DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

2. I really wanted to see Launch Bay and the old animation building torn down so we could get movement in that area. IMHO my biggest fear is that the idiots in charge end up saying things are "Good enough" and not address that area in the near to mod future when that is really the location where DHS needs expansion. It's like a decade overdue to have something substantial happen there. I don't care what it is, but they need to build something in that footprint ASAP for more attraction capacity and connect it to the RNR area for better guest flow.

I'll be pretty surprised if this isn't what happens, especially with a new CEO in 2026 (potentially).

It's why I didn't want them to get rid of MV3D without Animation Courtyard also under construction for something else.

This is a much better plan than just swapping MV3D for the Door Coaster -- which would have made the park worse -- so it's nowhere near as bad as it could have been, but this still isn't going to be especially helpful for DHS. They need an Animation Courtyard replacement ASAP and instead it's likely going to sit untouched for a decade+.

What a personal kick to the nuts to lose Muppetvision, something folks of all ages and ride ability can enjoy, to be replaced by a thrill ride many won't enjoy, and moving Muppets to a thrill ride that, again, will not be enjoyed by people that don't like thrill rides. But a win for people who love thrill rides.

A roller coaster is being ADDED to this land.

A BRAND NEW show is replacing Muppet*Vision and will still be accessible to everyone. Whether or not the brand new Monsters Inc. show is better/as good/worse than Muppet*Vision is the only thing we don't know.

To be fair, the headline on this site does say that MuppetVision is closing for a new Monsters Inc coaster.

The main point though is that Muppets is now only for those that can do thrill rides.

I guess that the deadend already exists with Mama Melrose at the end but I think crowds will be fighting around each other with the new ride at that end. Not a huge deal, just something that I thought about.

Instead of building two new attractions on land that has been rotting for a decade, they decided to close one attraction and replace it with another, build an entirely new one, and then retheme another attraction, leaving the park at -2 attractions for capacity while construction is going on and then only gaining a net +1, rather than -0 by building it in the AC (you could easily keep the Little Mermaid show open, there's more than enough room to build the entire Monsters land behind it) and gaining a net +2.

Seriously, insiders were saying it was going in the AC for awhile and now suddenly it's going in Muppets instead because it's likely cheaper to do so, and in the end it'll tank the park's capacity and offerings when it's already dying for more.

If it’s any consolation in regards to RnRc, the retheme can’t be any worse than what they did the RnRc in Paris with Flight Force.

when you look at it, Monsters Inc going where it is, will give the biggest return for the lowest amount of capital spending which I am absolutely fine with if it’s done well and makes sense. ( I think it makes sense)

Hey as long as the Muppets are taking over Sunset Boulevard I’d legit love a Muppets holiday overlay for Tower of Terror. Just do Tower but with Muppets as the characters. Gonzo as Rod Sterling, Kermit as the Bellhop, Piggy as the Movie star, Fozzy as a failing comedian, Statler and Waldorf as a pair of Hollywood critics who make fun of the whole thing. I like Muppets and stupid fun. Plus I genuinely think Disney will one day get rid of the Twilight Zone theme and make it something like the Disney Sea version since it’s a licensed property in its current state.

my only slight worry is that walkway to the ride will be a narrow bottleneck

MuppetVision is busy because the park is underdeveloped, but that's not an excuse to keep it. This land will be better utilized, attended, and more guest spending will occur. For a business, which its sole purpose is to make money... it makes sense.

The question becomes what do they do with AC.
