MSEP to stay at WDW for 2 years?

Why are they bringing this back anyways? Its old and dated! Disney should move forward not back, even if it is replacing a parade thats been there for years. And even if it might bring in some people, they should NOT be bringing back an old dated parade.

^ It's not dated, they have updated it. Go watch it online, it looks great.

I'm all for discussion. I'm also excited to see MSEP here at WDW cause it's like a piece of California followed me home after I moved back to florida. I just fail to see how CDCT isn't new when compared to the "new" MSEP?

I'm sorry but not every aspect has changed about MSEP. Yes they added LEDs but only to select elements (such as the pixie dust trails) and other additions (such as the Cheshire cat and to the costumes.) Not every float received "refreshed" LEDs. The Pinnoc float certainly didn't get any new lighting upgrades. Music isn't new either. It's the same music just re recorded and most of the enhancements come from Dreamlights.

DDCT parade however has had a major make over to CDCT when compared to MSEP. A new look for the lead float. All new costumes. All new music. All new choreography and an all new show stop. That to me adds up to more new than any of the changes to MSEP.

MSEP like you said, same name, same parade. CDCT however is new name, new feel/look and is a new parade just with old floats.

I'm sorry that you feel that I am not up for discussion but I thought a part of discussion was going back and forth stating our point of view. But as you said: Respectfully agree to disagree....
You come off a little strong, sorry.

With CDCT, it seems like a quick fix. New music, that's it. With MSEP, I feel that they are taking the parade apart, adding things, plussing things, and making a old experience into a new one because they are doing more to it.

That's all really, but I just don't see why we have to bash a perfectly good management decision and a perfectly good parade just because it's based off a old one.

That should do it for me tonight...

And it's the second old attraction they are bringing back (the other is Captain EO at Disneyland.) Not a good trend unless they actually start bringing worthwhile stuff back that should have never left *whistles in the direction of a certain island*:lookaroun

As do you at times.

But its not just new music. :brick:

Also, I'm not bashing a good management decision. I have stated plenty of times that I'm excited to see MSEP. So yes it is a good decision but an even better decision would have been giving spectromagic its own make over or even better yet, an all new parade. All we are getting is Disneylands left overs, yet again.

Both MSEP and CDCT are old. Yup, they've changed them over the years, but only because MSEP was so old that the technology looked far too outdated compared to other attractions and CDCT was changed because basically leaving a daytime parade running for 10 years is ridiculous and SOME effort had to be made to change it enough to allow it to qualify as being a "new parade" (which it clearly isn't).

Both parades need to be replaced really. I doubt dreamlights will come to WDW as the floats are probably too big and are more on the scale of the larger floats used in Paris, making Paris the more likely transfer.

I'm SURE that WDW must have a new daytime parade planned for the 40th, they can't leave the "dreams come true" parade running any longer with or without a makeover.

Maybe for the 40th they will keep with the trend of bringing back old attractions and parades and bring back the 25th Anniversary Parade so we can "Remember the Magic" all over again. :hammer:

My apologies, I mean no disrespect. I hope you do not, as well.

Spectro is being made over. I consider new lights, music, and the whole rigamarole to be new. Wanna call it quits?

No disrespect at all.

I meant if Spectro was being redone for Nighttastic. I can't wait to see what they do to it though. I just hope the opening unit doesn't change to much.

And sure. Why not quite while where ahead

Having the MSEP return to WDW was my #2 dream...

Having the Tropical Serenade return in the form of the DL's Enchanted Tiki Room is still my #1 dream... who knows! Maybe someday....

One float is new! The music is from tokyo and the rest of the parade is the same. This is not new. This is as new as CDCT. And resposes like this are why the MK parade has only had cosmetic changes for years
WDW has never had Pleasure Island the Diamond Miine or Tinkerbell so it will actually be 4 new units added that WDW has never had. and not all the music is from Tokyo, the Ciinderella,Pleasure Island & Finale units all have music unique to the U.S. version

While Lutz can be a great source of information I just can't stand the way he reports his take on WDW. Al should really check his notes before taking a dig at WDW. Last time I checked, Disneyland wasn't all that great at maintaining their parades. When DHS received BPB they had to refurbish a lot of the elements on the floats cause DCA just didn't take care of them. In fact, the Monsters float was know as Titanic cause it listed to one side when they first got it. That float had to be rebuilt and repaired so many times cause DCA just didn't take care of it. :fork:

I agree with you about the Block Party floats, but let's not act like WDW mngt gives their best to keep certain parade floats in good shape. For example-Spectro and termites eating the floats.

Too bad MSEP is missing King Leonidas Calliope, it would be nice if that makes a surprise reintroduction at MK.

To all those questioning and criticizing MK's parades and especially to those "DL is always better than MK" posters I have two words for you... "Light Magic". Things are not always better on the other side.

The exception that proves the rule.

Thank GOD TDA didn't throw that on us... and thank GOD TDO didn't offer to catch it....

What a horrible parade.

Anywho, is this 2 years really true? Will this really be the park's 40th parade? X (

The parade wasn't that bad, unless you want to believe all the negative hype around it. The only reason people didn't accept it was because it replaced DL's beloved parade - people were mostly bitter about the change.. negative word-of-mouth spread like wildfire and killed the parade.

Had nice effects, detailed floats.. I think the soundtrack was fun. Overall it wasn't as bad as most people make it out to be

Wow! Congrats to you for bringing up that 1997 turkey.

For those wondering at home... Light Magic was a "Streetacular" at Disneyland that debuted in May, 1997. It replaced the Electrical Parade and it was widely panned as a crowd control nightmare and artistically questionable replacement for the beloved MSEP. It ended at the end of the summer in 1997, and it never returned. There's a surprising amount of profesional and amateur footage available on YouTube.

But, Light Magic left Disneyland with some really nifty parade route technology, some of which is still in use today to great effect with more traditional parades.

Any one under the mistaken belief that Al Lutz does nothing but praise DL should find some of the stuff he was writing when Paul Pressler and Cynthia Harris were running it.

A bientot.
