Mine Ride Construction Update

Kind of confused what the wall at the front is supposed to be, is that debri or is that how the wall will look when you are zooming by it?
My best guess is that the pile of rocks and dirt on the right is going to be compacted down to act as the fill beneath a crafted rock-wall formation. That appears to be what has been started on the left side where some sort of mesh and rebar structure is already on top of the pile.

Now that I'm looking at it on a full size monitor, I can see that it's intentional, whatever it is. There's a formed rebar cage coming out the left end of it, so it's been spray-applied like that.

The color doesn't match any of the other rockwork, and it definitely looks like there are pieces of trash stuck in it. I wonder if that's the designated wash-out area for their gunnite machines, or perhaps a test area, where they practice before applying to the mountain.

Were they one of the lettered tickets or standalone? I always thought it was free, since you were forced to take it or a boat to get to the MK.

It was an actual ticket 'window' built into the wall. Way back in the '70's', the least expensive way to get in was to buy a general admission ticket ($3.75 in 1971) that had a coupon that entitled you to use the trams, monorail or Steamboats from the Transportation and Ticket Center to get to the Magic Kingdom. General admission also had a coupon for your actual admission into the park. If you didnt have the coupon, you could buy a ticket for a ride on that 'highway in the sky' !

Here is another view of it from the update that was just posted here.

That view makes it look more intentional. Maybe this is just the first step and they have to go through and paint it when complete?

Thinking about this, i wonder if they were going for the look of "It's the dwarves track they built into the mountain" so its supposed to be cut out looking.

There was also a turnstyle at the CR & Poly monorail stations. You had to show your resort ID in order to board the monorail. You also had to show your resort ID at the MK monorail station in order to board the resort line.

That moment themeing becomes too realistic and your so confused as to why it looks so real. lol

I really wonder is they did use some of the construction waste into this themed banking… the world may never know.

Even if this is more of a kiddie coaster it certainly will be the most extravagantly themed one.

When I was a kid, my grandfather used to take us to WDW and we would ride all of the transportation systems around the parks. To be honest, I never knew we were missing the good stuff for many many years. It was just so amazing to be at WDW.

That wall looks intentional to me. If you think about it they are miners, maybe it is supposed to resemble a mined rock quarry outside the mine. Anyone else think that's possible?

I'm just guessing, but I think because this section of rock work is "structural" and used to support this curved section of the track, it could be that they've added this extra "filler" layer to reinforce it before adding the "decorative" rock work on top of it... at least in the models and concept art all the SDMT rock work has the same look

None of the rockwork supports any track. All of the track is supported by steel columns and braces, which are ultimately supported by concrete foundations. All rockwork is purely decorative.

in the photo this rough filler material is attached directly to the steel supports, which is different from the rest of the ride
