Mirror is gone, castle painting has started (pics)

But even with all of them on it still looked better than the 25th B-day celebration. :p :animwink:

That's not saying much, you could have bulldozed the entire castle to the ground and left it laying there in a pile of rubble and it would have looked better than the 25th anniversary cake castle.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Yay, it is nice to see our castle being restored to her usual beauty, I am also another one who loved all of the decorations but the celebration was long enough and it is well and truely time for this.

Thanks again for the links to the photo album. :)

Some, if not all, of the gold characters are rumored to be shipped over to the Walt Disney Studios Paris park in France to be incorporated into their new Toon Studios section, which is replacing their Animation Courtyard. Apparently they will be displayed around the Sorceror's hat on their Magic of Animation building and along the walkway back to their new rides that include Crush's Coaster (a longer, indoor version of primeval whirl) and a Cars ride (supposedly similar to DCA's LadyBug Boogie)

WOW thankyou soo much for all the info!

I didn't really mind the decorations while they were up, but seeing the castle with all of it down makes it look so classy, and makes the decorations that were up before seem so... tacky. Anway, great to see the castle back to its normal self.

To all the people wondering about the crane/painting... I have no idea what the actual schedule looks like, but I can give you my educated guess: The new celebration starts October 1st, and there is a huge early morning MK press event going on October 4th... My guess is that they wouldn't want either a big crane or a half-painted castle in all of those press photos... so one could argue that they're probably doing everything ASAP so they can have the castle work done by those dates. (Which would explain why they're painting during park hours.) Again, that's just my guess though.

The mirror on the castle is gone, but the brackets are still there. Painting has started on the upper turrets with what looks to be a much darker and glossier blue than before. Definetely much darker since it faded, but from the pics it looks even darker then right after the last rehab. Very sharp. Apparently painting is going on during park hours though, which is a bit surprising.

To give credit where credit is due, the following link is from "Safetymom" on the Disboards. This link within her Epson photo album shows off the recent changes/refurb: http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=1770063&a=32306551&f=0

Well HCOE is finally over. The mirror is gone. Ah pish posh what else is new?

The crane is scheduled to remain at the castle until December 20th. It is needed to install the new suite being built. It can be lowered to not really be seen, but yes, they could theorhetically make the place "presentable" by then.

Ah... Classic Castle Glory. I liked the Gold Glory, too (and the mirror - wasn't so bad temporarily), but glad to see the return. Good before and after, I guess!

Now, she could use a new coat of paint (which is coming)...

Gee...all the B-day cake bashing, again.
:veryconfu

I liked it and thought it was fun. It was a birthday party, after all. It's not like it was advertised to be a permanent thing. I do think it was up too long though. It was pretty shabby looking the last 4 or 5 months and her majesty was restored to her perfection afterwards.

Maybe I am in the minority, but, I didn't care much for the gold characters around the castle. I did, however, like the little added gold touches they had on the castle, just not the characters, and not the mirror. I do like the blue paint though.

It didn't even look like a castle.

Well that's a sore for sight eyes.

Though I did like much the gold decoration, I'm glad to see our original castle back.

UNLIKELY

Like the Epcot Wand was removed at the end of the Millenium Celebration right?

There is a difference. The mirror was clearly only for the 50th Celebration, the wand could and has been changed to be relevant for a longer period of time. We may not like the wand, but some people do. The mirror would look a little silly at any time other than the HCoE.
