MSEP Returns

An updated Spectromagic would be glorious for WDW. The music, length, and themes were perfect for the grandeur of the MK. It’s the only night parade I felt compelled to stop and watch every single time. It was also the last gasp of a Walt Disney Company that still included elements of obscure classics alongside new movies. For example, the singing harp from “Mickey and the Beanstalk” was on the same float as Roger Rabbit, who was later replaced by the Genie. Ah, I miss that parade.
I also stumbled upon this video of the parade from 1991 soon after it's premiere.

I liked Spectromagic. It had a nice symphonic soundtrack. Disney parade music is usually pretty cheesy.

You know, like Paint the Night.

"It's the Paint the Night Paraaaaaaaade!!"

*Electronic pop music begins*

PTN is perfect for people who think today’s Disney Channel makes high quality entertainment.

If that offends anyone, I’m sorry. We just have to agree to disagree. :D

I’m generally willing to discuss opinions, but what the heck?! Dreamlights is fantastic, although I agree it’s a bit long because the Japanese culture tends to have a longer attention span (I dare you to watch any Ghibli movie without checking the time).

:D

I hate PTN in Disneyland. I usually call it the SOW parade (screens on wheels), and it fits into DCA better than the classic magic of DL. But the MSEP is old and rickety, and missing almost half its original units. That sucker needs to be replaced.

Not saying PTN is the top for night parades either, but isn’t it only one or two floats that use screens? It could use a couple note floats and some tweener floats as well, but it hits the right notes. It also was had incredibly high guest satisfaction scores.

Dreamlights is just drawn out and the music is exhausting. I’m especially disappointed with the newer floats that aren’t special and none of the characters even have special costumes that feature lights anymore. That’s one thing Spectro did well, at least from the videos I’ve seen.

For its time, the Spectro costumes were amazing, especially if you overlooked the battery packs and creepy SpectroMen masks. ;)

TDL should update Casey Jr. I think that’s the only float left that hasn’t been updated since Dreamlights debuted.

Any idea or word yet if the dates are getting extended? We'll be there the first week in October and hoping to get a chance to see it again.
