We're talking the The Magic, The Memories, and You! The Castle Projection show. Not Wishes: A Magical Gathering of Disney Dreams which is the fireworks show.

I asked this one in a previous thread about MM&Y. Any idea if they will be adding projectors in the FLE buildings in order to make the show completely around the castle. One would think that this would help alleviate the crush of humanity in front of the castle.

Is moving the projectors back and the new infrastructure that you are talking about possibly setting up for possibly adding "Dreams!" anytime soon?
Not at this time. Although changes to and/or replacing Wishes has been discussed this work is purely to improve the projection experience.

Adding Dreams has never been proposed. Adding a new show using some of Dreams tech has been. But at the moment it's not happening.

Alright, thanks. That's sort of a missed promotional opportunity though with this debuting right around FLE. Although i'm sure they'll promote the hell out of whatever this is on the Parks blog like it's the greatest thing ever.

And yeah, that's what I meant (A new show using the Dreams tech).

It isn't. Well, it could be, but the lifts would have to be millimetre accurate and rock solid once in position.
Better to just hide the projectors.

I'd just add to this that while we were all concerned that the current location was permanent and if so would have been a sort of "declining by degrees", it now appears they were only placed in their current location due to the MSUSA restoration project.

It was the plan all along to not have them be so visible. Once moved I'd bet only those who know where to look and where to look from will even be able to view them.

All that concern by so many (and I was one of them) was for nothing. Sometimes even I get caught up in the negativity even though I should know better by now.

It's really a shame. The MK desperately needs a show that could incorporate tech from the projectors, fountains from WoC, color changing LED lighting in trees and the incredible potential for great pyro at the MK. Wishes was fine for its time but its been running for 9 years and pyro has been cut. Something new to actually wow guests is needed.

I remember that folks had mentioned that plans for something like this were canned earlier this year. But based on some of the conversations in the "big changes" DL vs WDW thread started by '74, should we be a bit more optimistic about something like that?

They could still get by with a pyro show if they actually up'd the ante. When anyone goes and looks how they up'd the baseline with Remember... with the 360 deg pyro.. high and low pyro.. integration with the buildings around, etc.

With the 3d mapping, the hub and main street... Disney could make an incredible show. But bring in the 360 pyro, etc.

I really love MM&Y, but I would like to see the projector technology incorporated into Wishes. After sitting around waiting for MM&Y, then waiting another 5-10 minutes for Wishes to start, I'm ready to get back to the attractions or heading back to the resort.

I get that. But ever since they added MM&Y, I've been wondering why. They never add good stuff these days. They take away. So, my lesser nature has been nagging at me and saying, "They're going to combine this with a little bit of fireworks and take the good show away."

I hope I am wrong. I hope this was just a nice addition and not a way to prep us for a loss of Wishes.

Despite some questionable decisions in the recent past, I highly, highly, highly doubt that Disney would be foolish enough to eliminate fireworks at the Magic Kingdom in favor of a projection show.

I wouldn't expect the new show till October or November. so new show name...does this mean all new music? I liked the music! And will they keep the photo thing? It wouldn't be bad if they did away with that because you could hardly see the photos anyway. I just hope it is an improvement which I am sure it will be!

You know as many times as we've been to the MK in the past couple of years we have seemed to miss this show. My wife and I finally saw a video on youtube of MMY and were so looking forward to seeing it with our kids this trip. Wouldn't you know that we'll be there during the upgrade. Oh well, just another reason to plan for next year too.

It isn't really the same. The beauty of the LED dreamlights is that they are themselves the light emitters - you are looking at the source. This gives the intensity and shimmering effect. You cannot achieve this with a projection, as you are not looking at the source of the light.
Plus, I would think an entire castle of LEDs is cheaper to operate than the electricity and bulb costs of the projectors.

Is there any chance we'll get any projector integration with the holiday firework shows? Ever since they introduced MM&Y, I've been dreaming of HalloWishes with projectors (same amount of fireworks, of course)

Well all I know is DH is going to be bothered if the show isn't back by the 19th and doesn't include the spot with Walt. Why? B/C he thinks it's hysterical watching me start crying over this. :p
