Why do I have a odd feeling that SM is going to be only one track?:lookaroun:(

NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! According to earlier info it is supposed to get 2 new tracks with the same exact layout and the reuse most of the framework. Also to happen was new cars with sound (single wide), new effects and light reduction in ride area, loadzone and queue changes with the postshow getting anything from a dust and polish to a complete redo.

You mean one track with launching technology, a launch "countdown" and computer designed layout with no uneven and bumpy tracks and state of the art special effects, coherent theming and a newly designed queue and exit show? That would be terrible

Kind a like RnRC? :lookaroun

But didn;t you see what jt04 said? That would be even better!

Does DL have two tracks?DLP?

I wonder if Lee will chime in to help us out here.

Hope so..

Space mountain I guess is a soft spot for me considering it was my first roller coaster and I DO want it to get and upgrade but leave pixar out of it.

My first, too! I totally rode it to impress a girl!

I am sure that they are absolutely spazzing that one of their big E-tickets will be closed for a year in a half.

Well, maybe they should have added one or two E-tickets since 1992, then, shouldn't they?

Yes, I read it, and it sounds similar to RnRC or SM in DLP. It does sound very cool, but WDW's SM does not have to be the same as other coasters. If you wanted to you could put a monster coaster in WDW's SM building because it is huge, but that would take out the ability of many people being able to or even wanting to ride it. Adding the launch would most likely increse the height requirements to 48" SM really works well the way it is, but it needs to be much smoother and add in audio and new effects and more people can enjoy it.

No DL and DLP are both single track. WDW's SM was the first, the largest and the only one with 2 tracks and handles up to 2500 riders per hour. Now DL SM only has a capacity of 2000 riders per hour.

Disneyland has one track.
DLP as one track - the station for DLP is actually outside the building as the coaster is "shot" into the mountain. It is a true coaster - on the scale of RRC.

Ah, cool.I guess I wouldn't mind SM losing the two tracks for a better ride.:o

2500 for MK SM? I thought it was identical to the Matterhorn, which I have seen listed as 1500 riders/hour.

Really? It doesn't have to be a sharp launch of 0-60 in 3 seconds like RnRC. How about something that gradually increases your speed as you ascend the lift hill, so that by the time you're at the top, your moving faster than you were at the bottom, and ready to be "shot" into space? Thats the one thing that's always bothered me about the lift hill on SM-its not anything close to being launched into space. You should be moving faster and faster the higher you go, not creeping as you get to the top.

I do hope they keep the two track system. I know its harder to maintain, but its unique to WDW. Also, don't the vehicles at DL and DLP have two seats per row? I thought WDW was keeping the one seat per row configuration? If WDW has only one track, and they keep the one seat per row config., capacity won't be even close to the other SMs, since both of those utilize a two seat per row system.

SM will retain it`s twin track layout no matter what.

New lift hills are pretty definate. Same place, same height, but new.

You are correct about the 1500 riders per hours on the Matterhorn. Both rides are similar, but the Matterhorn can only have 3 cars on a track at any time. I thought I read that up to 13 cars can be on each track at a time at WDW's SM. The Matterhorn is 20 years older and the technolgy changes, like braking/stoping safety zones so they can run more trains at one time to increase capacity.

Also another point is the tracks for the Matterhorn are 1/3 shorter.

2037' & 2134'

from some people, yes. From others... I don't want to think about it.

This was my fear when I heard they were keeping the same layout and only adding new track. Instead of gutting it and starting from scratch, the twin track retro fit allowed the bean counters to scale back the design which now appears to be happening. It makes me :hurl: to think we are going down this road again. It kinda reminds me of what happens in Vegas. When the mega hotels submit plans for amazing resorts and get approval they immediately begin to scale back design elements and it never ends up as the original drawings depict.

Disney is playing right into Universal's hands. Mediocrity all around will follow if Disney maintains this mind set!

Disney and mediocrity is a bad combination for guests and investors alike.

Hopefully Disney realizes this and will "plus" the plans...I have confidence that Disney can do this. They have wowed us before.

Noooo - the same layout was always the plan. The grand plan was for new track to replace all the 1975 main ride track. Imagine the current attraction, but super smooth in brand new cars with enhanced visual effects and a synchronised score.

It`s management who are now trying to take this away. Idiots.
