Monorail to be wrapped once again

Sigh...well, its only temporary. And considering the movie comes out in May, I'd like to think this wrap will only be with us for about 6 months maximum (as opposed to the nearly 16 months of Tronorail).

Nor does it mean the end of cohesive theming. It's a temporary wrap on a monorail.

Than why bring up progress city parodies in the Iron Man sequel to justify it fitting on the monorail?

Its a giant billboard. A giant moving billboard.

What it does mean though is evidence of a continuing shift in a direction the company did not compromise the iconic and classy look of the monorail with synergy.

Just like the Tronorail, I am 100% against this. Putting aside the silliness of having the Avengers plowing through MK or Epcot. The fact that WDW is using the Monorails as giant billboards is cheesy and tacky.

Most people would rather have monorails that look nice like the Tronorail instead of the boring looking white monorails

That assumes people thought the Tronorail looked nice.

And since none of us know what "most people" would rather have....

Blasphemy. An all white monorail would have looked amazing with two black pinstripes outlining the color stripe. So mad that never happened and instead we got Peach.

This is literally the stupidest thing I've ever heard Disney do. They're wrapping a monorail AT WDW to advertise a product AT A COMPETITOR'S PARK!!!!! :brick:

It's CRAZY! I can just hear it now:

"Mommy, look at the train! I want to see IRON MAN!
Sorry little Jimmy. We should have gone to Universal. We'll go there instead next time, I promise."

The damage they're going to do far outweighs any promotional benefit they may get. It's insane.

I know it's ridiculous. The whole Marvel deal was such a desperate and pathetic move.

Just remember, the castle for DL was to promote a movie.......

relax, people.

Big difference between a name that fits the subject matter... vs a huge billboard that is out of place and whose subject matter that has no relevance either.

Not the same at all.

This is just sad... there is no one who will stand up for show anymore it seems. At least TRON was semi-futuristic... 'saving the modern planet superheros' not so much.

This likely has to do with the corporate structure of The Walt Disney Company. Walt Disney World is, in all likelihood, being paid by Walt Disney Studios for this wrap. So Walt Disney World's books look better and the Studios is unconcerned with the issues of park mindshare and attendance.

Are you serious? I mean really? The Marvel deal has already become one of the smartest moves Disney has ever made. Once Avengers comes out it will solidify that.

While I don't think it's a bad move, it's far from one of the smartest Disney has ever made.

A good number of Marvel's biggest characters' movie rights belong to different studios, including by far their biggest name (Spider-man) and arguably their second biggest name (X-Men). Not to mention needing to buy off Paramount for the ability to distribute The Avengers.

On top of that the theme park rights in Florida are own by your biggest competitor for as long as they want them, and possibly in Tokyo as well (not sure on the details there).

The move wasn't bad, per say. But hardly one of their best.
