DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I have a really difficult time thinking of a compelling show, based on this property, that would provide a significant draw/boost capacity
Here's an idea: The Monsters want to increase their laughing reach and so they decide to record comedy routines to show through the doors. And then they decide they want it to be in 3D....

That idea should not be put out in the world….even if it’s just a joke ;););). I do think it’s easy to have RnRC (and show building next to it) area as a mini muppets land and keep ToT unchanged. The Muppets can blend in most places so they fit fine in a Hollywood themed area even if the timeline doesn’t quite work. Aerosmith were also not around in the 1930s so nothing worse than what we have today as far as timelines.

I do hope they decide to move the whole MuppetVision show in its entirety next to RnRC but if not maybe it will at least be a quality new Muppets show. There is probably not room in that area for a full restaurant or large gift shop but maybe some food carts with a few tables and a small outside retail area in addition to the RNRC gift shop. Maybe even squeeze in the fountain or even better an outdoor show scene in the courtyard area replacing the lightning McQueen stuff. Maybe to keep with the rock theme, a covered stage with a Muppet AA band playing some popular songs.

I’m happy to see the Muppets getting a place in the parks and Aerosmith is no great loss. Losing the original ToT would be for me. That ride should never be touched.
To me, Muppets ToT is seamless. The characters can fit right in. Just redo the film to have muppets instead of people. It would also be less scary (not that it is), and more family friendly. Gonzo and Rizzo do the pre-show, Miss Piggy and others are the guests who are zapped.

Asbestos is only really dangerous when it's disturbed, like during demolition. Installed asbestos is usually not a major issue (although as I said above I'd be very surprised if there was any asbestos left at Disney World anyways, and there probably wasn't much to begin with other than parts of the Magic Kingdom).

Most of world showcase is asbestos

Also them choosing not to touch Animation Courtyard makes me believe those rumors about them saving that area for Marvel, and them trying to get through rights back
With rumors that Universal is developing a replacement for MSHI, perhaps them getting Marvel back for WDW isn't that far fetched.

Food for thought: I wonder if the rumor about MSHI being replaced is accurate, I wonder if that replacement could be something related to Wicked considering how that movie is likely to do gangbusters at the box office.

The show component is honestly what confuses me the most about this project. I’m happy to be proven wrong, but I have a really difficult time thinking of a compelling show, based on this property, that would provide a significant draw/boost capacity beyond what Muppets would still be able to do with increased foot traffic going past it (which I’d argue the same for with the Dino conversion). Especially with the marketing that (barring this show being out of left field impressive) will likely not even be remotely focused on the show, instead highlighting the coaster and land as a whole.

With how standalone the theater is in these plans, it feels like they really could have done everything except the show swap, save themselves some money, and placate fans.

Maybe to your point but Monsters could have enjoy Muppets too. Kermit put together a show in a gulag.

Do people who complain about Tom even watch any of his videos? (I already know the answer to that, it's no)

When he praises Disney, he's a shill. When he criticizes them, he's a disgruntled toxic fanboy who's never happy. Literally until his site was back on the media list, the goalpost was "he's never happy" and now it's "he's a shill" despite his tone and opinions not changing at all, and I would know because I work with him now, and I have edited dozens of clips and videos of him actively hating something Disney has done. Disney specifically asked him to continue to be honest with his thoughts, even if they're negative. There was a whole meeting. There are recent reviews from him where he criticizes Disney, but no one cares enough to watch something before they complain. Both of his Tiana's reviews had negative points about the ride despite him overall liking it. And now people are mad at him because he... made a prediction that was wrong? Are we seriously getting mad at Tom for being wrong about the Muppets rather than getting mad at the people who actually made the decision to pull the plug on them?

When other Disney Park people are overly positive, why don't we call them shills or excuse-makers? I see people who are FAR bigger white knights for Disney and no one ever gives them crap for it. Heck, there are people on Disney's media list who I have never seen say a single negative thing about them, unlike Tom. People are entitled to their own opinions on people, but if those opinions aren't actually factual then it's annoying. Why complain about a journalist when you don't even bother reading or listening to what they have to say?

Rant over, lmao. Also even if I hadn't started working for the guy I'd feel the same way, I just really dislike this kinda stuff. Like all the people hating on Poseidon Entertainment without even watching his videos.

I was one of Tom's biggest detractors and during COVID we did a podcast together. It was productive, we talked about my criticisms and we bonded over a mutual love of Disney. I hadn't seen him in person after that until I ran into him at the D23 Expo this year where we talked for 20-30 minutes.

I'm not going to agree with the guy on everything, but I think the site's content has improved dramatically and I think he has learned several lessons from the earlier missteps. That's all anyone can really be expected to do.

The Muppets don't work with thrills, no matter how many people want to try to twist it as a good fit. The Muppets are performers, they are meant to exist in dialogue and acting-based mediums. Blasting by plywood paintings of Muppets while Muppet music plays doesn't fit the brand at all, it'd be like making a kiddie flat ride based on Family Guy.

That said: Is Hollywood Rip-Ride-Rocket going to lose its Muppets music? lmao

The Muppets are remarkably adaptable characters. That's part of their charm. To put them on a roller coaster isn't remotely close to far fetched. If anything, we can get the visual of Kermit crazily waving his arms.

I think such a versatile ride system could be reused for another IP that WDW would like to feature.

There is nothing wrong with Star Tours and it should be left as is for a while until a lot of other stuff happens at DHS (including replacing/expanding into Launch Bay and the old Animation building backstage plus replacing BatB show and Indy). I'm not saying they shouldn't touch ST in principle but it has a huge benefit in a park due to its relatively low waits and high re-rideability due to the scene randomization.
