Most incredible thing you've heard when dealing with a Disney newbee.

The most common thing I hear is people confusing Disneyland and disneyworld. Then they'll get upset with you when you correct them. I've heard typical things like "space mountain has loops!" and "pirates of the Caribbean isn't around anymore" just dumb little ideas that people have gotten that aren't based on any truth. Don't try and argue with these people.
My family and friends laugh at me because I get very upset when people mix the 2 up. Walt Disney World is not the same as Disneyland. I always say. They are on opposite sides of the country and are very different parks.

I guess you have to explain every little thing to newbies lol.
"It's only for kids"- is one I hear all the time and I am like NO IT"S NOT!
90% of people I know don't know about Disney, like the difference between DL and WDW, and how there are more than one park and many resorts at WDW and they just don't know! Even my old band director who goes each year with the band to WDW doesn't know much which is ridiculous. Calls MK Disney and everything else by the park names lol.
These has been interesting to read and so funny because it's crazy

A personal favorite was trying to help a family member plan their very first visit during Christmas week. After sending them a 3 page e-mail, the response I received: "Thanks, but I think we'll just take it as it comes, we don't need to plan it out like that."
haha wow! You NEED to plan! Especially going at the busiest time of the year!!

I love this thread... I have an aunt who has never been to WDW (or Disneyland). However, her daughter and son-in-law have and they love it (even though they don't know much about it - they spend more time at Uni). Whenever we get together we normally get on the topic of Disney and it actually makes my aunt REALLY mad! "I can't understand why you love it so much! I'm saving up to go to The Holy Land Experience! I don't care about Disney!"

The one I've gotten several times is:

Newbie: We're going/went to Disney.
Me: awesome! Which park(s) did you go to?
Newbie: We went to Disney. (in a duh aren't you listening tone)
Me: yes, but which park? Magic Kingdom? Epcot?....
Newbie: We went to Disney! (now looking at me like I have 2 heads and am apparently deaf)

...this could go on a little while longer from them not understanding that either 1) there's more than one park or 2) that what they are referring to as "Disney" is actually called Magic Kingdom, at which point I give up and just ask them how they liked it and then change the subject.

That's the most common thing I get. They think there is only 1 park - Magic Kingdom that they call DisneyWorld. One woman was complaining about not seeing where Fantasmic was. I was telling her about where it was. She asked was that near the castle? I said no, that's MK. Fantasmic is at DHS. What's that? I explain. Or another woman asking me why we go for a full week, when they did it in 1 day. I said there is no way to do everything in one day. She said there's only 1 park. How can you not do everything in 1 day? I said there are 4 parks, plus DTD, plus 2 water parks. She said, "Since when?" Are you kidding me? Then I finally get out of her that the last time she went there WAS only 1 park!!! And she still acts like she knows all about DisneyWorld!

legit one time at check in a lady was nervous as to why they did not have her reservation. turns out her travel agent booked disneyland everything, except a flight to orlando..... long story short they had everything converted and the lady had a disney world vacation.

OMG!! I would be so furious with my travel agent!! I had heard of a problem a co-worker had with their agent, so that's why I book everything myself! I am too paranoid to depend on others when this much money is involved!

HAHA. After our latest trip, we were telling some friends at church about our WDW trip, and a lady overheard us and asked, "How was the Holy Land Experience?" We told her we didn't make it to see that *this time* (read never going) and she was astounded that we would go all the way to Orlando and choose WDW over The Holy Land Experience.

I have lots of em...
1. Can you walk from one park to another?
2. Isn't WDW the same as Disneyland?
3. Is WDW bigger than Kings Island? (we are Ohioans)
4. Do they close the rides when it rains?

My favorite however, was actually ME when I was 9 years old. My Father lived in Orlando so I was visiting him for the summer, and he was taking me on my first trip to WDW. At that time Magic Kingdom was the only park. The day before I was very excited and asked "Can we go tonite and just DRIVE BY and look at it"?

Just today I learned that a new hire in my office is going to WDW next week. I said "Have a Dole Whip for me!", and she had no idea what I was talking about. i figured she must be a newbie, but then I found out she'd been there 7 times previously! I told her not to miss it on this trip :)

I kid you not.."We didn't stay long at Epcot because there were no rides." This was 3 years ago, with the parents bringing a 12 year old and a 9 year old. We of course only heard about this after they got back.

I've read a story before where a couple were in DTD and thought DTD WAS WDW. They were disappointed because there we no rides and just loads of shops.
Oh and they thought their Disney Park Passes were just for Disney Quest. Woops.

It gets miserable after a couple days because the only to eat are hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken nuggets.
Um... No
Well then it's changed recently!
Again... No

I get two... We are going to Disneyland, Epcot, MGM and Animal Kingdom... Uh don't you mean, Magic Kingdom, not Disneyland... and Hollywood studios.. not MGM...
I have to admit, I'm guilty of still calling DHS MGM! I can't help it! It's what I was raised knowing it as MGM. I'm working on it though...

This is what I truly do not understand. Okay, someone who may be sheltered and never been to Disney, Fine. I wont judge if you think MK is the only part of WDW. But what I truly do not understand is a) how can you book a trip there and not notice all of the little clues about the other parks? Wouldn't these people be like park hopper? More parks?!!? Or even see the ads and pictures of the parks and attractions on the websites and what not. But B) MOST IMPORTANTLY how do you GO THERE and not notice this stuff? These people aren't like oh wait, that bus has a sign for animal kingdom, what is that? Or when you are actually in MK how do you not notice oh that sign says POTC, let's check it out! This is a topic that almost makes me mad how stupid people can be! Open your eyeballs people!
