Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway confirmed

I too when I first imagined this attraction thought of a boat ride through Mickey scenes through the ages.

But that’s very corporate comfort food attraction design. This is different and I’d rather WDI be encouraged to do different sometimes.

As far as Steamboat Mickey and Sorcerer Mickey goes... isn’t that kind of the whole hook of Fantasmic? Maybe the real issue is they should improve Florida’s Fantasmic if people aren’t getting enough of that. I don’t know if a Mickey attraction could be as impressive to me as sitting on the banks of Rivers of America and watching Mickey fold the show in and out like magic.

It's so funny that people are so offended by Disney giving mickey a personality again after 60 years of being a bland corporate mascot.
They're so used to Mickey having no depth of character.

Mickey did some stuff in his early shorts in the 20's and 30's.
He throws Minnie out of a plane for not kissing him in Plane Crazy.
And Steamboat Willie is basically torturing animals to create music (which btw would fit perfectly in a Ren and Stimpy episode)

People should be offended by Mickey being represented like this:

At least Roadside Racers gave more personality to him compared to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Especially since they ditched the audience interactive element and is actually good.

Agreed. I never saw the appeal of a Mickey’s Greatest Hits ride. I like the idea of seeing something new from Mickey instead of just seeing the same famous scenes again.

Do we have to be offended by either? Each has their place.

I think you're giving Clubhouse far too much credit. It's an interactive show for preschoolers. I don't think it's supposed to be "good" or "representative" of what, or who, Mickey is, or was, or is "supposed" to be. It's just a show to help children think a little, dance, and enjoy 10 minutes of television. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think the ride can easily straddle the line between the newer style artwork, a slightly "mischievous" Mickey, and still be a family friendly ride for ALL ages.

Eh, if it was bad enough she felt the need to change it mid-ride, regardless of what was happening on the ride around her, it must have been bad enough that I would have been thanking her so I didn't have the scent wafting two rows back to me and my sensitive nose.

And sleeping on the WEDWay is a time-honored WDW tradition. At least in my family. I've ridden it twice in a row, first time to experience the sets, the second to snooze.

GMR was one we would do multiple times a trip.. because we loved it and my stepdaughter would beg to do it.. maybe she went on it multiple times, so the diaper was a minor sacrifice...

You’re missing the point entirely.

Mickey doesn’t have to be drawn differently to have the same attitude he had for decades. He could be drawn exactly the same as he is today.

I agree, Mickey should have a little bite. I don’t need him to look like ren and stimpy to do so.

I just watched some of the new shorts, some bits are funny but some bits went beyond gross and into creepy. The one were its hot and they do 'things' with ice cream to cool down was just :depressed: Hopefully they tone it down for the ride. I wish the ride was more like in Who Framed Rodger Rabbit when they enter toontown, that would be awesome.

Wait so you can't handle the innuendo in the shorts but all the innuendo in Roger Rabbit is totally fine? You sir need a round of patty-cake!

This 100%!!!

While I am excited for Runaway Railway. I am so bummed out that we won't get to a very amazing sequence like that into an attraction. That would had been the best us of the LPS system.

Put a giant mountain rock in the middle with Mickey and you would have a great visual experience complete with water spraying effects on various riders.

The one article containing a very detailed leak about the ride said...

There may be a scene akin to this with a hurricane or tornado, and if I am remembering correctly, a waterfall. The ride vehicles are supposed to do very, very cool things here

Just an FYI, don't take anything I put in spoilers as truth. For the most part, I'm just repeating what seemed to be well-trusted by insiders a few dozen pages back. And my memory isn't perfect.

Very well said. The way I see it, it's one extreme of Mickey to another. So much so, that I get the feeling some people are willing to overlook the flaws of the shorts simply because it's the opposite of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Why can't Disney just settle for a happy medium like you suggested?

I don’t know - maybe it’s just me but Roger Rabitt has not aged well. I liked the movie fine when it came out - it’s unwatchable to me now. The voice alone is enough to make me turn it off.

This 100%!!!

Ever wonder why they haven't updated Mickey in any of the art shown in the park, or even M&Gs?
Same reason you still see Mickey with a white face in so much merch even though he changed to a tan color half a century ago.

Because Disney uses all different Mickey designs at the same time.
A newer design never completely replaces all the ones that came before.
