MK to get SIX new FP attractions? UGH?!?!

Yeah, lines might be long, but you can still get on. I guess I just see it as people being spoiled by the old system. Also, you can still use fastpass, that's not going away, you just have to use it within the time frame. What's the big deal about that?
The deal is that you will be able to use less FastPasses and see less attractions while paying more to get in. How many times does it need to be said wrote you get that it is an issue f there being less, not none. It is another case of Walt Disney World raising prices while offering less, hoping that some queues will distract from this new situation.

I was under the impression that you'd only be able to reserve a certain amount of FP's ahead of time.

Let's say 4...

They obviously wouldn't let you get FP for the three mountains because it wouldn't spread people out...so they'd set it up like this.

Group 1:
Splash Mountain
Space Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain

Group 2:
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion
Pirates of the Caribbean

Group 3:
Dumbo
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Astro Orbiter
Mickey's Philharmagic
Mad Tea Party

Group 4:
Peter Pan's Flight
Ariel's Undersea Adventure
It's a Small World
Winnie the Pooh

You get to pick 1 from each group...that way you spread the people out and keep the lines at the major attractions at bay.

Maybe, if you don't have a phone, they'd be willing to print them, and (as a convenience) bind them in some sort of a booklet. They'd probably have to use thinner paper to cut down on the cost, though, but you could see the most popular rides fast passes being longer than the less popular rides.

Probably not though -- that whole 'books of fast passes' notion is just crazy-talk.

Just a quick warning, Mansion will close on August 27th for the Haunted Mansion Holiday transformation. I believe Jungle Cruise will be closed around that time too, so if you want to experience both, plan accordingly!:)

Cool thank you so much. I should be there before that, are any other rides or shows gonna be down around the 15th through 18th that you know of? Only one that was down that I didn't get to do last time was the pinocchio ride. So excited, can't wait to go back!

It is a huge problem for them - even more so than WDW. But they chose not to rock the boat... yet.

So DL plans on doing the same fastpass+ stuff? Honestly if they did enforce return times over there, I don't see it as a big of a deal personally like I do at WDW. It's easy to come and go between the two parks and I love park hopping at WDW. It wasn't impossible for me to get a fastpass for TSM then head over to AK and do a few things and then back over to mgm to meet my time, but it sure as hell wasn't as convenient. That's why March was my last trip for a good while. Anyways, whether DL jumps on the bandwagon or not, I'm gonna enjoy using fastpasses next month.

Your welcome! So far there's nothing closed from the 15th-18th, so you're good! Pinocchio draws in short lines for the most part so hopefully there won't be a problem for you getting on the next time around.

Thank you so much again :D And it was actually closed for refurbishment when I last went. But I honestly barely even notice because I was so enthralled by the sheer amount of rides they have in their fantasyland. I think it's nice to have actual rides in a land like that, much better then fancy meet and greets and some scenery. That's nice to, don't get me wrong, but rides is what it's all about I think at the end of the day.

There has been no talk of Fastpass+ coming to DL out here on the West coast. Not even a hint. Enjoy your fastpasses and Cars Land! I still haven't seen Cars Land so if you go next month make sure to tell me how you like it.

Not a problem. Very true, Fantasyland has the most rides out of all the lands so if one ride is down it's not really a big deal. Have fun! Oh and check out my Big Thunder at Disneyland thread in the Disneyland Forum!

That's good news as I kinda hope I can swap WDW with DL as my 'the Disney' vacation spot. Though I'm a bit doubtful just because WDW was my first and it's home, but I'm just unimpressed with the new fastpass policy as well as all the other talks that I'm just not gonna go for a good while. And thanks, I will definitely enjoy it! Radiator Spring Racers has fastpass right? I remember a few rides down there not having fastpass, but I'm hoping it does. Either way, I'm excited!!

Well, when you talk to me like an idiot, that makes it completely clear. I still say you guys are all grousing to grouse.

DL's population disproportionaly knows about late returns compared to WDW visitors. DL has massive spikes in FP returns after things like F!, fireworks, etc. Locals also have a love hate with FP because they don't like coming into the park at their leisure, and having people who were there before them with FPs getting into line and making 'their' line longer, etc. They also don't like having constraints on their stay, so returning to a ride hours later at a fixed period is counter to their way of visiting as well.

There is no noise of FP+ at DL as of yet. This seems to be an experiment for WDW's integrated systems first.

Aaww, don't give up on WDW, it's home for you. Who knows, maybe the Fastpass+ plan won't last? RSR has fastpass but they run out very quickly, before noon I hear. You have to get there early. There's always the single rider option. Yeah there aren't many rides at either DL or DCA with the Fastpass option. The bg ones have fastpasses so you'll be fine.

I will concede the restaurant thing, that does drive me crazy, but I still don't get the attraction thing. Yeah, lines might be long, but you can still get on. I guess I just see it as people being spoiled by the old system. Also, you can still use fastpass, that's not going away, you just have to use it within the time frame. What's the big deal about that?
There comes a point where a guest won't get in line for something because they don't know or feel that the attraction at the end of the line is worth the wait. This is exactly the scenario being outlined by Dumbo the Flying Elephant. It's safe to say that in it's previous location, the attraction did not meet demand, or perhaps more accurately, the demand at 30 minutes was much lower than the demand at 15 minutes. Consider the following:

45 Minute Waits: 10% of guests are willing to wait for Dumbo
30 Minute Waits: 25% of guests are willing to wait for Dumbo
15 Minute Waits: 40% of guests are willing to wait for Dumbo

Creating longer standby lines with Fastpass+ is going to upset many people.

If you know in advance where people are going and when, then you can staff accordingly. Right now staffing is based on historical trends and is still a best guess. You get more certainty the more people who have planned out as much as possible in advance.
Yes, there's value there but I really don't see a substantial change in staffing as a result. I could be wrong, but I don't buy it.
So true! I'll be dining at the Blue Bayou in less than a week and only called to make a reservation a few days ago. Not only was there no issue getting to go on the day I desired, I was also able to choose the time of my reservation. Try doing this at a big name restaurant at Walt Disney World. I am only a party of two, so I might be able to get something over the span of a few days, but likely would have had to choose from a few oddly timed remaining slots.
Right now I have 3 trips scheduled to stateside Disney Parks
September 1-5: Disney World
January 16-22: Disney World
August 7-14: Disneyland

My September trip is on my Premier Pass, but I wouldn't be surprised if for January I get a MYW base ticket as I'm going with my family. Then in Disneyland, I may go with a length of stay pass as well. I was getting the Premier Pass every year since it's been available because the value of a Disney World pass + 4 days in Disneyland made it worth it. Now, I'm less convinced that I need/want a Disney World AP, Disney is getting less money from me, and I'm still enjoying the parks at my own price.

They're pricing people out, maybe not entirely, but they're going to see cuts from guests, if they're giving us less for more.
So DL plans on doing the same fastpass+ stuff? Honestly if they did enforce return times over there, I don't see it as a big of a deal personally like I do at WDW. It's going to be tough to prevent people from double booking attractions across multiple parks in the same way the double booked dining reservations. It's why I keep saying that the only way for Fastpass+ scheduling to truly be fair is to only allow it for guests that have checked into a park that day. Doing it in advance lends itself to so many problems.

I don't think I could ever truly give up on WDW now that I think about it. If anything I know that from what I hear, I will never be an AP holder again. Even the next time I go, I plan on getting in with a friendly ticket from a CM friend. And I can imagine the fastpass running out quickly for it, I honestly wouldn't mind standing in line for it, as long as it's not too extreme. But seeing as how I've never been on it, I can wait. We usually hit the WDW parks early, so I'll be sure to do the same over in DL. And glad to hear it has a single's line, also the thing I loved about DL was the sheer amount of rides that offered single line. If WDW did this, then I could see myself going back and having that be a substitue. Does TSM over in DCA still have single's line? I heard they got rid of it.

No more AP is definitely better than not going at all. Nothing like getting into a Disney park for free. I've been doing that all my life. In fact I think the only time I paid for a Disneyland ticket was for Grad Nite. I'm reading a trip report on another site and the OP stated the wait time in the morning for RSR was 270 minutes.:eek:Single rider was 40 so that's not bad. I don't think I've ever used single rider at either parks but I can definitely tell you TSMM got rid of theirs, unfortunately. The good thing is TSMM doesn't get huge crowds like TSM does.
