mk attraction update...

I have absolutely no idea if this means anything at all, but I've noticed over at least the past month or so the side of Space Mountain facing away from the park hasn't been lit. Could this have anything to do with upcoming major refurbishment?

I'm hoping they install a decent lighting show element which seems way over due and would help market the new DVC too.

No, its just that Stitch really escaped this time and decided to mess things up.

The much-needed extended refurbs have proven only one thing:

The park needs another high-capacity E-ticket.

Management is concerned about the impact a long SM refurb will have on park operations, but it's their fault for going 16 years without adding a significant attraction to the park! In fact, they've only taken popular rides away with either no replacements (20K, Skyway) or unpopular ones (Tiki NM, Stitch).

Don't get me wrong; the entire park will be refurbished, new attractions are on their way, and SM's refurb will probably turn out all right. But this is all too little, too late. Did any of you visit the MK during the PotC, HM, or extended Splash Mt. refurbs? Even slow days felt busy because the lands lost high-capacity attractions.
i agree that the park needs another E-ticket (since it is the most popular park), but if we are saying that in the last 5 years, the money that went to Everest should have gone to an E-ticket in MK, Ill have to say no. AK needed Everest more then MK needed another E-ticket.

That is only covering the last 5 years, if my math is correct, that still leaves 11 years of stagnant additions.

That's still pretty bad,IMHO

I never even thought that. :p

And yes, your math is correct. :( (I'm sad because of the stagnation, not because you know how to add and subtract.)

Seriously... How can they refurb Splash at exactly the same time each year? At least let it be late Jan this year... Please... Somebody! I'll cry if I don't get to go on it this year :(

So when will Disney officially make these announcements on their site? We're going late Jan-Early Feb and I'm just curious what the time frame is for adding rehab rides to the list? Like will they do it a couple months ahead of time or only a week ahead of time or???

well, if a ride needs to be refurbished every year and it's a water ride, doesn't it make sense to do it during the coldest month of the year that also happens to be one of the least busy? I'm afraid a Splash Mountain refurbishment in August wouldn't go over too well...

Yes, I get that, but I wish they could roll it somehow - first 3 weeks one year, week 2-3-4 the next, throughout Jan and Feb so it's not the same week. We are creatures of habit, after all.
