Move It! Shake It! to Run at Night

Move It is a tacky parade. The music is grating. To me, it is ugly. Festival of Fantasy is beautiful, as a comparison. Just my opinion

If people enjoy it, great! They have plenty of opportunity to do so

Running it at night will not add to the atmosphere
I would rather walk around Main Street in peace than see that coming down the street again

Why would people wait for a parade that isn't anywhere on the times guides or website ?
Perhaps their friends or family experienced it and told them how wonderful it was on their trip last year or in the past. or maybe they watched a youtube video when planning their trip and were hoping to see a real parade after witnessing the dumpster fire that is known as Move It Shake It.

It is proof that not everybody (probly most) cares to plan every minute of their trip on MDE at 6 months out. Imagine a parent planning their trip and wants to get the kids excited and involved. What would be better (for the child), reviewing the times guide, clicking on FP+ options and making ADR's at midnight? Or pulling up Youtube videos of rides and parades so they can see them and get excited? Disney wants first time visitors. First time visitors dont understand every aspect of how the parks operate. They get on youtube and watch videos, not MDE and read every disclaimer and operational schedule.

I would pose that it's highly unlikely that parents are out there with their kids on their laps at midnight scheduling FP+. It's perfectly reasonable to assume parents will look at parade times and *then* pull up YouTube videos to get their kids excited. I'm a planner personality, so I totally get that it's not the "norm" to plan your vacation in detail 10 months out, but looking at the times guide a week (or even a day or two) before your trip is easy and convenient.

The old 'ignorant first time traveler' reason? People who went on the website to buy tickets, maybe purchase hotel rooms..but never thought to click on the huge picture of what's going on in the park? Didn't take a times guide or map when handed to them., Or look at times of opening/closing/parades/shows...? But somehow they made it to MK...?

Doubtful..but there's always the possibility..

Yes, we should tell our children "Don't enjoy this parade! Boycott Disney by wrecking your own time in MK! That'll show them!"

Ps. I never saw anyone lining up for a phantom MSEP.
Here's proof that this is a thing after I found these images from an article from touringplans.com

Perhaps they booked a Disney trip after seeing commercials and online videos of attractions like 7DMT, Splash Mountain, Frozen Ever After and parades like MSEP. So then they do click on the big picture of whats going in the park and with the staggering amount of info and planning needed, they felt overwhelmed.

So when trying to plan their FP+ they wondered why the site/MDE app kept giving them selections with People Mover and Carousel of Progress as 2 of their 3 selections for FP+. In an effort to understand, they call a friend or family member who has visited to get advice. The friend/family member helps out and also tells them about seeing MSEP at the end of the night and how great it was. They tell them to get there early to get a good spot. If that fried/family member is not a Disney aficionado (which most arent) they wont realize that the parade is no longer there after their visit last year or 2 years ago or 5 years ago. So the person planning doesnt think much of it when they dont see it on the times guide (if they even use it). Shame on them though. What a moron for not wanting to create spreadsheets and uber plan every minute of their trip and simply trusting their friends advice.

I think the issue most people have is that they know the company can do better. I think it is great that you enjoy it with your child. Your making lemonade out of lemons, and that is awesome. I dont roll me eyes when I see "Move It Shake It", I sing along with the few parts I know. But when I stop to take a look at it, it just feels underwhelming.

Disney was smart to make a parade that gets the crowd involved because it saves them money on floats and extra CM's and Im fine with that. I enjoyed it the first few years it ran, but it has ran it course. Parades like MSEP and Spectro never get old because there is so much more to them compared to Move It Shake It. (*Judy Dench voice) ===> MSEP and Spectro were grand and miraculous. You could watch them 50 times and still find something new each time. Move It Shake It is clear case of "know when to hold em, know when to fold em".
Especially Spectro with the amount of detail put into the floats. Especially the finale and the beginning.

c Can't that be done anywhere? I see parents dancing and laughing with their children in public parks too.
The nighttime parade is a big loss.
I remember when WDW used to have an electrical parade it would be one of the main reasons why to stay at MK much longer at night compared to the day.

My wife is extremely reserved and not the type to dance in the streets of Disney. But the first time she saw Spectro, she couldnt help herself and she was twirling around with her arms in the air and the biggest smile on her face. I was lucky to have my camera filming the parade and I panned over to catch a few seconds of her completely engulfed in the magic. To see her so out of her shell and just enjoying the moment is truly one of my most cherished memories of our trips. I can hardly watch it without getting a little misty eyed.

The decision to cancel MSEP was disappointing. I don't see why adding a Move It... show compounds the problem. It certainly doesn't help much, but isn't it better than nothing (assuming it's temporary and that there will be a proper nighttime parade some time in the future)?
