MM&Y closing for replacement

So the last show will be Sept. 2nd, is that right!?!

One thing that's bothered me is the entire concept of "closing date". I would much prefer people use "last day of operation" as it eliminates any confusion.

As someone that's going to be there from 9/1-9/5 I would also like to know what is the last day of operation 9/2 or 9/3

Maybe you guys were already thinking this, but I am suprised that no one has mentioned the possibility of incorporating the new glowing Mickey ears into the show. From everything that I have seen on the Disney Blog, the mickey ears would only needs various RFID transmitters set-up in an area to make it work with any particular show. I don't necessarily think that this is necessary , but it would be nice if they took this oppurtunity incorporate this technology at MK.

Having recently been to a Coldplay concert this idea is not at all unfeasible. They distribute RFID wristbands to every concert goer that then light up with the music and flash in time to the music. It's quite cool in an 18,000 seat arena. I'd hope they do think about this.

You should check in on the Disney Parks Blog or a DL website. Disney already does this, and does it very much more advanced than the concert example. He was talking about bringing that show to MK. DLR started it with World of Color and has been expanding it to different elements around the resort.. Fantasmic! is next.

Ha! I haven't been to DL since 1996 -- back then the CA Adventure debacle was still on the back of a cocktail napkin... :D
I should say, bringing this to WDW would make nothing but sense.

Very cool concept but from what I read it was very costly. The article I read said that distributing all of the bracelets at one Coldplay show was estimated to cost about $640,000 per night.

I think you need Dream and Magic in there somewhere as well

Disney presents Disney's "Celebrate the Beginning of the Magical Memory Dreams and More Super Sensory Spectacular" presented by James Cameron's "Pandora, the World of Avatar" by James Cameron.

As someone who arrives 11/01, this has become my least favorite expression in the (Disney) World [wdwmagic: by the holidays of this year.]

I agree. As I've pointed out in the Fantasyland expansion thread, our trip is for the last full week of October. This is one more thing to add to the list of disappointments (if it is not a quick rework). I'm all for expansion and all for improvements, and I don't want to be so negative, but to miss an expansion that is weeks away from opening PLUS have Test Track possibly down (still saying Nov 30th???) PLUS now not have MM&Y (which we have not seen before).... It just seems as though it was poor timing. If the Fantasyland expansion was done, and Test Track was reopened, that could have taken away some of the disappointment of not having the MM&Y. I hope they will at least have the fireworks portion during the rework.
