Monorail to be wrapped once again

The only upcoming Marvel movie that they won't be a distributor on is Spider-Man because the have not been able to buy these distribution rights. I can guarantee that there will be a new Spider-man movie every 5 years now just to make sure Disney doesn't get those distribution rights for free.

Disney gave up the Spidey film rights in exchange for the merch rights.

I didn't know that deal was made. My bf is a film buff and he will be interested to hear this. He was who enlightened me to the 5 year deal. It is something about loosing distribution rights to a franchise or idea if you aren't actively producing something in it every 5 years if someone else owns the right to the story/characters. I wonder with this new distribution deal if that rule will stay or if they will have it forever.

I don't think they are allowed to use anything Marvel in the parks that includes Avengers advertisements on the monorail

To my knowledge they aren't allowed at the moment to have rides or character meet and greats but they can and do have merchandise rights. A wrap could easily just be seem as marketing and then Universal couldn't do a thing about it.

If it's Avengers, I am curious if it does conflict with the current agreement with Universal. Though I'm sure they can spin it, as the monorail's technically more public transportation than amusement park ride.

I'm curious how hard they might push this Marvel envelope. We've already had the merchandise in the parks, and this is probably as close as we'll get to a "Marvel Ride" for the near future...

My understanding is that they considered things like event based promotions. I believe something like a Marvel weekend was still possible. Having said that, if they wrap the monorail they very well may only be able to use the Avengers logo and no actual characters from the movie.

So considering the degree that the Avengers fits the theme of a monorail (re: not at all), I take it we can expect one of these for every big movie now?

Maybe we can get a whole fleet tied to different franchises! All the fun of seeing images from your favorite Disney, ABC, ABC Family and ESPN shows on a monorail! Who doesn't want to ride Monorail Modern Family or Monorail Switched at Birth or Monorail Sports Center?!

I agree, do you guys not remember the homage to the Progress City model that was done during the Stark Expo?

Yeah. I don't think anyone is forgetting that.

But a movie teaser poster art wrapped around the monorail(if that is in fact what this is) does not equal Stark Expo theming.

Nor does it mean the end of cohesive theming. It's a temporary wrap on a monorail.

Just like the Tronorail, I am 100% against this. Putting aside the silliness of having the Avengers plowing through MK or Epcot. The fact that WDW is using the Monorails as giant billboards is cheesy and tacky.
