Due to the approaching tropical storm, the Magic Kingdom will be opening at 8 am. This is not limited to resort guests. Many attractions that are not open for morning emh will start early. Open times still may vary depending on staffing. No decision has been made about tomorrow evening or Wednesdaymorning when the storm is set to arrive.

All parks are now opening at 8:00 am tomorrow (Tuesday August 19) DisneyQuest will open at 9:00 am and the AMC Theatres will open at 10:00 a.m. Both performances of the Spirit of Aloha Luau have been cancelled for tomorrow due to forecasted weather.

The latest forecasted path shows it starting to affect Orlando Tuesday evening and then hitting Wednesday morning.

The opening of the parks on Wednesday morning may be the next question at this point.

I can see the in-room calls: "As part of our continuation of the Year of a Million Dreams celebration, every hotel guest this week has a chance to have the thrills of Typhoon Lagoon delivered to their doorstep!"

I half expected the voice mail this evening from the front desk to say that. I'm just hoping that the weather holds up tomorrow morning at 9 AM, as I have a Keys To The Kingdom Tour and hope that somehow the hurricane doesn't hit this area.

Personally Im non too happy with Fay. Im supposed to be moving up to Orlando tomorrow but with this little storm its not happening.
Since I'm more south and on the coast right now the storm is starting to hit and its not too bad, I doubt disney would close the parks for this little one. There is some wind and strong rain but everyone I know is heading to work tomorrow morning and most businesses are open. Also its good to remember that the storm has to pass over land before getting to the parks so it will weaken. By then it will just be another usual Florida summer afternoon thunderstorm so I highly highly doubt the parks would be closed Wednesday. I could see maybe closing a little early Tuesday but not by much. Fay is nothing to even think about. I've seen sun showers stronger than this.

Also the eye of the storm started hitting the keys 5 hours early so expect Fay to be gone *hopefully* 5 hours earlier, meaning it would be gone by Wednesday morning.

Hate to ruin anyone's day but if Orlando gets tomorrow what Miami got today, it won't be a good day to go to a park anyway. It rained all day with gusty wind but nothing too terrible. Probably a good day to ride Toy Story Mania 10 times in a row, assuming the parks even open.

parks'll open the question is for how long. if gusts exceed 50 MPH winfds, then they're closing the parks early. they can't operate the buses if the winds are higher than 50 MPH. i forsee early closings in order to better prepare for the storm,w hich may or may not cross the hurrican threshold.

so what about for CM's, when will they know if the parks are closed? I am scheduled to work at 4 tommorrow at epcot..ahhh.this sucks!
If Charlie was anything to go by, Cast Members were expected to report as normal, unless they were told different.

Interesting thought; what happens if the time you are due to report in is right at the height of the storm. I know I wouldn't be driving through it if it did elevate to hurricane...

Hope it weakens by the time it reaches the world, I'm in South Fort Myers right now getting totally pummeled:eek:, Should've trimmed up some of the trees in my yard yesterday. At least I don't have to work today...DS and I are watching Chip n Dale cartoons:D

I think that the guests going to/in the parks will be cautious enough to hold back until the storm passes. I feel terrible for the cast members that are expected to report to work as normal.

To all CM's around here that are supposed to work today and tomorrow, be careful!

We were there during Wilma, and I must say, ALL of the CMs were amazing. Despite the fact a hurricane was blowing thru their town (and they had no idea what was happening to their homes or families), they all still had smiles on their faces and made the best of a horrible situation. It was truly as if it was just raining. Disney Cms are the best, they are very dedicated, caring and special people:sohappy::sohappy::wave:.
Not to mention, when the parks finally reopened, they stayed open 'til 2 am (if I remember correctly), and I'm sure those Cms got a whopping 5 minutes notice they'd be working late. Thanks!, you are appreciated!
