Mission Space to suffer the same fate as AE?

Mission: Space

If you want to see some strange irony....

Dig up an old 1983 annual report... In it, then Chairman Ron Miller writes a very long letter to stock holders. In it, he spends a lot of time bragging about how good Horizons is going to be. Soon after that, he was removed as chairman.

Fast Forward to today. Michael Eisner writes a very long letter to shareholders in the 2004 annual report. In it, he spends a lot of time bragging about Mission: Space, the ride that was built on the same spot as Horizons, and had Horizons torn down in order for it to get built. Soon after that, Eisner was removed as chairman.

Will Eisner's successor be demolishing Mission: Space in 2024 to make way for yet something else? And will he too be removed as chairman then?

perhapes we have stumbled upon the first disney ride location that is cursed????

perhapes nothing is meant to ever survive there, and the chairman who puts it there will see the fate as the one before him, kinda an odd coincidence

guess we will have to wait and see how things go

haha yeah i like the sinkhole theory, but i wanna stick with a curse thats more fun--its like the store in your local mall that always goes out of business and then the one after it does too, and it just keeps on going on like that

A few things here...

Well...first, I think the barf bags on ride are a tremendous exagerration. If there are a few people getting sick, I guarauntee you that 90% of them are because they are psychologically psyching themselves into getting sick because of the 99 warnings and the barf bags! Just my opinion...I think it's too much!

Also, I think it would be great to somehow divide the crowd. I LOVE MS, but I would also love to ride it with the intensity that it was originally designed for! So maybe they could have one line for the brave people and one line for the whimps. I know this creates a problem logistically, but it was just a thought I had! :)

too much spinning for me...

I did Missiion space last week. I never have had any major problems on a ride before but MS was too much for me. I spend the next two hours trying to get my head and my feet to match and work together. On a whole the concept is great, but right now way too much for my system to handle at 48.

LOL its not about being a wimp or not. Pilots go through this type of testing to see if they can handle jets ( at a different speed ). Certain people react differently to this type of physical test..

Just my opinion

Believe me Mission Space will be around for quite a while, unlike AE it cost a ton of money to built and while people havent been banging down the doors of MS it has been getting pretty good crowds. AE got shut down because their were hardly any lines their ever in the past couple years and people were complaining about their kids and what not.

Also dont forget that Disney looks to the MK to inject the latest chracters into the rides. It only makes sense for them to do this here since people freak out when they talk about putting them in EPCOT.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I give M:S 8 years tops. I was extremely disapointed after riding it. I thought it would be so much more. Perhaps I was a victim of all of the hype and all of the warnings and precautions. With all of the talk about people getting sick and how intense the ride was I figured I would've walked off this attraction saying that it was the greatest thing ever. I rode it again trying to be more open-minded... still nothing. Don't get me wrong this is a great piece of engineering and creativity but between people's high expectations and those who think they will get sick i do not believe this ride will last very long.:lookaroun

Well I guess I'll agree with you in one way. I will say that M:S IN IT'S CURRENT FORM will probably be here 8 years tops. They are going to have to change the film after a while and HOPEFULLY they will make the ride more intense and thrilling. M:S is not a thrill ride as much as it's is just a fun ride. I do love the ride, but I still feel it's kinda tame. I hope the next version of M:S will be the THRILL ride we were promised with the current version.

Who promised this and isnt this in the eye of the beholder?

People keep saying that it is more tame than it used to be when it was created but that because MORE people were getting sick and they had to do something.

Maybe I posted this already but my problem is with the program. Compare it with Star Tours - there are many similarities between the films: Hyper space/sleep, comets/asteroids, through the canyons of the Death Star/Mars, sweeping right/left turn, BRAKES/BRAKES! These attractions are not supposed to be all about the technology. Same with Test Track. Great technology, mundane program.

thats actually a pretty decent point, i never really compared the two shows side by side, but when you think about it star tours and mission space have very similar visual shows, obviouslt MS technology is much better but wow, really similar never made the connection.
