It's sad, but true. The old Disney was filled with technology/advancements of the future: The Monorail, Peoplemover, Mission to Mars, etc.

The new Disney is "the customer is going to pay"-IP. They'll happily plop some IP in some location and raise prices. That's today's Disney. If you have an idea that's the litmus test it needs to pass:
- Does it directly help increase the bottom line? (ie. Can you directly make money from it?)
- Is it IP related? (promotes a movie.. merchandise..)

The Monorail and Peoplemover are neither of those so they won't be expanded or added (Epcot could certainly use the Peoplemover and they even planned for it, which kind of sucks). That's the way it is.

If you're a Disney fan today then you should be happy that:
1) They're not raising prices higher than they have
2) The IPs at least mean that they're adding something

Innovation is out. IPs are in.
