MSEP will stay past Nightastic

seventeen days and counting

this is the third week in a row i've opened up reservation and rumor web sites, contemplating making a run down to see nightastic before it ends.

i can't believe i'm thinking about spending hundreds of dollars on airfare and hotel *to see a parade*, but... it's THAT parade. the one i grew up with. the one i haven't seen since i was a teenager.

i'm going to be there in november. if the MSEP is going to still be in orlando in november, that's... a lot better for me. the fireworks sound (and the youtube clips look) unbelievably awesome, but they may very well bring that show around again next summer. they've de-mothballed it once; they can do it again.

it's not that i don't trust the sources mentioned here already, but i'm starting to see "i heard from a cast member that it's NOT being extended" reports elsewhere online. is there a threshold -- before the evening of august 15th -- that we can expect to be the make-or-break point for an official word, past which we can say it probably isn't happening after all? a press release during a particular news cycle, like the first tuesday in august or something?

I hope Disney clears this up soon and makes a official announcement. If MSEP is staying, I hope, though very very doubtful, that they provide info on what will happen to Spectro and if the parade will receive any changes or upgrades during all its downtime.

They don't need to make an official announcement about anything--the only official announcement they have ever put out has stated that MSEP will end August 14th, so if that is still the plan (as everything from Disney suggests), they don't need to announce anything.

Well obviously if MSEP is leaving then they do not have to announce anything, however, if the plans have changed and MSEP will be staying I would think they would have to announce this.... Mainly for all those fans at DCA who are so eager to have their precious parade back

That is just odd. This wasn't happening last summer when the parade ran at California Adventure, or even as recent as this past Spring Break when the parade ran nightly at DCA. That's the type of thing where Disneyland message boards would spring to life if there was a report of missing floats and inoperative lights, but we never heard or saw anything of the sort at DCA in recent years.

Maybe the California floats don't do well in the Florida humidity? Seriously. Perhaps these repeated failures in a parade that was just tuned up in California last year and had a flawless run for months has something to do with the humidity or climate of a Florida summer?

That's the only thing I could think of that would cause sudden and repeated problems like that.

MSEP was hit by a downpour around the July 4 weekend, which seemed to have been the start of the problems. There have been quite a few maintenance issues with light and audio since then.

Well, at least you guys know that my source was correct. It's just before the end of Nightastic and MSEP was announced to be staying due to "popular demand". :)
