just sort of blah. Obviously this is just my opinion, but I love Spectro - I like tradition, and I like the characters and the music - this bums me out.

Technically MSEP is more "tradition" than Spectro.

just saying.

I love this news. I love the original MSEP soundtrack better, but I still love the parade. Good to hear. Will be a nice combination of MSEP and Wishes playing together.

You love tradition? LOL the MSEP was a tradition for quite a lot of us long before Spectro was even ON the drawing boards.

Music boring? 100% disagree...

Music is great with MSEP

MSEP is the classic parade that gave the concept to the creation of the Spectro parade?

I love Spectro dont misunderstand me...but MSEP has always been my favorite Disney light parade....all the way back to the 70s when I first saw it...

TDO has my vote: MSEP would be welcome to stay far beyond the end of summer

I suppose there may be those die hard Spectro fans at WDW and MSEP fans at DL that would have a huge issue with Spectro going to DCA. I still say it would be a nice fit with the DCA expansion.

even if Spectro were to visit the West coast it isn't feasible at the moment (i've heard from a few parade CM's i've chatted w/ over the years that the "Spectro" floats arn't structurally safe to do any traveling to the other resorts

I was thinking that you must be under 30 in order to for this statement to ring true for you. After looking at your profile, I find this to be a correct assumption.

Spectro ran from 1991 to present with the exception of two returns by MSEP in 2000 and now. For many of us over 30, MSEP is the tradition as it ran during our Childhood Visits.

I find your comments interesting because it exemplifies one of the bigger challenges that Disney faces when it decides to change entertainment and attraction offerings which is how to balance heritage and tradition with the need for updated and relevant entertainment. Its no easy task I am sure because just as you stated your tradition is Spectro but mine is MSEP.

However, Walt was very interested in the future and changing things up as it made sense to do so. Therefore, I am ready for a new parade utilizing all of the currently available technology to really provide a new "wow" factor and raise the bar.

I am so glad that MSEP is back for the summer, and if longer I wont be dissapointed. For someone who grew up listening to that soundtrack everyweekend, it will be a trip back in time that is long overdue and well deserved.

I absolutely love SpectroMagic, but I visit WDW frequently and have wanted to see MSEP for a very long time. I will miss Spectro, but I am super excited to see The Main Street Electrical Parade that I grew up with. I think that there is a lot of things that should never change, but when they bring things back from the past I think its great. Bringing back the MSEP for special occasions is a great idea IMO and hopefully thats what they will do, because I love both SM and MSEP. MSEP just has that sentimental magic.

That being said, I dont usually stay on property when visiting because its so expensive for someone who visits 2 to 3 times a month. However this trip we are staying on property and making a special trip to see Captain EO, and of course MSEP. Super Duper excited! :sohappy:

Could not have said it better myself! Completely agree, I just like to see things from the past come back to life and praise Disney for having what it takes to bring the "Old School" nostalgia back. :sohappy:

The Main Street Electrical Parade IS the traditional Disney Parade. :hammer:

Is there really a big difference? Regardless of what they call it, isn't it safe to say that the Magic Kingdom will [almost] always have some sort of lit-up nighttime parade that goes down Main Street?

There is a large difference, however to answer your question im sure that there will always be a parade at MK.

The main difference is that MSEP is a 2-Step set it an upbeat cut-time signature that is easy to clap and move around to and Spectro is a slower, more grandiose Waltz that while definitely elegant, it's rather impossible to tap your foot to.

w00t!

this makes me really, really happy.

i was fully intending to go down to orlando for the now-postponed space shuttle launch of endeavour in july, and the thought of missing the parade i grew up with (when the shuttle launch was rescheduled to the fall) was ... daunting.

getting to see both MSEP and Eo again, alongside MNNSHP, sounds just awesome.

I would say the most salient difference is SpectroMagic has been shown to cure insomnia, a medical claim MSEP is unable to make. :lookaroun

Seriously, though, I don't think they're very similar. They're both light-centered parades, yes, just like Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain are both roller-coaster style rides with the word "mountain" in their names. I think the style of music and the way they use colors and lighting make the shows very distinct.

Best response I've read today :sohappy:

I prefer the music of Spectro, especially the last few floats as they change from color to white lights. That sight/sound is pure magic for me.
