Mission: Space -- How is it really?

Oh man, never again! My brothers and I got soooooo sick. Felt woozy the rest of the day.

Not saying that it wasn't impressive but I felt like I wasted the rest of the day at the park cause I was so sick and I pay too much for a ticket not to make the most of my day.

I think the theme and concept are really cool, but the first time I did it I got dizzy for a little bit. It didn't last long but that sort of thing usually doesn't happen to me so I've gone on the "mild" version since it has been opened.

The ride is enjoyable and the lines usually aren't too long so I like to hit it up, even if I don't do the faster version anymore.

Interesting observations, all. Yeah, I have ongoing sinus/allergy issues too. The gist I get is, "It's okay because I tolerate it" or "I just can't do it" or "won't do it again". I don't hear overwhelming praise for it or that I must ride it if never been on it, unlike Soarin'.

I've been in Epcot twice in the last month and have avoided it both times. I might be in again this weekend but it's the least likely of the four parks this time. I still don't have an overwhelming desire to ride it.

If someone wants to ride, but is worried that they'll feel "off" when they're done, maybe the best thing to do is to ride it just before you're planning to leave the park. That way, if you feel funky when you're done, you were planning to chill in the room, anyway. :)

I think it's a great experience and should be tried once.

It's pretty intense. I did it (knowing I would temporarily regret it), because I wanted to say I had felt what it would be like to be in space. I don't do well on spinny-rides. I almost wish I would not have known about the centrifuge technology because I don't know if I reacted the way I did because I KNEW I was spinning or if I would have felt it regardless? Either way, being 3 years-removed from the ride, I'm happy I tried it. But, right after the ride my DH, my brother, SIL, and I all ended up in the baby station pretending we needed a place for our kiddos when it was really the four of us that needed a dark, air-conditioned place to camp out in for awhile. We perked up about an hour afterward and went on our way. But, I don't think any of us will ride it again. At least not the orange version.

My Wife loves to ride the Green Side and she is not a thrill junkie so the 3 of us usually stick with that. I can ride the Orange side but it gives me the tiniest headache.

I've still yet to see someone puke on the ride, and I've ridden it about 5 times, before there was the green/orange team thing. But it made my wife feel very queasy for the next few hours the one time we rode green, so she won't go back on it.

How is Mission:Space really? I avoided it like the plague the last two times I was there. (You can also add RnRC).

Two different experiences, depending on which version of the Attraction you decide to try.

Team Green is the less-intense experience. It is basically just a trumped up motion simulator experience.
Think 'Star Tours' but on a smaller, more intimate scale.
The pre-show videos you see before boarding the ride capsules really play up the 'intense' factor and might make you nervous, but relax, it is not that big of a deal on Green.
You will be chuckling about that post-ride.

Team Orange is the same experience, but much more intense due to the zero-gravity sensations. The 'spinning sensation' is sometimes felt by some Guests and makes them feel queasy. Some advise looking directly ahead at the small monitors inside the ride capsules to avoid feeling the negative effects. It differs with every Guest.

I am not into 'intense thrill rides' by any means, but i dig the Team Green version of 'Mission:Space'.
It is more fun when you imagine yourself really blasting off at the start of the sequence.

Try it...i think you will enjoy Team Green.

DH grabbed a handy dandy baggy about five seconds into the ride and never put it down. I was literally fighting that G-force sensation to reach out and grab him more bags as I had been on the ride and knew it was far from over. Our kids were freaking out thinking that he was dying or something. I was trying to yell over the sound and narration to tell them that he was okay and to let my husband know approximately how much time was left. When the doors opened he literally flew out. I'm pretty sure he knocked over every elderly person, child, fast, moderate and slow walker all the way to the end of the hallway, through the play area and obligatory gift shop to get to open-air. It didn't end there. He was so sick that he could not get on a Disney transportation bus and was driven by other personnel back to our resort on property. Needless to say, it ruined the end of that day and most of the next day as well.
No Thrill ride is worth throwing the rest of your vacation into the toilet. Literally.

I only rode the Green side because I knew my mom, who was with me at the time, could not handle the intensity of the Orange side. After the ride was over, I said aloud..."That was it?". It was pretty boring to this thrill seeker. I am determined to ride the Orange side this time! I love spinning and the closeness of the ride did not bother me at all (and I am one that does not like elevators).

We had always done the green one and had no problems, then one year we rode orange and it ruined the ride completely for us! (Nausea and dizziness). Now none of us wants to ever ride it again. We even rode with 2 strangers and every single one of us was moaning and reaching for the bags. Thank goodness no one actually vomited, but we sure felt like it. As for Rockin' Roller Coaster.... love it! (Just wish they had more cooling fans for the line.)

Having done both, you're not missing much.
Imagine riding green, but a few seconds into it a large man sits on your lap for a little bit.

Ha! There is only one ride in all of the lands that I will not ride and that is the Ring of Fire...at our fair. I love roller coasters that have loops, but some fair rides are shady and I just refuse to ride that one.

I rather like a good Larson Fireball.

I'm surprised by the amount of people who find it boring. I think it's a really great, unique, kind of intense experience. It's the only thing like it that I've ever been on.

Scary thought:

Anyone ever noticed how the spaceship you're supposedly simulating a simulation of a simulation of a flight to Mars has a big, separating 2-stage rocket and booster setup attached to it... and there's no more of these things lying around on the Mars surface for you when you get there? Is this supposed to be a one way trip?

Your trip home is powered by projectile vomit and the dry heaves of others.
