You just know everything don't you?

I have a full time job...a good one...and I certainly don't need to make money from helping people out...but of course you won't believe me so why bother.

If you have a problem with me and others doing that why don't you start calling out other travel agents that do it JUST for profit. Enjoy
Hey, your back. Or did you ever leave? I know Disney travel agents who openly admit they get a cut. No need to question them since their honest. I know DVC members who openly admit they rent their points and make a small profit and I gladly rent from them knowing they dont operate under the guise of it strictly being for my happiness. You seem to have a fear about confronting the truth or at least answering questions. And I will admit that I know very little about the many things this planet has to offer. Only a fool would think hes got it all figured out.

@WDWDad13 , you sure did get those quotes out to your customers quickly while also lurking on the boards at the same time. Please take note how I did not question you on your speedy methods as Im sure it would yield no answer, just an insult and a false claim that your leaving...again

I was referring to what @WDWDad13 said about him getting a travel license not to profit but to be able get info that they send to travel agents...yeah right. You are correct about the airlines though.

First most TA's don't have a license per say. They work for a "home agency" and pay a fee to use their ATTA and CLIA numbers ( I was a Disney centric TA). I imagine that what WDW Dad does. You cant just go and take a test and get a license. He probably started the whole TA thing with the notion it would be " fun to do". I felt the same way/ But ultimately it cost you money to do it, therefore you need to make money. Booking a Disney vacation is one of the most time consuming trips you can book. Now with MM+ it has become much more difficult and time consuming. Take in to account that Disney is the lowest paying ( per commission) vendor there is and the cuts they made to what a TA can collect a commission on it is a very low paying proposition. Home agencies vary greatly on how much they charge in fees. I have heard anything from 10% to 50%. Mine was 15% if I remember correctly. Disney pays 10% commission. At one time Disney gave the TA's discounts, perks etc. Most of those have been cut. Also the things they had paid commission such as PhotoPass and boat rentals etc. have been cut. You basically can only earn commission on the resort package you sell. There could be something I am missing, I am sure someone will correct me if I am.

MM+ actually has made it more difficult for the consumer to book a visit, which could mean more business for a TA ( theoretically) I think most people will go to the Disney website to do it themselves and some people will say..."I need help" Some people will say "heck with this!" some will do it themselves. IMO it still will not make more money for the TA, just more difficult.

The airlines cut the TA's out only because there is no meat left on the bone. The cost of the flight is the lowest possible. The airlines are extremely competitive. You can still make commissions on international flights. Just not domestic.

edit: one more thing, if you do not work for a "ear marked agency" you have nothing but a uphill battle in the TA world.

One Little Spark...
So, if we remove the ad hom for a little bit...

First, at least in my observation, there are very few people who post on these forums who DO NOT like Disney. Most, I'd say, love Disney. If I may, I'll point out that one of the participants in this thread is @marni1971 . This is a man who has devoted dozens if not hundreds of hours creating videos admiring and honoring the Disney parks.

I'd hardly call him a "hater".

There are different "sections" to this forum. In the trip reports / trip planning sections, for example, you'll find a far more upbeat group of regulars, and in general a more positive outlook on the parks than in places like the News and Rumors section (where this is).

Also, you'll find many of the posters here, while in this thread (and others) have open concerns about the path Disney is taking (me being one of them), also will venture into threads where people are either new, or posing questions, and will give positive advice and recommendations.

This thread is not the sum-totality of users opinions about Disney. Nor should individual posts here, where the topic IS about peoples thoughts of the new system and the track Disney is pursuing, be construed as such.

Doom and Gloom is such an amusing term. Or the b-word, as some like to use it. It's not doom and gloom, it's real observations, real opinions, like them or not.

It's not like these posts are "I HATE DISNEY, THEY STINK! UNI ROCKS!" In most cases specific examples can be given, and are given, as to why the poster feels this way.

The reason I bring this up is for edification and clarification. My own personal concerns about Disney's corporate choices and current standards does not reflect that I don't like the parks.

It doesn't mean that I (or others) are waiting in the wings of the forums to pounce on a new family planning their first trip and overwhelm them with "deeper" or "negative" content.

These observations come from people who have followed the parks for a while and visit them often, and, like most opinions, vary. Others will notice the same things, and may agree, or they won't...and in either case, I, personally, don't care. If they see the value for them, let them have their fun.

A personal example...I post that I like the Dining Plan a lot (and catch flack for that). I also post that I think CBR gets a bum rap (and catch flack for that). I can give explanations as to why I feel the way I do about both. If others don't agree, and many times they'll post that they don't, that's their choice.

They may have points that cause me to re-examine mine...but, I am confident with my reasons, and don't require their justification. Therefore, I can have a discussion with them without taking their disagreement personally, and ideally, vice versa.

Anyhow...them's my thoughts on where things stand. The ad hom is getting a tad annoying and serves no purpose. That being said, just because a forum is about a specific subject (like Disney) doesn't mean that every thread should be unicorns and rainbows. It just doesn't work that way. Pretty much no forum that has members passionate about a specific topic does.

Thick your right Uni will never become numero uno. They don't have to. They just want a bigger piece of the pie. This will impact Disney's bottom line. Period.

There are rumors flying around that there are more Potter movies coming....how, what and when? I don't know.
When a franchise makes that kind of money they just wont let it die.....see Star Wars/

You all are the experts. You should know how all of this works. If not I'm not arguing anymore with you people. I have better things to do in my life than complain about everything and hate on people who simple enjoy helping others Cya

You made this promise before...but you have difficulty keeping it.
Bye Disney Daddy.

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't make a reappearance somewhere down the line.

I agree, first movie introduce a new cast of characters, not to mention a few familiar ones......second movie bring back Harry himself to hook you for the third movie.....BAM!.......Uni now has material for Potter 3.0

And that will be just the start.

The boy wizard's franchise will be sticking around.

Not if Comcast falters like some people are predicting. As soon as 2014.

Face it, there is a chance what Universal is getting built right now might be all you get for quite a long time.

Jimmy Thick- Look it up...And weep...
