Military Planes are Flying Over Disney Tonight

The greatest thing to fear is fear itself....someone important said that, though I can't remember who it was....Roosevelt? Kennedy? Curchill?...don't really remember, anyways the point is that in my opinion the military protection is ok...I would be in the small percentage though who would be a little weary...a lot has changed when it comes to laws recently and several laws impede on our rights...the fact is that thankfully nothing happened (or nothing was allowed to happen) this new years...

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!!!! :D

BTW don't all these laws mention mean nothing if marshal law is declared???

You know what...this whole issue about security is really a publicity stunt. It's so the Disney Corp. can say, we are doing our part. Nothing like a showing of Illuminations with a military chopper flying over. But what bothers me most are those checkpoints in front of the park. What a waste of time, and what a way of treating your guests. Yeah, a security guard poking in everyone of my bags. What a way to make me feel welcomed. Notice, there are no metal detectors (at least since I was down last in June 03). What is to prevent someone from taping a knife to their leg? What prevents someone from lobbing in a grenede over the park wall? What prevents someone from hiding anthrax in an orifice of their body? Let me tell you, those checkpoints are quite a hassel when you visit three parks in one day like I do. Those checkpoints are degrading and insulting and some of those guards are downright rude. I am reminded of a guard named Paul, working at Animal Kingdom.....very rude. He was from Kentucky I think. Very very un-Disney. The whole security thing is a joke. In my opinion, the terrorists have already won. They wanted to scare us, and they have succeeded. Everyone has to be searched everywhere....airports, theme parks, hockey games. Quite frankly, I would rather just take my chances and not live in fear like we seem to be doing these days

What no one realizes is that Cinderella Castle is a missile silo. At a moments notice, the top one-third is blown clear and a nuclear tipped warhead is lifted into place. This alteration was done in secrecy during the 25th anniversary of WDW while the castle was covered by the birthday cake. I don't blame the military one iota for wanting to protect it's assets, do you?

Tramp, you're kidding, right???????? :veryconfu

Heading for the great escape.
MMMmmmmm is it a good idea to use military aircraft to prevent violation of controlled airspace. One would assume in these times that force would be permitted on any transgressor. In the air I would take it that air to air missiles would have to be used. Now i will admit Im no accident investigator but having visited a few crash scenes in my former life, things that crash tend to go in pretty much one piece things that go bang in mid air tend to shower debris over many miles. Tough call on whoever has to make that decision.

Either way unless there’s an exclusion zone 5 - 10 mins flying time out its all cosmetic as something would be falling on Disney. Besides give the terrorist some credit, planes have been done. They will already have a new method of delivery worked out that will circumnavigate most of these new security methods. Its a game of cat and mouse and the state will always be the one playing catch up.

Still hasnt stopped me making my booking though:D

Next time you're in the castle, check out the door that says:

NEVER
OPEN...
REQUIRED
AUTHORIZATION
DOOR

Take the first letter of each word....NORAD. Behind this door is a complete command and control center reinforced with 4 foot concrete and steel walls and posters of Michael Jackson.

(I would tell you more but they're calling me to take my medicine. The lobotomy was a success and the medicine prevents me from using a one-hole punch on my eyelids.)

May the force be with you!

You had me going there for a minute!! I am way too gullible. I believe everything I read. I was picturing the US waging World War III out of Cinderella's Castle! :brick: :hammer:
I am definitely NOT the brightest crayon in the box

I don't agree with your first sentence as it relates to the restricting of AirSpace and military flyovers. This IMO is a real tactic in the face of unknown or known error threats. I'm not sure Disney has a say in the matter. If the Gov't wants to do this, as they have done with stadiums and other large gaherings then it will hapen.

As to the checkpoints, I baically agree with you that not much is being accomplished. However, my experience hasn't been as negative as yours - no nasty CM's (Actaully most of them have been above and beyond friendly), no long waits, no big deal. You wait there as long as you would wait at teh gate. It seems to make the gate wait shorter since people are held up at the checkpoint.

Quite frankly, I find teh gate experience more annoying - my fingers never fit right in the scanner, my finger scan always rejects and I have to do it over and over. So annoying.

 Posters of Michael Jackson... haha...

I actually think that having planes fly over WDW is a good idea... It keeps the place safe and free from terrorism.

“Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself”: FDR’s First Inaugural Address
Franklin D. Roosevelt had campaigned against Herbert Hoover in the 1932 presidential election by saying as little as possible about what he might do if elected. Through even the closest working relationships, none of the president-elect’s most intimate associates felt they knew him well, with the exception perhaps of his wife, Eleanor. The affable, witty Roosevelt used his great personal charm to keep most people at a distance. In campaign speeches, he favored a buoyant, optimistic, gently paternal tone spiced with humor. But his first inaugural address took on an unusually solemn, religious quality. And for good reason—by 1933 the depression had reached its depth. Roosevelt’s first inaugural address outlined in broad terms how he hoped to govern and reminded Americans that the nation’s “common difficulties” concerned “only material things.”

Isn't it scary enough that Disney Security drives mini-vans?

Thank goodness the Orange and Osceola County Sherrif deputies are so professional!

By the way, due to the Orange Level Alert all Reedy Creek Fire Stations are under "lock down". No tours, no visitors and no tee shirt sales. The web site is still up.... www.reedycreek.org

To bring up a post put up earlier...Does anybody have any physical evidence or proof that Cinderellas Castle is a missle silo? If nobody does then why even bring it up.

Tramp...Remember this?

Here is information that I reluctantly published in another thread and I ask that you treat this as classified information for your eyes only:

In the early 1990s, The Institute for Foreign Policy Studies argued that proliferation of missiles and warheads was likely to increase and pose an indefensible and devastating threat to the US Mainland, particularly if a launch were to occur in our own hemisphere. As part of the National Missile Defense Against ICBMs from North Korea and strategic nuclear warheads being deployed in Cuba, the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization, in conjunction with NORAD, proposed the installation of a missile silo in Central or Southern Florida armed with a short range nuclear tipped warhead aimed directly at Cuba as a deterrent against sudden and unprovoked missile launch against the United States from that island nation.

Since the water table in Florida is such to prevent an underground installation, it was agreed that an installation of a missile silo above ground was necessary and housed in an unsuspecting area so as not to cause public protest.

During the 25th Anniversary of WDW, the famous pink Castle Cake was a facade to hide the War Department's project of installing a Missile Silo inside the Magic Kingdom's Cinderella Castle...upon detection from the multi-billion dollar, newly placed techno-gyro Satellite which is capable of immediately detecting ICBM launches at the US, the strategic missile is quickly moved into place from an area deep inside Magic Kingdom's Utilidors, uprighted into position, the top 1/3 of the Castle is blown clear of the area and the missile can be launched in less than 2.5 minutes...
...after a mere 38 second flight, no more flotillas from Cuba.

You wrote that Tramp.
Remember it?
Is there any evidence at all of this being true?
I question your sources.

Yes, I remember writing it. And there IS evidence. This picture was taken by a NORAD employee disguised as a street cleaner in the vacinity of the hub.

You aren't able to question my sources. One of them lives in the cell next to mine but is quite sick from eating the rubber off the walls. Another source is having a testicle removed after being exposed to too much radiation.

You're crazy. You don't believe this? Come on. GROW. UP.

I studied meteorology in college. Haven't you ever seen a space shuttle go up? Take a look closely at the phenomena that takes place directly above the shuttle.

Oy. I'm sure there is a Cast Member inside the Mickey Mouse costume, too.
