DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

There is nothing wrong with Star Tours and it should be left as is for a while until a lot of other stuff happens at DHS (including replacing/expanding into Launch Bay and the old Animation building backstage plus replacing BatB show and Indy). I'm not saying they shouldn't touch ST in principle but it has a huge benefit in a park due to its relatively low waits and high re-rideability due to the scene randomization.

But I notice the portion of Star Tours we see in the art (the gift shop) doesn’t really look like the gift shop to me.

I'm not going to agree with the guy on everything, but I think the site his content has improved dramatically and I think he has learned several lessons from the earlier missteps. That's all anyone can really be expected to do.

I agree with you 100% there, he has grown a lot, and I wish more people would realize that. This online community (and pretty much every fandom under the sun) can really hold onto grudges for much longer than they should.

The Muppets are remarkably adaptable characters. That's part of their charm. To put them on a roller coaster isn't remotely close to far fetched. If anything, we can get the visual of Kermit crazily waving his arms.

Okay, the visual of Kermit's arms flailing has sold me a little bit. I'm not against the retheme, I'm mostly just upset it's at the cost of MV3D, haha.

I hope that there is a serious renovation of the MuppetVision theater before placing a Monsters show in there. The size of the theater is way too large for a Monsters show to not also suffer 75% full crowds at max. Hopefully they could rework the space to cover a show and a store?

While I knew it was going to be a Friday announcement, I thought it would be much later in the day

Look on the bright side, since they are not using the Animation courtyard, all the employee office space is SAVED!

And for guests, there will still be a unused, vacant space in the park to relax in the Animation courtyard.

To trick you into believing there’s “more” to buy line skips and parties…which is the only reason they lift a finger in the first place.

At least if they are going to use the theater for a new show AND have the Monsters ride then its a net gain.

The NEW theater is just moving the laugh floor over to the theater and they will close the laugh floor in MK??

Okay, so I am actually pretty happy with this outcome (to a degree, more on that in a minute):

1. It's a net increase in attractions with the door coaster being a straight up addition (built on current parking) and a comparable show replacing MV3D in that building

2. Muppets are retained in the parks. Maybe not the ideal situation - I agree with the height restriction/intensity issue - but actually a decent theme for them
2a. The location does dovetail very well into replacing the future Villains show (once Villains land opens) with MV3D in the future and having that whole area be a Muppets theme. Or at least a similar theater Muppets show
2b. Also, there's possible space that if they wanted, they could try to do some sort of Muppets dark ride around RNR. I'd love for them to consider it

3. No immediate plans for Muppets to go to HoP which is great! Sorry, not sorry, but I'd rather keep HoP than MV3D given the option between the two

Now the downside....

1. My biggest issue is the timing. These plans are actually totally fine, but it will mean that both MV3D and RNR will go down before new stuff opens so DHS is going to have a capacity hit which it really cannot afford. The park is a slog to tour because of not enough stuff. IMHO, they should have knocked down Launch Bay and the backstage stuff there and build a new land with multiple rides first and when that was open, then worked on Monsters Inc/Muppets/RNR.

2. I really wanted to see Launch Bay and the old animation building torn down so we could get movement in that area. IMHO my biggest fear is that the idiots in charge end up saying things are "Good enough" and not address that area in the near to mod future when that is really the location where DHS needs expansion. It's like a decade overdue to have something substantial happen there. I don't care what it is, but they need to build something in that footprint ASAP for more attraction capacity and connect it to the RNR area for better guest flow.

How many kids even know who the Electric Mayhem Band even are? This is targeted at adults who have nostalgia for the muppets.

It's a roller coaster, that in itself will be a draw. There will be a recency bias when it first opens, and then I imagine it's wait times will fall in line with the original.

High schoolers should be tall enough to Rock'n Roller Coaster.

My daughter is about 43 inches tall and turns 5 in two months. I'm guessing she gets to 48 inches before high school.

Not really my thing. With that said, if they do it, it would have to be a different ride (or rides). If they're opening up that large an area for some crayola box theming and one attraction, that's eerily similar in layout to Runaway Railway, they've made a mistake.
