More park hour cuts

No, pal, I am quite right about them being open less now ... do I have to go and pull an operating schedule from say August of 1977 that shows the MK was open 9-1 every day except the last two days when it was 9-7? Do I have to pull an EPCOT schedule from the summer of 1988 that shows the ENTIRE park open from 8-midnight over the summer? What about a DAK schedule from 1998 that shows 7-8 operating hours daily?

I don't state things as facts unless they are in fact so ...

?

Um.... yes... you do need to pull schedules from the late 1970's and early 1980's, scan them, and post them. No photoshopping allowed.

I don't know about the others, but I can personally verify that AK was open 7 am to 8 pm when it opened. I don't necessarily think those hours were justified, but that was in fact the case. Then I remember it moving to 7 am to 7 pm...then 8 am to 7 pm. By the next time I visited, it was down to the current 9-5.

United Airlines about a month ago, recinded their second bag fee of $50. Does that count?

So it's free now?

No. What you likely mean is they are only charging $25 (or whatever the original fee was).

When the airlines go back to NOT charging for your first two bags, then you can talk to me about it. ... We both know that ain't happening even if oil drops to $25 a barrel.

I don't think so.

I have neither the time nor the desire to prove facts to you (or anyone else).

If you have a specific question regarding hours ... like wanting to know what they were in May of 1985 or July of 1990, for example ... ask and if I have access to the schedules, I'll provide the answers.

But if you don't want to take me at my word on them, feel free to contact Dave Smith at the Disney Archives (it might help if you're a younger guy!) and ask him to check the records. They'll bare out the accuracy of what I am telling you.:hammer::hammer::hammer:

Disney overestimated the park's popularity at opening and that's why it was open 13 hrs daily. ... It did change over time. But 9-5 is an awfully short operating day.

FWIW, if you think DAK was open too long, DCA opened with 8-midnight hours nightly IN FEBRUARY ... and they ran them most of the spring of 2001 despite the fact NO ONE was at the park (I was and can tell you it was amazing to see a fully staffed park that might have had 2,000 people in it at 6 p.m. knowing it was staying open another SIX HOURS!)

Wow...that's a bit arrogant!

Lets see here...you come on here, stating all sorts of opinions as fact. When you are questioned as to where these "facts" come from, you make fun of the questioner, and then say you have the proof. When someone wants to see the proof, you then say you don't have time to get it, and basically they can find it themselves - if they don't believe you, it's up to them to prove you wrong.

I wish I had a B. S. flag smiley...I'm going to go ahead and raise that flag anyway.

As we say in my line of work...put up or shut up.

I raised my BS flag a long time ago.

Want to see it again?

I think this sums up the posting history pretty well.

He is right though. He has no reason to prove anything to us.

In the exact same vein, we have no reason to believe him without proof. The proof that has been asked for does not seem unreasonable.

That's part of my charm. Hope it doesn't make you feel insecure. Confidence does that to many people.

Let's see this ... I come here and state both facts and educated opinions. When it comes to Disney park hours I have schedules that date back to 1972 right on up to this year. So when I say the MK was open from 9-1 daily in August of 1977, that is FACT. You can choose to not believe it, but all that does is make you ignorant. I have no agenda to come to a fanboy site and lie about theme park hours (maybe there are no-lifers here who would do that, but I'm not one of them).

And sorry, but because I am not a no-lifer and have a real job and real responsibilities, I don't have time to screw around and try and scan operating schedules into some form that I can attach here (I am also not technologically savvy ... being an old guy who lived through those 1 a.m. MK closings and all) ... so, no, I won't do that and find the request over the top. I don't lie here. Period.

If you want to believe that Disney hours weren't dramatically longer in the 70s, 80s and into the 90s then you're choosing to be ignorant. But hey there are people who believe the moon landing was a hoax, Saddam had WMDs and Oswald didn't kill JFK. Believe whatever you want, it won't make you right.

I wish I had a B. S. flag smiley...I'm going to go ahead and raise that flag anyway.

And in my line we say ... well, I can't say that, but I can say Have a Magical Day!

When does anyone posting here have "facts" to back up their information? It is a discussion site, folks, seriously!! We all learn to respect the information that comes from credible sources, and take a "wait and see" approach from the others. The OP is a credible source on this board with other long time posters that have chimed in to say as much. Why on Earth would you berrate someone coming to us with actual useful information? Discuss what it means or what you think of this trend, or skip this thread altogether. Geez...I'm not even a frequent poster and I can sift through this without too much difficulty. Get over the OP's posting style and move on to the information.

He said he doesn't have any means or knowhow to scan the document and attach it on this forum, how is that being unable to present it to you? I'm sure if you went to his house he'd present it to you.

Im sure he must have some tech savey. After all, he is posting on an Internet forum. Also, I'm sure if he can't figure it out he knows someone that could help him.

This is not something you can sit around and wait to see if it happens. I could ask what the park hours on March 12th 1978 and he could tell me. But the truth of today's society is that many of us like to have proof to back up claims from others. He claims to have proof. However, he continues to make excusses as to why he can't present his proof. But then he has already said he has no desire to prove anything to anyone.

Im not saying that WDW1974 isn't who or what he says he is. However if you look at the other sources on this forum they never feel the need to insult others when called out.

Who exactly does he say he is? I missed his intro post and don't feel like thread surfing to find it.

You're a clueless wonder. I may wish I were still a kid (at weak moments), but I haven't been for decades. Sorry.

As for insider grandeur as you so articulately put it, my experience, contacts and knowledge are what they are. I'm sorry if they make you feel inferior and decide you need to attack.

The trending downward of park hours in the past decade (actually even longer) has NOTHING to do with people suddenly all becoming old fart who want to be in bed at 10 p.m. ... it has nothing to do with people visiting at different periods ... it really has been a deliberate management deal ... think of how many people now start their day with a magical foamhead breakfast (nothing like wattery scrambled eggs, fatty bacon and fruit for $19.99 a person) ... this is all part and parcel of Disney trying to make its parks morning and afternoon destinations.

People like to stay out late when they're on vacation ... even if they have kids. Disney has just conditioned guests to consider a 9 or 10 p.m. closing as late.

It isn't.

It's just WalMarting. Less quality. More money.

I stopped shopping at Walmart for just that reason. Maybe you should do the same with Disney.
