I love Zootopia, but does it bug anyone else that Disney seems to only be focused on the same handful of currently relevant but not evergreen IP, and are cloning so many lands to the point that parks are just hodgepodges of a random combination of lands? Like, Hollywood Studios used to have an identity, and soon it's going to be "this land from Hong Kong, this land from Shanghai, this land from California", etc. How long until the Lion King land from Paris gets cloned here?

I miss when all the parks had clear, distinct identities. EPCOT doesn't feel like EPCOT anymore, Hollywood Studios doesn't feel like either Hollywood nor a studio anymore, etc.

So Disney updated the seats in Muppets. So at that moment in time they did not know they were going to tear down the place.

This tells me, Disney never has any long term plan for anything and whatever happens, happens and Disney is just does stuff randomly, so even for stuff they announce and create concept drawings for may never happen or may be greatly changed.

We have NO IDEA what's going happen.

So the theater will be repurposed for the new Monsters show which will I assume include the new seats. The concept art shows the theater building in tact as well. They are not going to tear it down.

See it as an homage. But like much of WDW and EPCOT. It is a cha ce to say "That reminds me of when this better thing used to exist."

I think this new land will be great. My only real fear right now is Tower. I need the new film to do well, so, as is always the case, my happiness now depends on Scarlett Johansson.

As a diehard TZ fan, I hope the film bombs and they keep Tower as it is. You can dream about being in a hotel with Scarlett Johansson, but don't you dare take Rod Serling away!

Star Tours needs to move to Galaxy's Edge. The spaceport needs a non interactive alternative to Falcon.

Well, at least they're apparently doing a show along with the coaster so maybe it won't actually make the park a worse experience.

This still feels like a bad decision, but it could have been worse.

In an ideal world, how long do you guys think MuppetVision would have lasted?

Clearly they identified this area of the park as easier to develop than Animation Courtyard. Best case scenario, 7 years tops.

It’s also worth pointing out that Monsters is a really aesthetically uninteresting IP. The whole gimmick is that the setting is banal, contrasting with the fantastic characters. A full land and coaster centerpiece are terribly ill-fitting for the franchise. It needs a dark ride - like the one in Tokyo.

It's a city scape, not much different than Muppets to be honest. I think we would be that much more enthusiastic if they could somehow get Ride and Go Seek in the Muppets theater in addition the Coaster.

This is one of the reasons I think Hollywood Studios was a better/more enjoyable park in the 1990s than it is right now, even with a weaker attraction lineup.

Thank goodness WDW has the "blessing of size". Otherwise the parks would stay the same footprint and never able to accommodate more guests... plus, favorite attractions would get replaced.

Also, thank goodness the creative folks are able to come up with new storylines and shows for the streaming services so that existing park IP can grow and flourish. Like in Fontierland, Davy Crocket, Zorro, and Elfago Baca are ripe for adventurous shows. If not for this fantastic storytelling, we'd have things like anthropomorphic cars mudding through the wilderness counting as frontier adventure in place of real, human stories.

We'd also get things like a mish-mosh of villains being thrown together in a land. It would have been horrible if they had put a whole new ring around the entire park (like the hub expansion) that crated additions to each land that could have the villains that made sense for each land exist within a cohesive storytelling for that land.

Again, thank goodness for the blessing of size and the creative process.

I actually think all of this will have no impact to Tomorrowland right now.

Putting the Monsters Inc land in this location is a good decision. While I love the Muppet's a ton, I think this move will bring more life to this area and a refreshed RNRC would be a fun time too.

Since the coaster is being built slightly outside of the current park limits, hopefully they will keep the Muppet 3D show open for a while before they have to rennovate the area. After that, hopefully they move Muppet 3d over to Epcot or into the expansion theater at some point.

The indirect action that I like about this decision is how it might affect the cars land build at the Magic Kingdom.
With Launch Bay still being a wasteland, maybe they can move cars land into that area. This idea was mentioned in a video by "the noble way" on youtube and I think it would be great to see.

I'm happy about this, I do hope eventually muppets3d takes the places of the cars/villains show building. Plus ive been saying for a while muppets for RcRC is a great choice. I also hope (even though I doubt it happens) that Star Tours gets rethemed and becomes a part of Monsters Inc

I’m trying to catch up (on 281/294), is there truth to the MILF building having asbestos and needing to be torn down to build anything new? Not sure how that would factor into what gets put there but if the plans for TL are big it would make sense.
