Most Disappointing Meal in WDW?

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall -Epcot

Although it was not the "worst" I have ever eaten at it was a little disappointing. The food has strayed alot from traditional and was crazy expensive! For just my husband and I we paid with tip $100. My main course (it is a three course buffet) was stuffed mushroom pasta to give you an idea. If you want to read abou the whole experience I have it up at my blog Amanda's Weekly Zen

Have a happy day!

another vote for Tony's here. Had a generally bad meal there in 2005 and have never been back since. Mama Melroses comes a close 2nd as everything tastes of smoke due to the wood ovens.

I'm usually so starved by the time I get to a TS meal, that I wouldn't care if they served Spam L'Orange, I'd still inhale it like a starved coyote.

That being said, San Angel is the least enjoyable of the places I've eaten.

Also, I'm sticking up for Marrakesh. That's one of the best meals I've had on property. Although I could have been unduly influenced by the entertainment. :lookaroun

San Angel Inn
Boma
Trails End

In that order. Not worth a cent paid for at any of those places. But that is the opinion of ALL 5 of us in our family. The table next to us from texas as well had 9 people who all left their food as well at San Angel Inn. Jut nasty hungry or not

Even if Max Klinger made it for you after whats-his-name left to go cook for his old unit ?

You eat with your eyes first (and in Marrakesh, second, and third, and fourth, and fifth, and ......)

Ok now I am worried. We have adr's for san angel for lunch. We thought we'd give it a try. I am wondering now if the girls will find anything to eat. So far we have Chef Mickeys, Luau at Poly, Biergarten, Tony's, Ohana's, Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare, Le Cellier, Sci-Fi, Garden Grill, Whispering Canyon and San Angel. Our girls are 8 & 12. Should we keep S.A. or try for something different?

does Planet Hollywood count?

I don't know if this counts but I thought Planet Hollywood was, well, disgusting. Not only was the food flawed, but the ambience was really loud and obnoxious. They actually had someone video-taping customers eating and were projecting this LIVE onto giant screens throughout the "restaurant".

It's like, are you kidding?

Im gonna have to go with 50's Prime Time.. The food was cold and looked like it had been sitting around for 2 days in the fridge... Also wasnt too impressed with The Plaza... sandwiches for that price... and we dined with an army of ants... The manager tried to brush them off when I pointed them out to her... Thanks brush them from the window sill to the floor... so they are on my feet... at least I could keep an eye on them on the sill... haha

thats crazy... we actually had great service when we went there and the food was really good... bummer you had a bad experience... and our server was really good... She came over with drinks all the time for us... I hate it when you have finished your drink before your meal comes and the server asks you... would you like another coke? um hello... its 95 degrees out and I dont have my meal yet... I'm gonna have to go with a yes on that... lol :ROFLOL:

I would have to say the Brown Derby.. My hubby and I had the same meal and both of us got ill afterwards.. While we were eating we were discussing how we didn't feel that the meal was worth the 2 TS credits we had to use for the meal..

Just thought of it..forgot to mention in previous post..

..the evening we ate dinner at the House of Blues at DTD was pretty horrible. The service was good but food was terrible. It was very pricey, too. We've eaten HoB in New Orleans numerous times and found the DTD location's food to be an absolute joke in comparison.

Well it looks like that at one time or another everyone has had a bad experience at a Disney restaurant. Hubby and I love San Angel and have never had a bad meal there. I will tell you that they do not have tacos. A lady and her 2 very unruly children were sitting close to us last year and she went on for about 20 minutes about them not having tacos on the kids menu. The waiter had to tell her numerous times to please keep her kids off the fence. It did no good. Of course she was either on the phone or texting someone the entire time too. IMO everywhere you go you run the risk of having a bad meal. Even outside WDW that can happen. I personally can't think of a "bad" meal inside the world. Some have been better than others but none bad that I won't go back.

Basically, it is a matter of taste. First and foremost, if you are big-time into tex-mex, don't go to the San Angel Inn expecting that kind of food. Even if you have had real mexican food (not tex-mex - which I'm not knocking - I love tex-mex), don't expect it to be as heavily flavorful, and certainly not as spicy.

We love the San Angel Inn, and go every trip. The atmosphere is wonderful, and we've always had excellent service. I love the feeling of eating outside, but being in an air-conditioned room. It is not a fast-food restaurant, however, so expect to dine at a leisurely pace.

The food is somewhat toned-down compared to what you might expect get in the San Angel section of Mexico City, for example, and by comparison to tex-mex, it is extremely mild. However, if you savor it slowly, and really focus, you will find a pleasant complexity of subtle flavor. I found the general quality of the ingredients used surpasses that of your average tex-mex restaurant.

As I said, it is an entirely different style of food altogether from tex-mex, and probably fairly different from any US "Mexican" restaurant chain food.

It's definately not one of your "chain" mexican restaurants. Hubby and love the Ceviche and the Chicken dish without the "hint of chocolate". Sorry that I can't think of the name. Also the Mexican Plato is really good. I have tried the flan and the White Chocolate Bread Pudding for dessert and all I can say is "yummy"...... oh...... I can't wait to get there.

Thanks then. We have one local mom and pop Mexican restaurant that is quite good. Not your typical Tex-Mex or American Mexican Chain restaurant. I think we will keep what we have and give it a try.

Just another 2 cents worth from me... It is nothing like Taco Bell which is good compared to San Angel Inn. If you have ever eaten at a Chilis and gotten fajitas, nothing like that as well. It does not have a mexican flare or taste to it. They serve some sort of steak on most plates and if you know steak, this is not a steak. It mooshes in your mouth, no need to chew. But I see where you are from Illinois and maybe your mexican food is different there. But if you have been to Texas New Mexico or even Oklahoma it is nothing like those foods. Just another thought for you to decide. The only thing good there was the nachos (APP) and the bowl of Cheese Pablano soup. It was really good other than that we all left our plates of food, even the beans. We left and went to MK to eat another meal.
