But I don't see any evidence where Disney HAS to change anything just because its no longer 'in'. Perfect point, Toontown. Place has been outdated for well over a decade now...
This is far from a perfect example. Roger Rabbit may not be "in" to younger generations but it doesn't need to be.
Toontown remains popular because it features characters (ones that are iconographically synonymous with Disney) that have transcended decades and it contains a substantial dark ride that is decidedly themed to Roger Rabbit in the same vain as the ones found in Fantasyland.
Popular still, even though many of the land's original features have been removed/compromised entirely. (Jolly Trolly, Goofy's Bounce House and Chip n' Dale's Acorn Pit.)
The Roger Rabbit franchise notwithstanding, the land deserves to be re-imagined let alone, as it stands now, leaves a lot to be desired but it doesn't suffer what you define as "outdated".
