It will either sell food or merch items, but no opening date is known yet.

Yes, I am pretty sure there will be. There were some construction pictures recently where you could see what looked like a section of the rock work designed for a waterfall.

There is still plenty of time to the water features to get the axe.

They won't get the axe--funding is strong. Where the axe will fall is in 2015 when a water pump breaks and no funding is available to fix it.

Also, speculation is that Prince Eric's Village will open by the end of the year.

From my understanding, and sorry if I am wrong but there should be several water features through out the attraction.

The speculation for Prince Eric's Village seems resonable because at the recent press conference Disney said they still hadn't determined what would go in the buildings.

wrong. they did not start in 2012. they started in 2011.

Yep, first evidence of the mine ride construction in the aerials was October 3rd of 2011.

I guess digging holes in the ground technically counts as construction, but I'm still right about everything else

There is going to be a waterfall that will go under the bridge and meet the water from the BOG area that brown area that looks indented in the middle is going to be the waterfall part.

And last I heard for the ariel section they want to introduce a fresh fruit market that sells Little mermaid themed merchandise as well.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but will they construct a small fastpass area for the little mermaid where the house are being built or is the MP location the permanent location for the FPs?

With FP+ around the corner I doubt they'll do anything.

its a permanent location the new attraction was built with fastpass plus in mind.

Just got back an hour ago from MK. Not much has changed from what you've all already seen elsewhere. But it does look like the rockwork is expanding towards the front now. There is an overhang they were sculpting which the track goes under. Enjoy
