By then it will just be another usual Florida summer afternoon thunderstorm so I highly highly doubt the parks would be closed Wednesday. I could see maybe closing a little early Tuesday but not by much. Fay is nothing to even think about.

Please don't get too complacent. Fay is still a strong storm and bad things can still happen, especially with strong wind gusts blowing debris or even tornados forming.

Everyone take caution and be safe!!!

My parents just landed at MCO and are on their way to the Hard Rock Hotel.

They are gonna be in FL for 8 days, so I'm hoping that the storm passes through quickly so they can enjoy some of their vacation.

Just had an email from a guest visiting Typhoon Lagoon today, and he estimated there were around 100 guests there tops.

Oh wow!

Good to know that most guests are heeding warnings. I'd also run as far away from a waterpark as I could with a pending tropical storm!

i have work in 3 hours, disney is still open hasn't changed their operating hours and the storm is getting closer and is not weakening. i really don't see why they aren't closing down earlier due to it. but we shall see.

besides...i need more than 1 day off... -_-

Because guests pay an awful lot of money to visit WDW and management apparently feels that they should do their best to function as usual to help vacationers trying to escape the real world while on the vacations they are spending thousands of dollars to be on. Disney will only close theme parks if it is unsafe for CMs and guests to be there. I'd still be in the parks if I were on vacation...matter of fact, I was in the parks during the TS that hit in early June of 2006 and it was fine...windy and rainy, but nothing I couldn't handle. Wear your poncho and sandals and you are just fine.

The thing with "weather" like TS and hurricans is that you never really know what its going to be like or where it is going to hit until it actually makes land fall.

I live on the Gulf coast and have been through several TS and hurricans. Yes, most of the TS are not a huge deal, escially when they don't hit you directly. However, I have also been through a TS that caused wide spreed flooding, billions of dollars in damages and killed several people during and after the storm. You just never know.

I can understand CMs not wanting to go into work when one is approching because you don't know what is going to happen once the storm rolls in. Streets may flood and you may get trapped at work and unable to get to your families. Not fun at all.

Good suggestion.

What do they do about the animals at AK when a storm approaches?

:)

We were at WDW Sept 1999 when Hurricane Floyd came near central FL en route up the east coast. The birds at DAK were evacuated out before the storm hit. We went to DAK the morning Floyd was due and they ran us out of the park mid-afternoon. We saw Flights of Wonder, but there weren't many birds.

The next day, DAK opened at noon (the only WDW park that opened) and we saw Flights of Wonder again, only with all the birds. We remarked on this to a CM who told us the birds had been flown to a safe location the day before.

The larger animals stay put as their barns are storm-proof (as someone else posted).

How about the night time entertainment? (Wishes, Illumination, Fantasmic, etc.) Do they cancel all those? I will be in WDW tomorrow (Wed). Waiting for years to see them. :(

I can see the in-room calls: "As part of our continuation of the Year of a Million Dreams celebration, every hotel guest this week has a chance to have the thrills of Typhoon Lagoon delivered to their doorstep!"

:lol::lol::sohappy:
Hope you get to see the shows though.
I just hope it doesn't hit WDW.
But the storm has passed now, hasn't it?

Far from it... the eye is still south of Orlando by about 60 miles. The current track shows it almost circling around central Florida, and it would seem that WDW will still be affected for at least the next 48 hours.
