Monorail teal confirmed

I am hoping that we don't need to ride on it. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss when it comes to this sort of stuff. :( If it comes into the station, I think that I will opt to wait for the next one. I just can't imagine riding on a monorail with that sort of history, regardless of the paint job. It's just too sad.

I'm with you on that one. If I saw the teal one was going to be the one I should be on, I think I would decide to wait for the next one to come along. It would just weird me out to know all that it's been through.

I'll be more than happy to ride Monorail Teal!!!

Do you think I no longer take I-465 or I-69 to work because there were horrific fatalities along that route?! Of course not!!! Do I stay away from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since drivers have died on that property?? Nope---I'm there every year!

If only cosmetic fixes were done to Monorail Purple (i.e.----front car involved restored, with no cars added from other train AND stripe remains purple)---then, yeah---maybe that would be a little weird! But the measures taken here seem to try to reach some middle ground between ending one (sad) chapter and starting a new chapter in WDW history.

So, yes---I will ride any of the trains that pulls into the station on my next visit!!!:)

The article makes it sort of sound like the guests prohibition from the cab is a permanent change. Glad I got to do it once.

Indeed depressing if true. I would see it as just another knee-jerk reaction. This tragedy was a freak accident and series of coincidences that snowballed. If they've fixed all the loop-holes in the system (and there were obviously loop-holes), it's safer than ever.

Worst case, they could actually plan ahead and just notify all platforms that "no guests in front until all-clear is given" if they're going to be moving trains between beams. Don't punish everyone for a few bad apples.

I'll be more than happy to ride Monorail Teal!!!

Hello fellow Indiana-er. (I don't say Hoosier because I'm a Boilermaker and Hoosiers wear cream and crimson!).

OT, but, I feel for you if you really have to travel I-69 every day. They might as well not even mention it on radio traffic reports, because it's kind of a given that there are back-ups and wrecks every single day. I avoid I-69 like the plague (or H1N1)!

I think the change in colors is just dumb PR.

You want to honor the memory of a kid who died needlessly? How about you go back to putting safety above cost and guest satisfaction?

I'll also go on the record and say this change would never have been made if not for the Internet Era. Disney knows how many folks have read and watched YouTube on this tragedy and they don't want people saying unmagical things like 'this is the monorail that killed a guy in that wreck' while onboard or waiting.

Thing is ... the same folks who are likely to know it was pink and purple colliding are the same folks who are likely to know that teal is made up from their remnants.

I say it's smart PR. What's it cost them? 5 gallons of paint?

But it is just that - PR. Safety is something that is very often overlooked. When it is overlooked because of money, people tend to be clear cut about it. When it's overlooked to provide greater guest satisfaction, well that something that is harder to sell (but it is the correct thing to do)
All this pain scheme is, is some free PR. I am not faulting them for taking it, but they need to do more than just retire two colors.

I am glad that my kids and myself rode in the front I don't know, about half a dozen times, on a variety of beams. I was hoping they would not discontinue that little treat.

So the NSTB report is out stating that there is a company-wide inattention to saftey due to monetary and guest satisfaction concerns?
