Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2016

After we went to one of last year's Hallowishes dessert parties, I dont think we'll attend one this year. While the reserved viewing area allowed me to get some fantastic shots, the "After the parade, Guests will be escorted to Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant" just didn't happen. You'd think that they would have just done a quick "everyone inside the premium corral , walk through the mainstreet bypass" , but nope, didnt happen just the desserts are there, go. By the time you make your way there its jammed packed and even though the seating's assigned its still a nightmare since they have the desserts in the one corner that everyone has to squeeze into.

We did a Halloween desert party last year. Never again. As 'networkpro' said, the escorted walk to the party didnt happen. The queue to get into the party area was huge. 20 mins later we where seated to face another queue to get a selection of treats. On the plus side, the cast members where lovely, plus the chef gave great advise on allergy items to avoid. Not to mention the perfect view for the fireworks.

I just paid $105 for the 10/31 party. Don't think I'll pay $174 for both that and the dessert party.

I thought when these parties crossed the $50 mark, they stopped being worth it, now we've double that. And it will still sell out, even with less entertainment and offerings and double the price.
I love Disney, and will go as long as I can, but every time I read the news on this site it seems as if half or more is related to price increases and upsell packages. We are a family of 6, and it is going to cost us between $8500 and $9000 to go this year (during September!!!). and we are skipping the party this year, and it cost us well over $8500 last year. I am fortunate to be able to afford to take my family to a place we love so much, but at the rate they are going we may be priced out soon. Sad

We're going on 20th September and it will be our first MNSSHP. It's been on the last 15 years we've visited but never bothered, this year we thought we'd try it. After paying $1,400 for 2 AP's it feels like we're paying another $140 for an evening with free candy, hopefully we'll come away thinking it was in fact much more than just that.

One thing somebody may be able to answer for me, is it limited to one bag per person for candy or if you fill the bag can you request a second one?

Our group is going specifically on our trip in October to experience MNSSHP and Food & Wine, so we'll be paying (at the AP rate, which saves us roughly 6 bucks and change off the regular price...:rolleyes:). I am happy I'll be able to experience MNSSHP (especially the Hocus Pocus show), but it's going to be a one and done for me and my friends.

Btw, for those who were also wondering - I confirmed today with a second cast member that AP holders can buy tickets at the AP rate for themselves as well as three additional passes. So that does seem to be the case.

Each person in your party gets a bag. Trick or treating is a fun activity once. Not sure you want to spend too much time collecting candy.

they provide a bag, but my kids, when out with my parents both took a reusable publix bag and filled them up

OK so 18 or 19 dates in October, seems like a lot more (maybe I'm wrong). So for guests who are not willing or wanting to pay a premium they lose out with Park Hours reduced to accommodate the "party". I know this is unrelated kind of, but this is why the after hours or early morning thing is not good for regular guests, it impact your park time be having reduced hours.

It certainly makes for pandemonium at MK the three nights each week with normal Wishes. At least this year two of the other parks will (should) have new nighttime spectaculars to sop up crowds.

[QUOTE="Cletus, post: 7205000, member: 89381"Where does it end??[/QUOTE]

As long as there are guests willing to pay the going rate, why should it end?

Going for the first time this year and I am wondering why anyone who look to get any candy. At roughly $75-100 a guest to get in, why would one waste time to collect a couple of dollars worth of candy? Is there something I am missing about the "trick or treating" experience that makes it an activity/event to do?

*** Not being critical of anyone who has collected candy or plans to. I'm just very curious and trying to plan out what would be the best use of my family's time at this event.

You can't understand why any families paying a fortune to attend a Halloween party in the Magic Kingdom in costume might want to take their kids trick-or-treating? I doubt people are concerned with the absolute value of the candy and more in the incalculable value of taking your kids trick-or-treating in The Most Magical Place on Earth.

I always thought it was a waste to and when I was younger I didn't want to bother with trick or treating in the park when there were other things to do. Everybody is different though.
