UPDATE i'm hearing that the train will be fully wrapped like tron was and could be themed to the avengers.

That could look really good! :king:

Because the Tron-orail did such an effective job of selling movie tickets and turning that film into the year's biggest blockbuster????

No, but the Tron-Orail had a sleek look and was something to look for while it lasted. That movie was never going to be the movie of the year, no matter what, but give Disney credit for putting marketing muscle behind it.

It's gonna be for The Muppets release on Blu Ray and it will feature Pepe.

Wait for it... PRAWNORAIL

:ROFLOL: That joke is so corny it hurts!

While I don't think it's a bad move, it's far from one of the smartest Disney has ever made.

A good number of Marvel's biggest characters' movie rights belong to different studios, including by far their biggest name (Spider-man) and arguably their second biggest name (X-Men). Not to mention needing to buy off Paramount for the ability to distribute The Avengers.

On top of that the theme park rights in Florida are own by your biggest competitor for as long as they want them, and possibly in Tokyo as well (not sure on the details there).

The move wasn't bad, per say. But hardly one of their best.

The good news about Spiderman and Xmen is that if Disney or Marvel see fits and sees that both those franchises are not living up to their potential they can take them back. Plus they, and in essence Disney, gets a piece of the pie for other companies doing the leg work. So when Spiderman comes out this year Disney will in essence get the profit for doing no work.

The theme park thing is a little tricky since again Disney is getting money from their competitor without having to do any work. While it would be nice to have them in their pocket it is nice for Disney to get free publicity from their rivals.

Once Avengers comes out i am pretty sure it will solidify the deal as being one of the best...maybe not the best, Pixar is the best deal, but one of the best.

But both of those profits are miniscule compared to the profits the competitors are making.

And I'd really like to know where you're getting the "Marvel and Disney can take back the franchises if they want". Because if that was the case, you better believe the Mouse would be sitting pretty on Spider-man's movie rights.

There is a clause that says that if Sony or Fox make a movie with Marvel property that does not meet Marvels vision, like making a Spiderman movie where he is a gang banger who kills(just a stupid example) then Marvel has legal rights to take back the license. Just like if they go 5 years without making a movie the rights revert back to marvel.

Plus about the profits, while they are miniscule compared to what the competitors make they still are big because they are pure profit since Disney/Marvel has to invest no income in the product, that is done by the competitor. It happens all the time, look at WB and the Harry Potter movies, guess who owns the TV movie rights to the movies? Disney via ABC Family.

The competitor does not have Avengers though...unless you count the Captain America, Iron Man and Thor cut outs. They only have the Hulk.
Universal has the rights to the Avengers. The contract states that Universal has the rights to the entire family of characters related to those in use and specifically uses the Avengers as an example. Captain America has a diner and those "cut outs" would likely meet the contract's requirements to count.

Are you serious? I mean really? The Marvel deal has already become one of the smartest moves Disney has ever made. Once Avengers comes out it will solidify that.

Hahaha. Ya it's right up there with the ABC/ESPN and the Pixar deals. I said depserate and pathetic. It might be a smart move, but it's pathetic and without a doubt a desperate move. This is my last post responding to you. It is a complete waste of time falling into your troll trap.

Think for yourselfer
Sorry i forgot i should of used your logic, "i love/hate it so that means EVERYONE does." I mean you say that about everything, your opinion is that of everyone right? Is that right, God?

You flatter me.

Quite frankly you should try using someone's logic, because your's betrays you at every turn.

Disney traded the movie rights in perpetuity for the rights to the Spidey movie merch. The five year rule no longer exists.

For those who want to see the train being wrapped a picture has surfaced on another Disney fan site. I would link but it's not allowed.
