Mirror is gone, castle painting has started (pics)

I think if they were planning to decorate the castle for the new celebration they would have gone straight into that instead of painting it back to blue and then redoing it again.

Apparently painting is going on during park hours though, which is a bit surprising.

They could dress up the painters in fairy costumes and then everyone would be happy..........Well except the painters!

I'm glad the mirror is gone. Wow you can really tell how much it took away from the forced perspective. Not mention I think I forgot there was a clock under there!

Now if they would just bring back the trees into the hub... with all those pretty twinkling lights... I'd truly be home again!

...Alas... it will never happen.

While the trees were nice, I prefer the great view of Wishes.

The mirror is NOT gone...well at least not yet. I just saw it today. Sorry I have no way to post a picture right now, but if someone else done here wants to get the shot, it can be found right next to the resort monorail between the storage for the Water Pageant and the monorail station for the Kingdom.

I know the crane is necessary for any rehab done to the castle BUT it really spoils any photo opportunities IMO!

I went down yesterday on a whim, we left Gainesville at 2:00pm and arrived at MK around 4:30 and the castle looked great. I agree the blue on the top of the castle is a much deeper blue this time. MK was not really crowded at all, however all of the sit down restaurants were slammed. So much refurbishments happening. The sitting area off of Main St. and by Peter Pan. Maybe just work to the buildings themself. It was a nice day trip though.

Just left last nite the MIrror is laying in the grass behind the Magic Kingdom Monorail station near a access road covered with a big piece of plastic...The painters are done most days by 13:00 and the crane down by 13:30 .....That is the same color blue just give it a few months to fade..........:kiss:

IMHO...

I think being closer to the castle during the show hinders the view of what's happening behind the castle.

It made for that much more a cherrished view on Main Street. To be in 'the spot' while watching the show...

...and I just think the whole hub area is 'extra-nekid' now!

the paris comment

I just wanted to ask about the "fiber optic effects" for the Paris Wishes...

I was under the impression that they used lasers to make the borders on the castle in Paris (similar to the laser projections on Spaceship Earth after Illuminations), and used LCD projectors to put the animated scenes all over the castle. Fiber Optics would imply that they threaded millions of fiber optic filaments all over the castle and have hundreds of color changing automated lights illuminating them...

If so i would have liked to see how this "move" took place. did they have a semi parked in the hub, loaded the mirror, drive it down main street, take it backstage beside the fire house and then dumped it there ?

I wonder if they are going to disamble the mirror and place it all in that container, transport it and store it ? :drevil:

Has there been any further info as to how long the painting will take!? I'll be in the MK the first week of November and, even though the works are rumoured to be stopiing around 1pm, it's be nice if the work was completed!

I've read that it'll be on-going in to 2007...any further news?
