Since I'm now on my 8th consecutive year of being a high-schooler's mom I can attest that high school is always melodramatic.:(

Yes, so true.
Betty, what are your thoughts on same-s e x high schools?
My girls went to a girls only high school, and the four of us agree that the absence of males freed the students to be more competitive academically, rather than socially. Socially, the atmosphere was much more comfortable than it might have been if boys were in the mix.

Agreed...kids scarred me for life back when I was in 4th grade. And while I've learned to deal with people being hurtful because of it...I wish I didn't have to learn that lesson like that.

I'm sorry to hear that Nibbs.
It seems that a lot of people have school related horror stories.
Too bad it has to be that way.

We only have a few here in the state, and they all have excellent academic reputations. Meredith Vierra graduated from one, and she has always said that it was the best experience for her.

What made it worse was I was in the minority at that school (One of the few white people amongst a bunch of African Americans) and I had really frizzy hair (well...that hasn't changed  ) and I had buck teeth with a space in the middle. I didn't dress well. Basically I was a walking disaster...but I didn't realize it at the time...and it really did hurt. But I've definitely managed to over-come that hardship. It's made me who I am today.

Good for you that you were able to come out of that stronger and more confident!

Poor Freddy!
I hope he can work through this.
Kids are the cruelest of creatures.
They are.

I hope I can learn from my dealings.
Confrontation is unavoidable, and often necessary.
And there is nothing inherently wrong with it.
I realize it is unavoidable, but do not think it is necessary.
It took me a long while to become confident again. Trust me
I'm still stuggling...
